skills offer to support your learning and development. Both our Sports and Skills academy routes contain a variety of course

options to best support the specific needs, academic levels,

age and experience of you as an individual. A member of our Information, Advice and Guidance team will be on hand to

Sports coaching and teaching is immensely rewarding and with an ever-growing jobs market there has never been a better time to get into sport. This is a rewarding career path.

Within the coaching academy you will develop skills, understanding and confidence within all areas of sports and activity coaching including safeguarding children, health & safety, behavior management & positive discipline techniques, sport specific coaching methods, risk assessing activity and much much more.

All courses require students to meet minimum required levels of Maths and English. Where this is not the case – DO NOT WORRY! - Learners are supported to achieve these qualifications alongside their vocational course at SSG Training.

SUBJECTS

At SSG we recognise that core skills and support is vital to support

all learners to achieve their potential. With many employers, further education providers and apprenticeship opportunities requiring

minimum levels to gain access. This is why at SSG all students that have not already achieved a 4 or C in their core subjects will be

supported to continue their study until they achieve a minimum of

Level 2 (common entry level requirement). We utilise one to one and small group environments as well as online learning platforms to

support this to be an achievable and progressive experience.COURSES/PATHWAYS OF LEARNING

WHY CHOOSE CORE?

Often you will not have the choice around core subjects like Maths and English – These subjects are seen as gateways to higher education, jobs or apprenticeships and as such these courses are mandatory for us to support you in gaining a positive progression following your time with us. But don’t worry we will support you and help you to achieve them!

Maths and English functional skills provide real life relevance to Maths and English and is seen as a more useable and relevant style of gaining a Maths and/or English qualification. You will have an online personal account to support you to learn at your own pace with the support of your tutor.

Our unique Skills Academy pathway is designed to support

students to identify career and educational route to best suit

their individual skills sets and career desires whilst also providing

access to qualification levels required to gain access to higher level courses. All courses contain high levels of employer interaction and

opportunities to identify and experience a wide range of industry

areas to help you make informed choices about your next steps.

WHY CHOOSE BUSINESS? MATH’S & ENGLISH SUPPORT

This academy area is perfect for you if you require learning at a lower entry level or if you have not made a final decision about a specific industry area that you wish to study in. Courses allow you to develop real relationships with employers and gain an understanding of areas that you will most likely find success.

You will learn all about yourself in this academy area. By exploring different industry areas you will have the opportunity to not only learn new skills but also to develop and understand better your existing skill set and most importantly how to utilise that skill set going forwards. You will also learn about the possible options that are available to you after your entry course.

You will be supported to achieve both Maths and English qualification levels to access onward learning at higher levels. The Skills Academy specifically supports this to ensure that your Maths and English doesn’t hold you back.
