Section was held at Hotel Valley View, Manipal on Sunday November 16,2008 at 5 pm.

The function started with Prayer by Dr. Rekha. After the Chairperson, Dr. Ashima Valiathan, adorned theChairperson's collar, she declared the 22nd Annual Convocation and Aw ards Ceremony "Open". hom the land of the setting sun, before one fallsoff into the Pacific Ocean, comes our newly installedInternational Presid ent Charles Eller.

UUIJI ill Jaues vllle , Wisconsin. andearned his und ergradu ate degree from Beloit Co llege(Wi :1IX1I\sin) and lib dental degree lrom Marquett eUniversity School of Dentistry in Milwaukee. He thenserved as an officer for the U. S. Navy at the Grea tLakes Naval base in Illinois and later in San Diego,California. From there he established his dental prac­tice in La Me sa (Sa n Diego), Ca lifornia, where hepracticed for 48 years. His dear wife, Gloria, was hischair side ass istant for 46 yea rs.

Dr. Eller went throu gh the chairs to become Presi ­dent of the San Diego County Dental Soc iety. Dur­ing that time he became a Fe llow in PFA, AC D, andICD . As a Fellow in PFA he accepted the position ofSouthern Ca liforni a Secti on Cha ir. From this offic e,Dr. Eller was recognized for his outstanding leader­ship and was -asked to become Region 5 Trustee.Thereafter his talents earn ed the respect of his peersto be asked to get into the PFA International Chairsas Vice President in 2006 .

For his 18 years ofservice in organizing the Sci­entific Sessions in Anaheim, and in San Francisco,with PF A Fe llow Ha ns Sjoren (now deceased), he

was nicknam ed the "Godfather,"

Other honors earned h ave been the B.B.McCollum Award, the Peter K. Thomas Award, andthe Color Pe Anchieta Aposto lo do Brasil Medalfrom the Brazilian government at their capitol build­ing in Sao Pau lo. The Elle rs were honor ed at a re­ception in the Rcichstag in Berl in, by a ChineseDeputy Ministe r in Beijing , by Taiwan President Dr.Lee, and with Pres ident Haggarty oflreland-oversome 50 countries.

Th e Eller's curre nt project has been to send equip­ment and supplies to needy areas of Mexico, espe­cia lly to the Baja Ca lifornia School Sys tem-some2,500 items so far!

But Chuck and Gloria have also engaged in lifewith two fine daughters and a grandson. Th ey areopera fans for some 40 years and sponsor Mozart atthei r local opera theater. Sk iing and exercising arealso endeavors to fill their free time .. .
