PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE 2020 AIP focus: ‘Positive student engagement, connected learners’ Dear Parents, Caregivers and Community Members, Welcome to Week 8 of Term 4 – this week swimming continues for P-3 and Year 5 students. Thank you to all our parent volunteers who were able to make it to our Volunteer Appreciation Morning Tea last Friday morning. It was wonderful to be able to acknowledge your valuable contributions to our school. The next few weeks will continue to be busy with our Green Rewards Celebrations, Year 6 Graduation, Year 6 Transition Day, Year 6 Riverway Excursion and Gold and Silver Awards to name but a few events. Reminder: School finishes for the 2020 school year on Wednesday, 9 December. The school office will re-open on Monday, 18 January, 2021 until 22 January, 2021, be closed 25/01 (Student Free Day) and 26/01 (Australia Day Public Holiday) and then will re-open again when school commences on 27/01/2021. 2021 Class Teacher Meet and Greet and Stationery Pack Drop Off The first day of school for 2021 is Wednesday, 27 January. Families are most welcome to come into school the previous week on Thursday, 21 January, 2021 between 1:30pm to 2:30pm to locate their child’s 2021 classroom, meet the teacher and drop stationery packs off. This is a great way to remove some of the ‘busy-ness’ and anxiety often associated with the first day of a new school year. With COVID- 19 adult social distancing requirements anticipated to still be in place in early 2021, it is also an important measure to reduce adult numbers and time on site on the first day of school. It would be appreciated if possible, that families take advantage of the opening of school on Thursday, 21/01. Please remember however, as with every year, no class grouping is definitively able to be finalised until after Day 8 when classes may change due to varying enrolment numbers and subsequent staffing allocation adjustments by the Department of Education. Teaching and Learning – Report Cards Teaching and learning will continue to be our focus right up until the end of the school year. You can assist your children to “finish strong” by ensuring they are in full attendance, read every day and complete their homework when required. Bohlevale State School will be emailing Report Cards again this semester. To ensure all parents and caregivers receive their child/children’s Report Cards, it is important that the school has your current email address recorded in OneSchool. If you are unsure that the school has your correct current email address, please ring/email the office to confirm. Report Cards will be emailed to the parent/caregiver recorded as ‘receives correspondence’. If a duplicate or printed Report Card is required, please also notify the office of this. Gold and Silver Awards We look forward to acknowledging the hard work and successful learning of students who have achieved an ‘A’ standard (or equivalent) in their Semester 2 results in one or more learning areas in our Semester 2 Gold and Silver Awards assemblies. Silver Awards Assemblies will occur for Prep on Friday, 4 December at 8:45am and for Year 1 and 2 on Friday, 4 December at 9:30am. Year 3-6 Assemblies will occur on Monday, 7 December – Year 3 and 4 at 8:45am and Year 5 and 6 at 9:30am. Invitations will be issued by Monday, 30 November for these events. REMINDER: Please collect your child’s medication from school before the end of year Remember to collect your child’s medication from school before the holidays begin. Advice about storage of medications such as asthma inhalers and adrenaline auto-injectors (for example, EpiPens) is available at the NPS Medicinewise website. Please also check expiry dates before bringing medications back to school after the holidays. 25/11/2020

Hi everyone! Wow What a busy few weeks!!! Remembrance Day, Naidoc Week, Sharon Franklin Memorial Garden opening with Kirwan High dancers, Year 5 Leadership speeches, farewells and Christmas activities. The kids and I are counting the days until Christmas and the end of school. Exciting but also very sad as we are talking about the changes that are happening, postings, holidays and moving. I am sad to say my “see you laters” to my faces I see every day. Kids Club just won’t be the same without you but we are still having fun until then… We are still doing activities for the students with parents away on Covid assist. Please let me know if there is anything I can help your family with. Geckos Family Centre, DCO and DFA are also available and have support if you need it.

Tuckshop News

The tuckshop will be winding down in the next couple of weeks and will be closed on the last day of school, Wednesday 9 December, 2020, for stocktake and cleaning. Over the counter orders and online orders will not be available on this day. With this in mind some foods may run out before then, however, we will fill the lunch orders with substitutes as close as possible to what was ordered. Thank you, in advance, for your understanding. Don’t forget to download the Flexischools online ordering system which is very popular with a lot of parents, access it on your phone using the app or on your computer. Thank you to everyone who has helped out at the tuckshop in any way during this very unusual year, your assistance is invaluable and always greatly appreciated. Tuckshop Convenor Rowena Emmitt

P&C News

As the school year winds down, I would like to take this opportunity to thank our school community who have supported the P&C, the Tuckshop, Uniform Shop and also BOSHC. Thank you to Mrs Donn and all of our wonderful school staff who have all supported and helped facilitate our fundraising activities, have come along to meetings or passed on ideas. This all ensured the swimming carnival BBQ, Father's Day stall, the introduction of the school backpacks and homework folders, the launch of our community cookbook and also the Christmas Raffle were successful. Everything we were able to accomplish this year would not have been possible without our wonderful volunteers-thank you all for your time and help. There is only ONE MORE WEEK until our Christmas Raffle is drawn and our 4 very lucky winners are announced!!! Don't forget, raffle money needs to returned to the tuckshop on Monday the 30th November. Raffle will be drawn on Wednesday December 2nd. $2 will get you one entry and a chance to win one of the awesome prizes that make up our AMAZING prize pool totalling over $1,500. Thank you to our wonderful sponsors Rollingstone Beach Front Resort, The Meat Barn Currajong, Kruger Crafts, Reading Cinemas, Billabong Sanctuary, Sk8way and Inflatable Kingdom for their generous support of this fundraising project.
