FEATURED SPEAKERS Rebecca M. Edelmayer, Ph.D., is director of scientific engagement for the Alzheimer’s Association, working with over 75 Alzheimer’s Association chapters across the country to accelerate the Association’s scientific agenda through the creation and delivery of research education. In addition, Dr. Edelmayer manages initiatives uniting researchers and clinicians with industry, regulatory agencies and the government on topics related to blood-based biomarker testing, use of digital health technologies and biotech approaches in studying dementia. Cynthia and Don Kent are attorneys in Tyler, Texas. The husband and wife have been practicing law for over 40 years. Mr. Kent, who was diagnosed with Lewy body dementia in 2017, specialized in defending medical malpractice cases and still enjoys learning about medicine. Mrs. Kent serves as a private attorney, court master, arbitrator and mediator. The Kents share Don’s diagnosis with the public in the hope of educating others about the disease and the availability of resources for patients and caregivers. The Alzheimer’s Association is pleased to present North Central Texas’ largest education event focused on caring for people with Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias. Serving a diverse and interconnected community of care providers, the all-day symposium features expert speakers, informative and engaging presentations, and an exhibit hall housing dozens of businesses that serve caregivers. Healthcare professionals and family caregivers will learn about dementia from experts in a variety of disciplines. Twelve different breakout sessions provide current, practical information for people in different stages of the disease, from the recently diagnosed to end-of-life. The symposium also offers continuing education for clinical and support personnel who would benefit from learning more about dementia.
