NTPC priced its second INR denominated 5 year Masala Bonds offering

thfor ̀ 2000 crores, in the international markets on 25 April 2017, becoming

the only State Owned Enterprise to tap Masala Bonds market twice. This

is the eighth offering under the company’s US$ 4 billion Medium Term

Note (MTN) programme since it was set up in 2006, taking the cumulative

amount raised under the programme to US $ 3.46 billion (approx.).

Given the strong credentials of NTPC in the International Bond Market, the issue was oversubscribed with

participation of more than 40 accounts and based on the strong order book the Notes have been successfully

priced at a coupon of 7.25% payable annually.

The 5 year Senior Unsecured RegS Masala Bonds of NTPC have been issued at the lowest yield for any

Masala bond by an Indian issuer till date and have been priced within AAA Corporate Bonds of equivalent

tenor in domestic market.

The Company intends to use the proceeds of the issue to finance its ongoing and new power projects within

India.

Solar tariffs in India reduced to yet another record low at the NTPC-conducted auction of 250 MW at the

Kadapa Solar Park in Andhra Pradesh. The project has been awarded to the Indian arm of French clean

energy firm Solairedirect SA which quoted levelised tariff of Rs 3.15/KWh. The earlier record of ̀ 3.30 per unit

levelised tariff for Rewa Ultra Mega Solar Power Project in Madhya Pradesh has been broken by NTPC.

At current rates, solar power generation cost is at par with that of thermal power generation. Solar power tariff

has been declining on account of sharply declining prices of solar panels, better structuring of the project that

reduces risk for project developers and better currency hedging deals that make financing available at

competitive cost.

Around 24.8 million miles of roads crisscross the surface of Earth and hundreds of millions of barrels of oil have been used for that development. Engineer Toby McCartney came up with a solution to that waste of natural resources and the growing plastic pollution problem. His company, Scotland-based MacRebur, lays roads that are as much as 60 percent stronger than regular asphalt roads and last around 10 times longer – and they’re made with recycled plastic.City roads require a lot of maintenance over time as weather deteriorates them and potholes open up. Meanwhile there are around five trillion pieces of plastic in the ocean. McCartney came up with an answer to both issues. He turns 100 percent recycled plastic into what he calls MR6 pellets, or small pellets of waste plastic, which replace bitumen, the material used to bind roads together (extracted from crude oil) and sold by oil companies like Shell.Normal roads are comprised of around 90 percent rock, sand, and limestone, with 10 percent bitumen. MacRebur’s process replaces most of the bitumen, using household waste plastic, farm waste, and commercial waste. Much of the trash would have otherwise ended up in a landfill.At asphalt plants the MR6 pellets are mixed with quarried rock and a bit of bitumen, and a plant worker told the BBC the process is actually the same “as mixing the conventional way with additions into a bitumen product.”McCartney was inspired to design plastic roads after his daughter’s teacher asked the class what lives in the ocean, and his daughter said, “Plastics.” He didn’t want her to grow up in a world where that was true. He also spent time in India, where he saw locals would fix holes in the road by putting waste plastic into the holes and then burning it. He started MacRebur with friends Nick Burnett and Gordon Reid.MacRebur’s first road was McCartney’s own driveway, and now the company’s roads have been laid in the county of Cumbria in the United Kingdom.

A whooping budget of 2.5 billion has gone into the production of both movies-Bahubali and Bahubali 2. Bahubali 2, produced by Shobu Yarlagadda and presented in Telugu and Tamil languages. K.V. Vijayendra Prasad is the writer of both movies. Kotagiri Venkateswara Rao, the editor has been joined by the internationally-acclaimed ‘Incredible Hulk’ Hollywood editor, Vincent Tabaillon to edit an international version of the movie tailored to the Indian version to screen at film festivals.

The Hindi version of this movie has been jointly produced by Karan Johar of Dharma Productions and Anil Thadani of AA films. The climax of the movie itself is budgeted to be around 30 crores, which is double the budget of its prequel’s climax. 60% of the movie has been filmed at Ramoji Film City, Hyderabad. The film opened at 9000 screens worldwide, with almost 6,500 screens in India alone, becoming the first movie to get such a massive release. And while its team continued to hard sell the film prior to its release, many also doubted whether it will live up to all the hype, but the SS Rajamouli directorial didn’t disappoint. The film raked in ̀ 121 crore in India on day one of its release, and a total of ̀ 217 crore worldwide.

The first weekend collections for the film are a mind-boggling ̀ 540 crore worldwide.

Bahubali started raking in the moolah even before its release. In a record-breaking deal, Sony TV Network bagged the satellite rights of the film. Sony has bought the satellite rights of Bahubali 2’s Hindi version for a record price of `51 crore. It is the highest price channel has paid for a dubbed film so far.
