Greetings my Fellow Turners,

It has been awhile since I have reached out to you in Newsletter format. The club has been reopened and with some changes. We have changed our hours to better reflect the needs of our membership staying open during the busier times and opening later during others. This is all being done to use your membership dollars wisely.

The Board of Directors put a lot of thought into the change of hours of operations, best trying to meet the needs of you, our membership. Our lunches were extremely slow, as was our bar during the day and we have chosen to open up at 2:00pm on Monday, Tuesdays, Wednesday and Thursday remaining open until 10:00pm or later if there are members present. Many nights we are here until midnight or later as we have softball teams come down to the clubroom after their games. On Friday and Saturdays we are open from Noon to Midnight giving our families a chance to come out and grab a burger or something for lunch if they can’t make it out during the week. On Sundays the club is closed probably at least until football season but who knows what COVID or lack of COVID will bring. The Board is continually reviewing our hours and they are subject to change at any time. We will provide you electronic notice of any changes.

The Aurora Turner Club is following the Illinois Department of Public Health and Kane County guidelines under Phase 4 of the Restore Illinois Plan. We are using the proper Hand Cleaners and Disinfectants. The bar seating has been limited, tables and chairs have been rearranged and or removed from service to allow for the proper social distancing between our customers and as customers, members leave, the places they were seated at are being disinfected and cleaned each time throughout the day and night. All in accordance with CDC and IDPH guidelines.

We have limited the size of gatherings to maintain compliance so right now we will not be having Crossfire or Queen of Hearts starting in the Fall. This all is subject to change though as we follow the guidelines put forth by the State of Illinois.

Message from Your President continued…

We held elections this past Thursday night at our General Membership meeting. We had 2 candidates run for the open Director position. Nick Richardson is your new Director at the Aurora Turner Club. Nick is filling a partial term until the end of the year.

Nick has a background in Banking being employed by The Old Second Bank in North Aurora as the General Manager of the North Aurora Branch. He is also involved in playing softball here at the Aurora Turner Club and has volunteered his time helping out during events throughout the year. Bar backing, being a “Go-Fer” and helping as needed. I believe Nick will be a great addition to the Board of Directors and represent you, the membership, well. I welcome Nick Richardson and as you see him at the club please thank him for stepping forth to represent all of you.

Now I ask that you stop by the club once in awhile and help support your club. Whether you come in and sit down and have a social visit with you friends you haven’t seen in a while or you bring a group of your neighbors in to enjoy the air conditioning and catch up on neighborhood news along with a good burger or salad or a dinner special. You will find the Aurora Turner Club a Safe, Clean place to take a break.

As those of you who shop for your families or cook outside on the grill at home know your food prices have been rising. In some cases quite a bit. As have your home prices, so have the prices restaurants, bars and clubs pay for all of our products. Pricing changes you might see here at Turners also reflect those increased costs. The club has been working under a deficit for quite a few years with less than needed income and we need your participation and support by using the club more often.

I have said in many of my newsletter columns that you either have to have a large volume of business or raise the prices of each item you sell to stay in business. I have said in the past that the way I prefer is to have our members be here to support the club. More members using the club spreads the costs of all of our fixed assets over a greater number of persons generating income. We are not some of the other local clubs with only hundreds of members and little overhead or expenses. The Aurora Turner Club has many acres of property, multiple building including a gym and sports complex and a rental property. We have a softball field and property surrounding the main clubroom purchased with eyes toward the future. Due to circumstances beyond anyone's control we were hit by COVID-19 and all of the restrictions and curtailments that encompassed and still does.

If you want a night out please consider the Aurora Turner Club. Our drink prices are very reasonable. We offer our delicious Turner pizzas at a very reasonable price. Our Burgers and Sandwiches are very good and we offer a spacious Clubroom with all of the Social Distancing you might want. We have hand sanitizer and disinfecting soap products available and as I said, our bartenders wipe down and disinfect every time someone uses a seat, bar stool or table or bar top.

In closing, I do ask that you try to stop by the club. Our promise to you is to keep you safe and all we ask is that you give us a chance to show we are doing that. To all of our membership please be safe whether you are at home, at work or out shopping or out socially.

With the best of Turner Greetings to you and your families,

Randy Roe Aurora Turner Club President
