Dear family, !!A while back I had heard my friend use a phrase which I find quite humorous: “Not my circus, not my monkeys.” It is a

funny li!le saying where someone expresses and establishes the fact that they are not responsible for a situa$on or

set up. We all can relate to the feeling of relief we experience when we realize that any responsibility for some mess or monumental task is not ours

to bear. However, in an individualis$c culture growing more and more ego$s$cal, we have to guard ourselves against indifference to the needs of our

brothers and sisters among us. In today’s Gospel Jesus makes it abundantly clear that we have an obliga$on to one another to keep each other !accountable. This means that some$mes we have to speak up and act, even risking our popularity or the loss of good favor, to help and others avoid !obvious pi.alls in their faith and life. While the Gospel will also call for personal responsibility, we are never called to be islands unto ourselves, a/er

all, isn’t this why Jesus created a church out of a community? None of us has the right to judge another’s heart, but we can make a stand against !immorality, scandal, hatred, bigotry, and sin. We were all called together to help each other on the way to heaven, on the way to fulfillment in Christ.

Let us do our part in this great project of which we are all an important part!!!In His joy, !!!Reverend Father Daniel J. Gu$errez!
