If you want to apply to● an Ontario University
• through the Ontario University Application Centre [use OUAC 101 application]
– 3 Universities for $150 & $50 for each after 3
● an Ontario Community College• through the Ontario College
Application Service [OCAS]– $95 processing fee for 5
If you want to apply to● an out of province university or
college • done separately online• application fee for each institution• required to send a transcript
– sometimes OUAC can supply marks● RMC - Royal Military College - has its
own application process see website for details

An American University: ● Most schools use the common
application● Must take SAT test prior to
applying● See your counsellor to help

What are the differences?!?
● Certificate - College only 1 yr - specific area of study
● Diploma - College only 2 or 3 yrs-specific area of study
● Degree - University /College 3/4 yrs - Broad area of study
● Undergrad -apply directly out of highschool
● Postgrad - can apply only after completing diploma or degree

Who does what ?!?● OUAC/OCAS
• OUAC only, assigns PIN numbers• processes applications and
transcripts and forwards them to the Universities/Colleges
• Notifies you and your counsellors if your grades are missing or incomplete
• Lets the University/Collegesknow when you have accepted an offer of admission
Who does what?!?● High Schools
• Distribute your Ontario Education Numbers and PINS
• Provide OUAC/OCAS with your personal and academic information
• Provide OUAC/OCAS with your updated grades information in February, April & July
• Notify OUAC/OCAS if you transfer to another school
Who does what?!?● Students
• OCAS only, set up their own online account and create their personal username and password
– Keep this information in a safe place• Complete their application• Verify their academic information• Makes changes to their application online
– Keep OUAC/OCAS and therefore schools informed of any changes in their personal information
Who does what ?!?● Students (Continued...)
• Pay the application processing fee. Their program choices will not be sent along to the schools until payment is received
• Print a copy of their application summary• Verify online that their payment has been
received• complete additional requirements of
admission, if required
Important OUAC Dates● January 16, 2019: Latest date to submit
completed on-line applications to the OUAC● February 5, 2019: Recommended last day to
make changes to your application.● May 29, 2019: Date by which the universities
must respond to your application for admission
● June 3, 2019: Earliest date by which the university may require a financial commitment from applicants
OUAC PIN Numbers● Arrive the end of November● Students should be listening for
announcements & checking the Counselling Bulletin Board
● You will need to complete your exit survey in MyBlueprint to obtain your PIN #
● Keep your OUAC number in a safe place!
Important OCAS Dates● February 1, 2019: Equal consideration
date (all applications received at OCAS by this date will be considered equally by the colleges)
● May 1, 2019: Deadline to Confirm Offers of Admission
● Mid-June 2019: Earliest date that the colleges can require payment of tuition fees. Each college sets its own tuition deposit amount payment deadline
Transcripts etc. - Transcripts are sent electronically to
OUAC and OCAS at different times of the year
- Full Disclosure - Schools will see all Grade 11 and 12 Marks
- Universities look at Semester 1 final marks and Semester 2 Midterm marks for admission
- Each university/college and program has different course requirements for certain programs and policies on repeating courses etc. - DO YOUR RESEARCH!
