Students from Business Technology @ UNIMY carry out substantial individual projects in their final year.

The Final Year Project provides the opportunity for students to demonstrate all that they have learnt throughout their studies. For the business students, this means applying the fundamentals of business and computing, blending business skills with computing technology, incorporating the fundamentals programming, utilising the technology to support business processes and many more. All final year students are required to build a final project based on the programmes taken.

The purpose of this study is to analyse the customers’ attitudes towards online food ordering & delivery system (in Ruby’s Delights Restaurant & Catering Sdn Bhd) influenced by perceived usefulness and perceived ease of use. This study also aims to determine whether or not customers have the intention to use the online food ordering and delivery system. The scope of this study is a preliminary attempt to identify factors and their relative strength in influencing consumer decision making when buying foods online.

TEMPERATURE AND HUMIDITY MONITORING SENSOR TO ENHANCE STUDENT SATISFACTION IN UNIMY CYBERJAYA The purpose of this study is to determine students’ satisfaction in classroom learning environment at UNIMY Cyberjaya Campus. Both descriptive and inferential statistics were used to analyse the data using the SPSS version 23.0. Correlation analysis was conducted to test the relationship between students’ satisfaction with classroom facilities and learning environment; whereas descriptive analysis was conducted to analyse demographic characteristics of respondents. The findings showed that only learning environment and classroom facilities had a significant impact on students’ satisfaction.

PARKING FOUNDER (MOBILE APPLICATION) USING ANDUINO SYSTEM TO ENHANCE CUSTOMER SATISFACTION AT THE DPULZE MALL, CYBERJAYA

ParkQ00 is a platform to find parking to make it easy for user to search for parking in the parking mall car parks. This will help the customers to find an empty parking space using live information from the smart parking sensor system that has been installed in the parking spot in the mall. The purpose of this FYP is to determine the factors of customers satisfaction among the customers at DPulze Mall and they found that both perceived value and service quality positively influenced customer satisfaction.

It is an international award-winning investigative journalism platform based in Malaysia specialising in short multimedia documentaries and cause-driven media campaigns.

KPMG Innovative ChallengeUNIMY students won the inaugural KPMG Cyber Security Challenge. This competition heightened awareness and further encouraged students to pursue careers as Cyber Security Professionals.

BFM: A.I For Good HackathonUNIMY students participated in the inaugural Hackathon, which was organised by an established local business station, BFM. The students consolidated their resources to design and build Artificial Intelligence (AI)-enabled smart city applications for the community. It focuses on the urban poor, disabled and homeless as well as non-governmental organisations that support these groups in Malaysia.

CIMB Data Science ChallengeUNIMY students won the 5th runner-up prize in the CIMB Data Science Challenge competition. This annual challenge is open to university students to test participants’ application and knowledge of data preparation and data mining.

FINAL-YEAR PROJECTS (FYP)

Students from Computing @ UNIMY will carry out substantial individual project in their final year.

The Final Project will incorporate all the courses that have been studied from the first year of studies. It includes analysing and designing a system or software, the use of databases, data structures and algorithms, web programming, data communications, and more. Final year students are required to build a final project based on their programme or courses attended.

A STUDY OF DISTANCE ACCURACY USING BLUETOOTH LOW ENERGY BEACONS

This FYP is a study of distance accuracy using Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) beacons. There are two phases involved, calibration and calculation phase. In calibration phase, Received Signal Strength Indicator (RSSI) signal produced by the BLE beacons are collected at the actual distance of one meter away from device. Kalman filtering is employed to smooth the collected RSSI(s). In conclusion, BLE beacons are still the preferred choice to be used as a wireless technology in an indoor positioning system.

A COMPARATIVE STUDY ON NOISE REMOVAL METHODS FOR IMAGE ENHANCEMENT

Images are often corrupted with noises, thus increasing the difficulty to interpret the image. This FYP is a comparative study on different enhancement methods which focuses on preserving edge and smoothing image. The common noises found in gray scale image are Salt and Pepper noise and Gaussian noise. For Salt and Pepper noise, a proposed filtering method from resulted a promising output. The method is analyzed for Gaussian noise suitability and made some improvement on the method. This FYP discovered the methods to remove noise for image enhancement to help beginners in image processing field to understand the details on image enhancement.

E-RECRUITMENT SYSTEM FOR FOOD AND BEVERAGE (F&B) OUTLETS

This FYP provides a systematic approach for software developers to verify the android application vulnerabilities in the testing phase. The application helps solve problems faced by F&B outlet managers to hire competent kitchen staff. This application also helps jobseekers to get hired, especially for those part-timers and full-timers who are interested to gain experience in the industry. The system is developed based on the Evolutionary Prototyping model. It evolved based on customer feedback and cost for the changing requirements are much lesser compared to other models. The analysis design utilises Swimlane Diagram which is a type of flowchart.

SMART MIRROR INTERACT WITH HAND GESTURES USING RASPBERRY PI 3

This FYP is inspired by “Magic Home Mirror” device, which is uses Nexus 7 table platform attached with one-way mirror, where it can show webpage, time, and weather information. By modifying the device and attached with Raspberry Pi 3, which is microcomputer chip, this project can interact and used for different purpose by using additional peripherals that can be attached to Raspberry Pi 3. The prototype of Smart Mirror is able to interact with Hand gestures and ready to be used in the store at the shopping mall. It also helps the store to promote their product and reduce their marketing budget.

THE field of computer engineering requires a slightly different skill set than programming, but much of the underlying theory is the same. For many computer engineering careers, strong programming skills are essential as computer software must be designed to work with a specific set of hardware.

At UNIMY, computer engineering students will be exposed to essential computer programming, data communication and networking, operating systems and other comprehensive courses on hardware and software aspects of computers and digital systems. Students will acquire knowledge and skills in tackling and solving technical and scientific problems related to computing and engineering.

A great programme for students who have an interest in developing hardware-based projects or products related to IoE & IR4.0. SMART PET FEEDER SYSTEM AND BIG DATA PROCESSING TO PREDICT PET FOOD SHORTAGE

This FYP is a Smart Pet Feeder System that could predict a shortage of pet food to help pet owners feed their pets when they are not around. The components used include an HX711 Load cell amplifier, an Ultrasonic sensor, an infrared sensor, and a Servo Motor. The pet owners will receive notification through the Telegram App when their pets are fed and if the pet food level is low. The system will dispense pet food automatically at an appropriate time when pets come near the pet feeder.

Students from Computer Engineering @ UNIMY will carry out substantial individual projects in their final year. Intriguing hardware and software development projects have been developed to offer solutions that could be beneficial in real-life scenarios.

SMART AUTOMATION DOOR

This FYP developed a low-cost automated door lock system so users could operate systems from anywhere in the world with internet access. This technological solution uses hardware and software technologies that enable control and management over appliances and devices located within a home. IoT is applied in the integration of several technologies for communication and performing some actions.

PORTABLE REAL-TIME BMI NUTRITIONAL ADVICE

This FYP is an IOT-based Portable Real-Time Body Mass Index (BMI) nutritional advice that could keep current and previous users’ records and computing their real-time BMI. A portable real-time measuring system was created using an HX711 Load cell amplifier and an Ultrasonic sensor. It would measure the height and weight and then auto-calculate the user’s BMI and give nutritional advice using a web-based application.

SMART CALLING DOORBELL

This FYP helps house owners to identify their visitors through a phone call without going to the door. The main component used for this system is SIM900 GSM GPRS Shield and Arduino UNO R3. The GSM module provides a way to communicate using the AT command. When the doorbell is pressed, it makes a voice call from the GSM shield module to the house owner’s phone number that is entered through the Arduino serial monitor. Visitors can communicate with the house owner through the speaker and microphone attached to the doorbell.

UNIMY Apprentice Scholarship in Computer Engineering is a full scholarship programme that is awarded to qualified and Computer Engineering students who have a strong desire to pursue a career path as a leader. Scholars are required to actively participate in the university and the company events. Upon Graduation, scholars will be bonded for 2 years with the Company. Scholars are paired with an academic mentor- this is usually an industry practitioner who can provide them with advice on the best routes into the ICT industry and insights into how to shape their professional development. 1) Only registered UNIMY students may apply for accommodation with UNIMY Hostel Management.2) All successful applicants are required to fulfil an initial one-year tenancy agreement.3) The deposit is fully refundable upon the following condition : - The applicant fulfils the initial one-year tenancy agreement, and subsequent renewed tenancy (if any) - UNIMY hostel management is satisfied that no damages occurred for all items in the unit except due to normal wear and tear.4) Should the applicant fail to check-in 1 week after the tenancy start date / expected check-in date, no refund will be given for all payments made and the Room reservation will be released

immediately without further notice.5) Applicants are required to pay two (2) months rental fee in advance prior to checking in and five (5) months rental fee in advance for 2nd and 3rd payment during the one year tenancy

period.6) Beds are allocated on first-come-first-serve basis at the discretion of UNIMY Hostel Management. All reservations made are not transferable.7) In the event that applicant: i) Terminate the Agreement at any time prior to the expiry of the Term OR ii) Asked to vacate the accommodation by reason of having contravened the UNIMY Rules UNIMY shall be entitled to forfeit the general deposit paid as agreed liquidated damages, including all rental paid in advance.8) All refunds must be claimed by the applicant or the applicant’s parent/guardian/next of kin within one (1) year from the check-out-date. Any claims thereafter will be not be entertained.9) UNIMY Hostel Management reserves the right to proceed with any and all refurbishment, improvement, inspection and/or maintenance works in all units and rooms as and when
