2021 Sand Cup Event Rules

Futurity | Maturity

$10,000 added 2D Futurity [70% / 30% split | 2D to be paid out 1 second off of fastest futurity time per go round is open

to any horse that is a foal of 2016 or younger. If the horse is registered, send a copy of both sides of registration papers.

Unregistered horses must show proof of age by obtaining a veterinarian’s affidavit. Papers must accompany entry.

To enter the futurity, a horse must never have competed in a barrel race prior to November 15, 2020. This excludes time only

and exhibition runs. Futurity horses may compete in any race after November 15, 2020. Failure to comply with this rule will

result in elimination from the futurity and forfeiture of entry fees.

$2,000 added 2D Maturity is two go’s and an average. 2D will be paid on .75 second off of the fastest maturity time per

go round.

Maturity horses can be 5, 6, or 7 years old. A copy of registration papers or veterinarian’s affidavit of age must accompany

entry. May run horse more than one year.

Open to all riders. May ride more than one horse. Western wear required including long-sleeved shirts, cowboy boots, helmets

and / or hats.

Payoff: All Futurity/Maturity pots will be paid on 2 go’s and an average. 25% office fee deducted from entry fee.

An electric timer will be used. Ground will be tractor raked every five entries.

Substitutions and buy-outs will be allowed [see late fee schedule on entry page]. NO REFUNDS.

Futurity and Maturity horses may roll into the Open 5-D $2,000 added races on Sat. & Sun. by paying open fee and office

fee, no late fee will apply regardless of when roll to open entry is submitted. Futurity Payoff: Two go’s and an average will

be paid. Pot will be split into equal thirds between go’s and average.

Bonus Money

PESI = $5,000 total bonuses | $2000 Futurity, $1500 Maturity, $500 to each 5D Open

[Horse enrolled in PESI Program and ridden by WPRA member. Registered name and WPRA# are required]

Future Fortunes = $10,000 Bonus Money paid in Saturday 5D Open, paid in a 4D format.

[Must send in copy of registration papers, Future Fortunes Entry form and attached to Open entry]

Triple Crown = $5000 Bonus Money paid to Futurity. [Must send in copy of registration papers, Triple Crown Entry form

and attached to futurity entry]

Western Fortunes = $1,000 bonus money each in Futurity and Maturity for a total of $2,000.

To be eligible for Open Average Awards, you must be entered in all three open races.
