Overview of FHA Minimum Property Standards (MPS) –aka Minimum Property Requirements (MPR) HUD SFH 4000.1 (To verify that a property comprise a single, readily marketable real estate entity eligible for FHA mortgage insurance.) What are the FHA Minimum Property Standards/Requirements MPS by Category (multiple units on single lot, easements/access, utilities, general requirements, roofi ng, electric, heating)
Introduction to Commercial InspectionsSUNDAY 8:00 – 10:00 AM Commercial Inspections Rob Claus, BrickKickerCommercial inspections have always been an afterthought or bonus work for most inspectors and inspection fi rms. In 2016 Rob Klaus decided to make it his passion. Having spent so many years in homes it was going to be a nice change to be in large and potentially more complicated buildings and projects. He designed a complete marketing strategy, reporting system, management platform and using an industry leading Standards of Practice set forth to launch an entirely new division of The BrickKicker. This division was christened in July of 2016 and in the last fi ve months of 2016 he completed 26 projects; in 2017, 51 projects and in 2018, 91 projects—all while still doing 200+ home inspections and growing the business.
This course is designed to introduce the Residential Home Inspector to the Commercial Inspection. Most commercial inspections use the same basic skills that a residential inspector has already perfected. The residential inspector understands how to maneuver through a building logically. They know how the various systems work and interact with each other. The residential inspector understands how to communicate. The biggest difference is the size and complexity of the systems. We will cover: Defi ning the Commercial Inspection - Find The Opportunity - Who Can Do Commercial Inspections - Types of Buildings - Pricing Models - The Process - Sales and Marketing Strategies - Questions and Answers - Building Effi ciency
How home inspections are changing to serve a new kind of homebuyer SUNDAY 10:30 – 12:30 PM Building Effi ciency Ken Slattery, The Building People
Studies: Homeowner/buyers care about energy effi ciency, as do real estate agents • How lenders are getting into the energy effi ciency game • MLS and online portals: incorporating the Home Energy Score • What is the U.S. DOE Home Energy Score? How does it address the changing market described above? • What policies around the country are driving the Home Energy Score at point of sale? • How can the Score help home inspectors grow their businesses? • What are the steps and costs to becoming a Home Energy Score Certifi ed Assessor?
