Ross Jones joined the St.Johns River State College coach­ing staff as the head baseballcoach on June 10, 2008 and as­sumed the position of athleticdirector on June 1, 2009. Aftereleven seasons at SJR State, Jones hasanoverallrecordof379-203(.651) and a Mid-Florida Con-ference record of 169-91 (.650).Theseelevenseasonshavebeenamong the program’s most suc­cessful in its59-yearhistoryandinclude three consecutive Mid-Florida Conference Champion­ships and six trips to the FCSAAState/NJCAA Region 8 Tourna­

ment. DuringJones’firstseasonatthehelm,heledtheVikingstoa33-17 record and a fourth-placefinish in theMid-Florida Confer-ence. In 2010, the Vikings re­turnedtotheFCSAAState/NJCAARegion8Tournamentforthefirsttime since 1989 after finishingsecond in the Mid­Florida Con­ference.In2013,theVikingswontheirfirstMid-FloridaConferenceChampionship since 1977, fol­lowed by a second consecutiveMid-Florida Conference Cham­pionship in 2014 with an overall recordof 37-14anda20-4 con­ferencerecord. 2015 was a special season!The Vikings enjoyed the bestseason in school history, fin­ishing 47-10 overall 19-4 in theMid-Florida Conference. The 47winssmashedtheformerschoolrecord of 38 wins in a season.The Vikings captured their thirdstraight Mid-Florida ConferenceChampionshipandfinishedthirdat the FCSAA/NJCAA Region 8Tournament. On March 18, theVikingsalsoclimbedtothetopoftheNJCAANationalBaseballPoll,ranking#1inthecountryforthefirsttimeinschoolhistory. 2016wasanotheroutstand­ingseasonastheVikingspostedanoverallrecordof42-14.IntheMid-Florida Conference, the Vi­kingsposteda16-7recordtofin­ish in second place. The Vikingsalso made their fourth consec­utive trip to the NJCAA Region

8/FCSAA State Tournament, fin­ishing5thinthe10teamfield.In2017,theVikingsposteda37-18overall recordanda19-5 recordin the Mid-Florida Conference.Their19-5recordintheMFCtiedforthebestrecordinconferenceplay. Jones began his coachingcareer as an assistant to DustyRhodesattheUniversityofNorthFlorida, where he spent a total ofthreeseasonsintwoseparatestints (1993 and2000-2001).Hespentsixseasonsasanassistantcoach at Vanderbilt Universi­ty (1994-1999), serving as thepitching coach and recruitingcoordinator. Jonesalso spent sixseasons as the pitching coach and recruiting coordinator atthe University of Florida underHeadCoachPatMcMahon.AsarecruitingcoordinatoratVander-biltandFlorida,Joneshelpedsignsomeof themost talentedplay-ers,notonlyinFlorida,butacrossthenation.Sevenofhisrecruitingclasseswererankedinthetop25nationally,with three in the top10.His2003and2005recruitingclasses at theUniversity of Flor­ida were both ranked numberthree inthenationbyCollegiate Baseball Mag azine. As a pitching coach, Joneshastutored68pitcherswhohavegoneontosignprofessionalcon-tracts, including Clinton Johnston, the Pittsburgh Pirates’ numberonedraftpickin1998.Also,nineof Jones’ pitchers have received

All-American honors, includingToddEwasko, theNCAADivision2NationalPitcherof theYear in2001, and Justin Hoyman, theSoutheasternConferencePitcheroftheYear in2004.WhileJoneswascoachingattheUniversityofNorth Florida in 2000 and 2001, the Ospreys won consecutivePeach Belt Conference crownsand appeared in back-to-backNCAA Division 2 College WorldSeries.UNFfinished third in thenation both years. Jones alsoplayed a major role in the Univer­sity of Florida’s 2005 Southeast-ern Conference championshipand the Gators’ postseason run to the NCAA Division 1 CollegeWorld Series, where the GatorsplayedintheNationalChampion­ship Series against the University ofTexas. Jones is a 1984graduateofPalatkaHighSchool andwas se-lected by the Texas Rangers inthe1984Major LeagueBaseballamateur draft. He spent sevenseasons pitching for the TexasRangersandMontrealExposmi­norleaguesystems.Afterretiringfromprofessionalbaseball,JonesearnedhisA.A.degree fromSJRState in 1991 andhis bachelor’sdegree in education from theUniversity of North Florida in1993. Jones isanavidoutdoors­manandenjoyshuntingandfish­inginhissparetime.Rossandhiswife, Tish, have two sons, Tylerand Hunter, and two daughters,TaylorandTessa.

Tindall Field is a tribute toCoach John Tindall for his 34years of service and dedicationto St. Johns River State College.His devotion and commitmentto academic and athletic excel­lence earned him the respect and admiration of his players, fellowcoachesandthecommunity. Coach Tindall served as the head baseball coach for 30years and amassed 493 victo­ries, six Mid-Florida ConferenceChampionships and nine FCCAA

State Tournament appearances.He is a member of the FCCAAHall of Fame and a recipient ofthe FCCAA Baseball Coaches

AchievementAward. CoachTindallwillforeverberememberedforhisabilitytomo­tivateandencourageyoungpeo­

pletostriveforsuccessonandoffthefield.

After graduating from theUniversity of North Florida in1974, John Theobold taught

science and math during his 15years of teaching. During thoseyears, he also coached football,baseball,and trackandfield.Hetaught and coached at OrangePark High School, Crescent CityJr./Sr. High School and Inter­lachenHighSchool. In 1989, Theobold becamethe assistant principal for Inter­lachenHighSchool,apositionheheldforeightyearsbeforetrans­ferring to W.H. Beasley MiddleSchool, where he served as prin­cipaluntil2000.Theoboldservedasthedirectorofhumanresourc­esforthePutnamCountySchool

District from 2000 - 2006, andwas the area director and chiefnegotiatorfrom2004-2009.Hethen became an area directorand principal during the years 2006-2009. After retiring from the Put­namCounty SchoolDistrictwithatotalof35yearsinpublicedu­cation,TheoboldbeganassistingAthleticDirectorandHeadCoachRoss Jones at SJR State College in2009.Heservesasamemberof the Lee ConleeHouse Board,the SJR State FoundationBoard,the SJR State Athletic Associa­tion Board, and has served on

the UnitedWay Board of Direc­tors, theFloridaEducationalNe­gotiators Board and thePutnamCounty Recreational Board. Hereceivedhisbachelor’sandmas­ter’sdegreesfromtheUniversityofNorthFlorida.Heplayedfoot­ballattheUniversityofRichmondfrom1970-1971andbaseballatSJRStatefrom1971-1972. Theoboldenjoysfishingandgolf in his spare time. He andhis wife, Sally, have two chil­dren,JenniferandJoe,andthreegrandchildren, Aila, Lachlan andNaomi.

J.D. Douglas has been theHead Athletic Trainer at St. JohnsRiverStateCollegesinceDecember,2010.Heisthefirstfull-timeathlet­ictrainer inschoolhistory.DouglasservedforsixyearsintheU.S.NavyasaHospitalCorpsman.Aftermili­tary service, he received a degree in athletictrainingattheUniversityofNorth Florida.Douglas hasworkedas an athletic trainer at the HighIntensity Training Center of Jack­sonville,PaxonSchoolforAdvancedStudies in Jacksonville, and the Uni­versityofNorthFlorida. Douglas is nationally certifiedinathletic trainingby theBoardofCertificationand is licensedby theState of Florida’s Department ofHealth.He isamemberoftheNa­tionalAthleticTrainer’sAssociationand the Jacksonville Sports Medi­cineProject. He has been married to hiswife Jennifer since2001andhasasonnamedJack.

Joe Pound enters his third sea­son as an assistant coach with the Vikings. Pound will work with theinfielders and hitters and assist with recruitingefforts. In2019,theVikingsoffensefin­ishedthirdintheFCSAAinhomerunswith42,andtiedforfourthinstolenbaseswith102.LangstonProvittwasnamed1stTeamAllMid-FloridaCon­ference. Nick Romano, Ryan Roma­no,andRileyWashwerenamed2ndTeamAllMid-FloridaConference. DuringPound’sfirstseasonin2018,theVikingoffensescored333runs,whiledrivingin288RBI’s.TheVikings were fourth in the FCSAAin team homerunswith 57.
