Be smart with your securityWhat is Information Security and why is it critical at Blue? Information Security (InfoSec) is the practice of protecting both physical and digital information. Since the majority of information at Blue belongs to our members, we consider you and your information as our most valuable asset. Blue’s IT and Risk Management Department work hard to protect all our members’ financial information in both physical and digital forms. We are vigilant in protecting your personal information within our systems, but how are you protected outside of Blue? Cybercriminals want your Personally Identifiable Information (PII) so they can create a duplication of your identity to commit fraud and sell your PII to other cybercriminals on the dark web. The National Credit Union Association's (NCUA), definition of PII is: member information (member’s name, address, or telephone number) in conjunction with any other information that would allow access to the members’ account including your social security number, driver’s license number, account number, credit/debit card number, personal identification number (PIN), or password. We want to leave you with some simple, but effective, online security practices that if performed consistently, may dramatically reduce the chances that the information on your computer will be lost or corrupted:• Only connect to secure networks and don’t use free Wi-Fi

to access your online accounts.• Keep all of your personal electronic device software

current with the manufacturer's issued updates and patches.

• Be suspicious of unexpected emails and attachments, and don’t open them.

• Use strong and unique passwords for each login. Consider using a combination of numbers, key board symbols, and both lower and upper case letters.

• Passphrases are more secure; you can create a passphrase by grouping four or more random words together and use it as your password. The longer the better!

• Do not use passwords based on personal information such as: your birthday, SSN, phone number, or family member names. Do not use simple passwords such as “qwerty”, “123456” or “password”.

Stop paying interest and start living! We all take unique paths that help us get the most out of our money. However, without even blinking an eye, years pass by and we continue to pay a significant amount of interest on our mortgage loans. Owning your home can be the most rewarding experience in your life, but did you know that the interest you’ll pay on a 30-year loan could amount to almost half the amount you'll pay for the life of the loan? That’s why Blue offers a special product called a “Finish Line Mortgage” to help our members reach their goal of becoming debt-free faster.Unlike a standard first mortgage, this special product cannot be found at most banks or credit unions. Blue’s Finish Line Mortgage offers members the ability to pay down their outstanding mortgage balance more aggressively in order to finish paying off their mortgage sooner. So, what’s the benefit of paying more each month? Paying a little more now can save you tens, sometimes hundreds, of thousands of dollars in interest. Check out the example tables below for monthly payment comparison on a Finish Line Mortgage vs. a First Mortgage – the savings on interest is astounding!

With low closing costs and up to a 180 month special term*, you can use the equity you already have in your home and bring over other high interest debt for one monthly payment. If that sounds a little bit like refinancing or taking a home equity loan out on your home, there are actually several key differences that make a Finish Line Mortgage from Blue unique, including:• Choose from 120 to a 180 month term – much shorter

than your standard refinance.• Closing costs are typically far lower than a refinance.• A fixed rate as low as 3.99% APR* means you don’t have

to “lock in” your rate like you would a refinance.• If you feel like you missed the ‘refinance boom’, this

product could earn you a much lower rate than what you’re paying on your mortgage – especially if it’s over 15 years old.

• Blue acquires your current mortgage and becomes the 1st position lienholder, meaning we won’t sell your loan to a larger national lender.

• A Finish Line Mortgage & balance could earn you up to 4 Rewards for Life points!

There are also some important factors to consider when you’re choosing a Finish Line Mortgage:• Your payments will usually be higher, but remember –

you’ll pay much less in interest during the life of your loan. We can show you what the payment difference would be before you make a decision.

• This account does not come with an escrow, so ask us how you can create a savings plan to pay for your annual taxes and home insurance.

Looking at a different mortgage option on your home can be scary, but in many cases, the time and effort could save you more money than you ever thought possible. Stop into any of our branches in Colorado or Wyoming and we’ll help walk you through the process. You can also visit us online at bluefcu.com/finishline to set up an appointment or give us a call at 1-800-368-9328 to get started!

* Rates as low as 3.99% Annual Percentage Rate can be achieved based on credit score and term. Loan amount between $10,000 - $400,000. Closing costs & originations charges based on current pricing plus all other costs (title, flood, filing, appraisal, etc.) No escrow. Promotional loan term between 120 – 180 months is available until December 31, 2018.
