This map illustrates satellite-detected flood waters inthe Caia, Chemba, Mopeia and Mutarara andMorrumbala Districts of Mozambique and NsanjeDistrict of southern Malawi along the Shire River asdetected by Landsat-7 imagery acquired 07 February2015. It is likely that flood waters have beensystematically underestimated along highly vegetatedareas along main river banks, and within built-upurban areas because of the special characteristics ofthe satellite data used. This analysis has not yet beenvalidated in the field. Please send ground feedback toUNITAR /UNOSAT.
