Dear Colleagues, Welcome to Hackney Learning Trust’s Professional Development offer for primary schools. Our vision for all is that participation in continuous professional development activities will be a central and established part of a career pathway in the London Borough of Hackney. Here we nurture a culture of learning in order that individual engagement will contribute to the development of the whole profession; we celebrate learning, relish challenge, and reflect critically on our practice as a profession. Our primary value is that we are children and learner focused. We keep their welfare and achievement at the centre of what we do. We must therefore ensure that our strategy fulfils all of these criteria. We recognise that practitioners and their settings face challenges; we believe that growing our learning culture is not a luxury, but more essential than ever. Professional development that is based on a shared learning culture is the key to better quality and impact for all settings and professionals. Working together with all providers, we can make it happen. We are working with the wide range of Teaching Schools Alliances and others in Hackney to translate this vision into a reality. We want every member of staff to have in place a comprehensive professional development pathway, which school and in borough activities support. To guide future progress in growing this learning culture, we have developed a framework of training available in Hackney. There is also a separate booklet for secondary courses. We have a range of bespoke courses available which can be run in schools: these are listed under our Primary School and SEND offers respectively. I hope you find this booklet invaluable in your professional development planning. I wish you well in your work during the year ahead and during your career in the invaluable field of education. Best wishes Annie Gammon Director of Education.
