THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK
CHRIST OUR HEALER
MARK 2:1-12
Paralytic were very common in biblical times. Medical
report was not available for such disabled people and their
only hope was divine intervention. This passage tells about
a paralytic and the story deals with three principles for
having an encounter with God.
1. Extraordinary faith and persistence: They were
determined not to turn back when they had taken
a load of troubles by carrying the paralytic across
the dusty roads of that area.
When they got to the house where Jesus was, the
entrance was blocked and they were unable to get
in. it seemed as if all hope was lost. Then they had
only two options. To go back or find an alternative
way to enter the house.
However, extraordinary faith was the source of
their persistence. Hence, their faith in God
motivated them to overcome the barriers. More
so, faith develops perseverance (James 1:3).
Besides, when Jesus saw their faith, he said to the
paralytic, son your sins are forgiven thee (2:5). This
was based on the fact that they maintained
persistence (Matthew 7:7-8).
If your faith is true and genuine you will never give
up, because you know that God never give up.
Faith without action is dead (James 2:7). Someone
said “winners never quit and quitters never win”.
2. Forgiveness for sin: Jesus did not address the
paralytic’s direct need for healing because, he
wanted to clarify that man’s suffering rest on
separation from God. Sin is not the source of every
sickness; however, forgiveness for sin escorts
physical healing.
Though Jesus can forgive your sin, but religion,
custom and rituals cannot, neither can they bring
healing. Jesus alone has the authority to forgive sin
for he is from God. Therefore, I urge that you
humble yourself even as you are seated here
listening to the word of God. Repent and accept
your need for Jesus, a mediator to restore your
broken relationship with God.
3. The paralytic obeyed Jesus
“I tell you get up, take your mat and go home”, he
got up, took his mat and walked out in full view of
them all (Mark 2:11-12).
True faith demands action out of obedience. The
statement must have sounded too extreme to the
others, but the paralytic didn’t ask a question. He
did his own part, his friends did theirs persistently
and passionately. While God compassionately and
faithfully did his part, as the paralytic obediently
fulfilled his own role.
Brethren now is the time for you to take a step
forward in faith and in obedience to meet Christ
the healer for your divine healing from sicknesses,
infirmities, afflictions, poverty and failure
Remember, Christ is our healer. For us to enjoy his
healing, we must have extra-ordinary faith and
persistence, forgiveness of sin, receive forgiveness
and be obedient to his word.

Giving widens God’s smile The Lord loves a cheerful giver (2 Corinthians 2:7). It delights Him to see His people gladly opening their hearts and hands to provide for the needs of His Church and indeed of all His creatures. Through Paul, God repeatedly commends and praises those who gave of their funds and of themselves to Gospel work (2 Corinthians 8:1). NOTICE OF YEAR 2020 VESTRY MEETING/ELECTION
The church vestry meeting and election will come up today, closed yesterday, Saturday 15th 2020,12am. NOTE: The following conditions to be satisfied by those who desire either to serve as church wardens or to be elected into the PCC:
He/She must be a communicating communicant He/She must be a subscribing member of the
church He/She must not be a member of any secret
society or cult as defined in Canon XVII (5) of the constitution of the Church of Nigeria 2002(as amended)
He/She must be a person of godly character and conduct.
It is the responsibility of those nominating persons to contest for election into the PCC to ensure that those they are nominating have fulfilled the above listed conditions.
In the light of this, it is very important to note that no church can grow above the level of her leadership and so the spiritual growth of our church is not the responsibility of the Vicar alone but the responsibility of every one of us. The PCC is the leadership body of the church and so if our church is to grow spiritually - PCC members must be God fearing, they must live exemplary Christian lives and they must represent the church well at all times both within and outside the church. Producing this quality of leadership is the responsibility of all and not that of the Vicar alone. What therefore must we do for this quality of leadership to evolve? 1. Do not for whatever reason nominate or sponsor people of no or low integrity to contest for position 2. Take an interest in those presenting themselves or those being nominated for election and if you have information regarding why they are not suitable for such position, don't just assume that the Vicar knows come forward and share your information 3. If you consider yourself qualified to serve, stop hiding and present yourself for service, you need not wait for nomination, nominate yourself and get people to back it sponsor your nomination 4. Make sure that you are available on the day of vestry election to vote and be voted for. 5. Pay your church subscription at the right time in order to be able to fulfil item (4) and (5) above.
6. Pray that God will choose for himself those that he seeks to use for the growth and development of his church. CHURCH ACCOUNTS
