Meet the Teacher!
My Education:
In 2014, I received the Charles J. McClain Presidential
Scholarship from Fairmont State University. I soon became
a member of the Honors Society, was selected to be an
Ambassador for the Elementary Education Program, and
served as a Student Government representative for the
Faculty Senate. In May 2018, I graduated Summa Cum
Laude, with honors, with a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary
Education. I am a certified WV educator, hold multiple
NASA certifications, and look forward to continuing my
education in the future.
About Me:
I was raised in a house full of love, adventure, and just the right amount of crazy. A
combination that led my three brothers and I to each become the amazing
individuals we are today. Growing up, I was the president of almost every club and
the captain of my sport’s teams. I taught Sunday school, volunteered on a regular
basis, coached soccer, choreographed for dance teams, and won more awards
than I can count… but none of that has brought me the joy that Patchwork has.
Teaching is my passion and Patchwork is my dream!

Some of My Favorites:
I enjoy chocolate ice cream, yoga, Canon in D Major, Cheddar’s Scratch Kitchen,
Present Over Perfect by Shauna Niequist, Gilmore Girls, Philippians 4:6, cheese pizza,
fall weather, camping, hiking, the color blue, and Christmas.

o Adults are encouraged to wear a mask during this time.
o Ideally, the same parent or designated person should drop off and pick up the
child every day. If possible, older individuals, such as grandparents or those with
serious underlying medical conditions, should not pick-up children, because they
are more at risk for severe illness from COVID-19.
• Parents/guardians will not be permitted inside the preschool except in the event of an
emergency.
o If an adult must enter, they must be wearing a mask, will be checked and must
not have a temperature of 100.4° or higher, and must use hand sanitizer before

• An infrared thermometer will be used to check each child’s temperature BEFORE
entering the preschool. (Students with a temperature of 100.4° will not be permitted to

wear a mask while attending preschool.
• Children are no longer allowed to bring additional items into the preschool such as
backpacks or stuffed animals.

Change of Clothing
Dear Parents,
Sometimes, a situation occurs in which a change of clothes is
required. Please send a complete change of clothing (a shirt, pants,
underwear, and socks) inside this Ziploc bag. Write your child’s name
on the bag so that we can find it quickly. I will keep his/her clothes in
the classroom to be used if needed.
Thanks,
Miss Katie
Clothing ▪ It is incredibly important that your child is dressed appropriately
(amount/type of clothing and shoes) for the weather
conditions each day.
▪ After your child is registered, he/she will receive a Ziploc bag
with the note below. Please be sure to follow the directions on
the note and return the bag on the first day of preschool.

Drop Off / Pick Up
Information Drop Off Information:
The outside door to the preschool will be unlocked at 8:55am for the morning 4-5
year old class and the morning 3-4 year old class. The outside door to the preschool
will be unlocked at 12:25 for the afternoon 3-4 year old class. Children will not be
admitted inside the building before this time. Your child must be signed in by you. I
do ask that you refrain from venturing into the classroom during morning drop off to
avoid exacerbating separation anxiety and to allow the children to begin their day.
It is important that your child is on time, so he/she has the opportunity to participate
in all the day has to offer.
Pick Up Information:
Children are to be picked up between 11:55am and 12:00pm for the morning 4-5
year old class and between 11:25am – 11:30am for the morning 3-4 year old class.
Children in the afternoon 3-4 year old class should be picked up between 2:55pm –
3:00pm. Parents/guardians and individuals on the approved pick-up list must sign the
child out. Individuals should have their photo ID with them at pick up. Children will
not be released to any individual not listed on the approved pick-up form. Children
should collect all their belongings and check their mailbox for artwork, important
notes, etc. each day before leaving.
Additional Information:
− As stated in the contract, you can be billed a late/early fee of $1/minute per
child if you are earlier and/or later than your contracted hours.
− Repeated failure to pick up/drop off your child at scheduled times can result
in the termination of your contract.
− On the days in which payments are due, a black mailbox is mounted on the
right wall inside the door for money to be placed in.
o Payments made in cash must be sealed in an envelope and clearly
marked with your child’s first and last name.
o Checks must be made payable to “Patchwork Preschool.”
− Snacks can be given directly to the teacher at the door.
13
Snack Information
It is the hope of Patchwork Preschool that snacks will be provided by
the parents/guardians. Each month, a snack calendar that details
when each student is responsible for bringing snack will be distributed.
A note with the number of students in the class and a list of any known
allergies will be sent home at the beginning of the year.
Parents/guardians are encouraged to select healthy snacks that are
pre-packed and individually wrapped. The following are some
suggestions: apple slices and peanut butter, pretzel sticks, grapes,
cheese sticks and crackers, bananas, raisins, veggie straws,
applesauce, mandarin oranges, yogurt, and banana nut muffins.
Please know that it is not necessary to supply drinks, as water will be
provided, but you may bring juice for the children to enjoy if you would
like.
The calendar will be designed so that children with birthdays during the
school year have the opportunity to bring snack on, or close to, his/her
birthday. On birthday snack days you are welcome to send a less-
healthy snack such as pre-packed cupcakes or cookies.
Note: If you are unable to bring snack on your scheduled day for any
reason, you are asked to contact Miss Katie as soon as possible.

St. Mark’s Lutheran Church
What are Lutherans?
Lutherans are people who see
God’s intent for the world from a
perspective of grace. The Biblical
stories – as well as our lives – are
places where God’s Spirit shares
us into a mission-focused Christian
community. Lutherans trust that,
in love for all creation, God came
to us in the person of Jesus whose
life, death and resurrection
opened to us a new way of living
in the world.
Lutherans are liturgical which
means they use the ancient
structure for worship which dates
back to the early church. They
are historical, taking their name
from Rev. Martin Luther, a
reformer of the 16th century,
whose biblical scholarship has
been unsurpassed. Lutherans are
ecumenical, working closely with
other denominations. We are
evangelical, desiring to share the
love of God in Christ with others.
Finally, Lutherans understand that
our public and civic lives are
areas in which to express our faith
and so we are active in support of
various community agencies, our
local schools and other groups
which help people who are in
need.
