Qualifications, Experience and Objectives relevant to the position I was born and raised on the marae at Te Wairoa but hail from three Marae of Ngāti Ranginui, Huria, Hangarau and Wairoa. I was surrounded by Kaumatua from a very young age and fostered for roles on the Paepae, Āpotoro and in the kitchen where I continue to serve our people in these areas. It is here I was taught “listen to the people” a value I hold fast to everything I do. I have a background in health and Māori development and have worked in Iwi, NGO, local and Central Government. I have decided to run for re-election to continue the great mahi the Trust does. To diversify our portfolios, increase our environmental conscience and create enduring whakapapa, cultural and economic opportunities with our Takitimu waka kin to utilise resources we have for maximum benefit for our people and ensure that it reaches our people.

I am and always will be in service to my people, I do this by pushing back on the barriers and stigmas that are in place to keep Māori at bay. I have built with my own hands the largest Māori owned roading business in this country, with aspiration to continue to grow.
I am currently in the 2nd year of completing my masters in Māori and indigenous leadership with Canterbury university. I entered into this masters to formalise and expand on the hands-on experience gained from my 22 years in the roading industry with 10 of those years being self-employed. I have been with the Pirirākau Incorporated Society for 3 and a half years with 18 months as chairperson. I have been a member of the Tauranga Māori business association for 5 years and am now on the board. I am a member of the Institute of directors and have a desire to complete an MBA in the near future.
My mission is to create innovative mechanisms for Maori organisations in order to create inter-generational benefit for our people. I aim to achieve this by instilling and creating enduring platforms, pathways and training mechanisms that align with our being as Maori in this present time.
I like every other Māori fish, dive, hunt, mahi maara, preserve, have cows, pigs, chickens and trade and koha this kai with all my whanau. I am no scholar, saviour or any miracle worker I am Māori and that’s all we need to be.

Ngāti Ranginui Fisheries Trust Current Trustee
Qualifications, Experience and Objectives relevant to the position
I am a current trustee of the Ngāti Ranginui Fisheries Trust and I am seeking re-election for the new term.
I have been a dedicated Trustee and have attended all meetings held by the Board in my current term. I contribute to all aspects of the Trust’s work and enjoy sharing my knowledge of the fishing industry with fellow members.
I have worked in the fishing industry for many years. I have worked in the catching, processing, wholesale and retail seafood industry. I have managed fishing quota and also traded quota. I have a good understanding of the systems required to run those businesses.
In earlier times of the Māori Fisheries Settlement, I was a part of the Area 1 consortium of Northern Tribes to formulate models of allocation for the distribution of fisheries assets to maoridom. Earlier on I also taught customary regulations training courses on behalf of BOP Polytechnic.
I am a mother to 5 children. I enjoy participating in their education, sporting activities and support school and club activities.
My other interests include spending time with whanau and in our maara kai.
My goal is to see the Trust Assets grow, thus allowing more benefits back to the uri of Ngāti Ranginui Iwi and ensure that the Fish Trust practices good governance and maintains good investment strategies.
