Hello Wonderful Families,
We made it through our first full week of school. They are tired! Below are a few highlights from our week and some information for the week ahead. Have a great weekend. It looks like the weather will be beautiful. Hope to see you Thursday at Curriculum Night.
Reading Workshop:-Started and finished our first Read Aloud book, Lulu and the Brontosaurus-Started reading with students individually to get to know them as readers-What it means to be a good listener during mini lesson-Organization and exploration of classroom library-Buddy reading
Writing Workshop/Word Study:-Developmental Spelling Assessment to assess various spelling patterns-Sentence dictation to assess sounds in words-Handwriting practice-1st grade goals-Reflection on the first week of first grade-Writing folders-Heart map-Beginning sounds
Math Workshop:-What is math?-What do mathematicians do?-What does it mean to be good at math?-Notice and Wonder
Content : -Eclipse-Being accountable for your actions
Other:-Continued to learn names and get to know one another-Morning Meeting routines-Brain Breaks-Bus Safety-First fire drill-Mystery Doug question of the week
