COACHES SECTIONAL MEET INFORMATION
1. Sign up for a free coach account at www.athletic.net (If you haven’t already)
a. Click here to go to the Athletic.net Arizona XC Homepage:

b. Find and Click on the link to your school.
c. Click “Sign Up for a free account”
d. Follow instructions to sign up and activate your account.
2. Add the sectional meet to your calendar.
a. Click “Edit Calendar under Coach Tools
b. Select the date of your sectional meet.
3. Chip timing will be used and provided by Wingfoot finish at all sectional meets:
4. Awards: The top fourteen (14) individuals will receive medals. The first place team will
receive a championship plaque.
5- Bicycles will not be allowed on the sectional courses. Coaches nor those associated with
a team are to ride bicycles as it can create an unfair advantage.
DEADLINES FOR SECTIONAL REGISTRATION
THURSDAY 12:00 PM, OCTOBER 29, 2020
All changes must to be done at the coaches meeting prior to race time with the Meet Director(s)
Sectional BIB Instructions for Coaches
1. Inspect your team packet to ensure you received all your bibs
a. Immediately notify meet management if you are missing any
b. Very important – this must be done before leaving the packet pickup area
2. Distribute your bibs to all competing athletes
a. All athletes must wear their assigned bib, as assigned on your team roster
b. Athletes that are not registered should not use someone else’s bib
c. Failure to properly distribute the bibs will result in inaccurate results
3. Athletes must properly secure their bibs with the provided safety pins

SECTIONAL MEET DIRECTOR
All athletes running at the Sectional Meet must be entered with Athletic.net.
All sections will be set up with Chandler High School being the host school.
Clyde Resendez will be in charge of down loading all entries for wingfootfinish.
Remind all teams that deadline for entering individuals and teams into state is Monday, 11/9 by
noon.
STATE QUALIFYING STANDARDS FROM THE SECTIONAL: (NEW FOR 2020)
Each Sectional race will qualify the ONE THIRD 33% of FULL (5 or more runners) teams
FINISHING AS A SCORING TEAM AT THE SECTIONAL MEET. If a Section has an odd
number of entered teams the number of qualifying teams will be rounded up. Example: 11
Sectional teams entered on athletic.net will qualify 4 teams for state.
Each Sectional race will qualify the top 7 finishers from teams that are NOT qualifying as
one of the top 1/3 finishing.
State entry deadline is Monday, November 9, 2020 at NOON.

RULES
Rules are those of the current edition of the National Federation Track and Field/ Cross Country
Rules and Records, AIA Constitution and Bylaws and these tournament instructions.
Bicycles will not be allowed on the Cross Roads Park Course. Nor are coaches or those
associated with a team to ride bicycles at the sectional cross country meet as it can create
an unfair advantage.
23.9.4 Practice on Site - A practice or competition on the site of the Sectional or Post-Season Championship Tournament, except for a regularly scheduled contest, is not permitted for seven calendar days prior to the Sectional or Post Season Championship, except in the case of the host school.

GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS
Certified Athletic Trainers will be on site; however, each school will be responsible for the
taping/wrapping of their own athletes; including the needed supplies. The ATC’s will be near the
finish line area.
Athletes are to bring their own labeled water containers
If a participant requires medical attention, the parent/guardian/coach will be notified by the
tournament staff to meet in the medical area. Under no circumstance is a parent or coach to enter
the restricted area unless requested, which includes the following areas: scoring, finish and chute.
TROPHIES/MEDALS
Awards will be as noted in the AIA Constitution and Bylaws. First place teams and runners-up will
receive team trophies. Individual medals will be awarded to the top 21 places in each race.
SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS
Teams are requested to follow timelines established for when the park is open for arrival, packet
pick up, establishing a team camp and walk through.
All teams arriving in mini busses or vans are to park in the lot on the east side of AZ Ice.
In order to maintain a safe and efficient environment for all the coaches, fans and workers are
required to wear a mask. Only athletes warming up or competing have the option not to wear a
mask.
Athletes can wear a mask as they check in for the their race and discard prior to the start of their
race.
Team camps are restricted to the east upper soccer fields.
Course maps will NOT be included in coaches packets. Down load a copy of the map from
www.aiaonline.org CoachesCross CountryState XC Map.
NO PETS ARE ALLOWED—unless they are service animals. Comfort animals will not be
allowed into the park at Cross Roads.

2020 ADMISSION PRICE NEW
Each athlete that qualifies for state will be allowed two spectators. Before you leave the sectional race
the coach must pick up these wrist bands.
Team Qualifying: There will be a color for the 14 spectators, a color for two additional student
athletes, manager or assistant coach and a color for the coach. Wrist bands MUST be put on before
entering the park.
Individual Qualifying: There will be two wrist bands for the spectators. A wrist band for the coach. If
more than one individual qualifies for state, there will still only be one wrist band for the coach.
The cost of each spectator wrist band is $10. The coach and the Athletic Director will need to confer
how this money will be collected from the spectators from the team. Each school will be billed on the
cycle one billing from the AIA Finance.
Any unused wrist bands will need to be turned in at the state meet. These will be deducted from the
billing.
There will be NO paid admission at the state meet.
Only one person will be allowed to enter on an AIA card. No guest will be allowed with the AIA card
holder.
Only the dressed competitor and the head coaches wrist band color will be allowed down into the lower
field area near the starting/finish line. However, these individuals need to stay out of the start line check
in and line and the finish corral.
PARKING/DIRECTIONS FOR TEAMS AND FANS
Team busses, vans and mini buses are to enter Cross Roads Park from the east from Greenfield road.
Busses are to park in the lot east of AZ Ice. Enter the first entrance into the parking lot.
Those teams that are being dropped off, should enter the same entrance as other busses. Pull in behind
(south) of AZ Ice. After offloading teams, these busses will exit.
There are to be no spectators or non-essential team personnel in the middle basin area—where the
starting and finish lines are.
HANDICAPPED PARKING
There are handicapped parking spaces available at the park.
The AIA and Gilbert Parks and Recreation are not responsible for lost or stolen articles.

d. Follow the instructions to sign up and activate your account.
2. Enter your athletes on the “Edit Athletes” page under Coach Tools.
3. Register your athletes for the STATE meet.
a. Click on the sectional meet in your calendar.
b. Click” Register Athletes” under Team Tools on the right-hand side.
c. Each qualifying team can only register up to seven (7) runner names.
d. Register the appropriate athletes and click “Save Registration”
All athletes running at the State Meet must be entered with Athletic.net. Logon and follow directions at
www.athletic.net.
All changes must to be done at the prior to race time. Fill in the form at the packet pick up tent. Bring a
pen or pencil.

PROGRAMS AND SOUVENIRS
PepWear is the official merchandise partner of the AIA.
o Sale or distribution of AIA State Tournament merchandise by any individual or company
other than PepWear at any AIA state tournament or championship event is prohibited.
Programs can be viewed for free on the AZPreps365 Live Mobile App, available on the Apple
App Store and Google Play Store.
The NFHS Network is the exclusive broadcast partner of the AIA for state tournament and
championship events.
o Video recording for live streaming of the event or for purpose of resale by any individual
or company other than the NFHS Network is strictly prohibited.

MEDIA CREDENTIAL POLICY
AIA has a Media Policy that needs to be followed to protect the proprietary rights of the Association and
to protect the student-athletes and coaches at region and state tournament events. The following link
(http://aiaonline.org/news/press_center.php) is to the AIA Media Center which houses the AIA online
media credential form and the AIA approved media list (those that have requested and been granted AIA
media credentials). The editor/manager of an outlet already granted access to AIA media credentials
must go online and order credentials for a member of the media not on the master list. Please note that
some members of the media might show up with freelance credentials. These have no pictures on them,
but do allow for access to the event per the designated media outlet on the AIA media credential.
Additionally, all member schools were allotted a number of school-based credentials for the school year.
These will allow admittance equal to a media or freelance credential.
