Important Dates

February 19, 2018 (Monday) Registration Deadline

Forms received by this date guarantee a team reservation. We

encourage you to make your reservation as soon as possible as Team

Reservations are limited to 60 teams.

Form a team and send in your entry fee $400.00 ($350 before

January 31) or Youth Teams $200.00 ($150 before January 31)

or;

Become a Sponsor. (Recognition is based on sponsorship

level). For more information, call (231) 672-6976.

February 20, 2018 (Tuesday) – T-shirt order placed. In order to

guarantee a commemorative t-shirt, sizes must be turned in by this

date.

March 9, 2018 (Friday) – Team Fee Paid In Full and All Signed

Release Forms Due – Make checks payable to Mercy Health

March 10, 2018 (Race Day)

Riders must check-in at least 30 minutes prior to their scheduled riding time.

If your team is collecting donations:

Donation/Pledge forms are due by 2:00 PM on the day of The Ride

and are to be turned in at the Registration/Check-In table to

compete for the “Most Money Raised” awards.

*Please note…contributions intended to offset rider registration fees

cannot be considered donations and will not be applied towards

awards.

Key Information

1. BICYCLE CHECK-IN (TEAMS MUST PROVIDE THEIR OWN BIKE…WE

PROVIDE THE TRAINER)

Deliver to Rider Registration at The Lakes Mall between 2:00 PM and 7:00 PM

on Friday, March 9, 2018 (evening before Race Day).

Bike must arrive in good working condition.

Volunteer bike mechanics will mount all bikes on trainers and will attach

odometers to back wheel. Bikes will be mounted on a first come, first

served basis.

Overnight security provided.

Bike Recommendations:

Quick release rear wheels only. No nutted rear wheel.

Rear tire with street type tread (knobby tires are more difficult to

peddle)

2. NOON RIDERS must check-in by 11:30 AM and be at their bikes at 11:50 AM

for the opening ceremony. Check-in will begin at 10:30 AM.

3. ALL OTHER RIDERS must check-in at least 30 minutes prior to their scheduled

riding time.

4. EACH HEAT is 25 minutes and begins on the half-hour (5-minute breaks).

5. ODOMETERS will be stopped manually by the team host when the signal to

end each heat is announced.

6. BIKE MECHANICS will be on-site for minor bicycle repairs and problems

occurring during the race.

7. SCORES will be posted after each heat.

8. REFRESHMENTS and WATER COOLERS will be provided to riders. *Please

bring your own water bottle

9. AWARDS ceremony will be held at approximately 4:20 PM.

10. WARM-UP BIKES: Space for warm-up bikes is limited…first come, first serve.

Warm up bikes are allowed only in the designated, roped off area. You must

provide your own trainer. Bikes must be setup on Friday, March 9, 2018.

Race Rules

** To promote fairness and good sportsmanship

** For the safety of those participating

** To show respect for our host, The Lakes Mall, and the merchants.

1. TRAINERS MAY NOT BE ADJUSTED during the race except by an identified The

Ride Bike Marshal. Tension between the back wheel and trainer will be set

equally for all bicycles prior to the race.

2. RIDERS CANNOT BE REPLACED DURING A HEAT. Riders may switch only during the

5-minute break between heats.

3. TOP GEAR RATIO allowed is 53 /12. Illegal gear ratios WILL be changed by Bike

Marshals.

4. SIGNED RELEASE FORM must be submitted to your Team Captain before

Race Day.

5. STORAGE IN THE BIKE ARENA AREA Each bike station will be issued one storage

container to hold all necessary items needed by all of the bike riders in that

heat. The use of this storage container will be reinforced by all of the team

captains. Our goal is for everyone to have a fun and safe experience during The

Ride.

6. THE ARENA IS A RESTRICTED AREA. Only 2 people are allowed in the arena during

a heat: 1 rider and 1 Team Host. Aisles within the riding arena must remain open.

7. DECORATIONS are limited to one foot beyond the outside edge of each 4 ft. by

6 ft. carpet remnant beneath each bicycle and cannot block the views of other

teams or sponsorship signage. Decorating must take place on Friday, March 9,

between the hours of 3:00 – 8:30 PM. No decorating is allowed on race day.

Due to fire hazard issues and limited access, use of

an electrical outlet is not guaranteed. Please

plan accordingly. If your plug creates a fire and/or

tripping hazard you may be asked to unplug from the

outlet.

8. BICYCLES MAY NOT BE MOVED or the arena layout

altered.

9. RAISING or lowering bike seats between heats is the responsibility of each team.

Teams must bring their own tools.

INFRINGEMENT OF RACE RULES

may result in disqualification or

ejection of teams and/or

individuals. Bike Marshals will

enforce the rules. All decisions

made by a Bike Marshal are

final.

Release Form

Yes, I agree to participate in Mercy Health’s stationary bicycle race on March 10, 2018,

to benefit the Mercy Health Heart and Vascular services in the new medical center.

PARTICIPATION RELEASE: It is expressly understood and agreed that I have entered

The Ride at my own risk and entirely of my own free will. I hereby for myself and on

behalf of my heirs, executors, administrators and assignees waive, release, and

discharge Trinity Health and its related entities including, but not limited to Mercy

Health and The Lakes Mall Management, event volunteers, sponsors and promoters

from any responsibility or liability whatsoever for any losses or injuries sustained by any

person or participant, and/or damage to any equipment or property during the

activities surrounding the event. By making this application, I am representing that I am

fit to undertake the physical stresses and other stresses and risks which can occur

during such an event.

PHOTO RELEASE: I do hereby authorize Mercy Health, Muskegon, Michigan to

photograph me and release said photographs for publication, video programming,

slide presentation, television and/or display purposes. Photographs may be used in

various ways to promote and raise money for Mercy Health (i.e., various presentations

to promote events to sponsors and the public, or for various publications from Mercy

Health).

STORED ITEMS RELEASE: I have placed certain items of personal property in the care of

Mercy Health while I participate in The Ride sponsored by Mercy Health. I understand

that Trinity Health and its related entities including, but not limited to Mercy Health, and

The Lakes Mall Management, event volunteers, sponsors and promoters, are not liable

for any loss of or damage to my personal property of whatsoever kind or nature.

Through the signing of this waiver, I fully understand and accept this agreement.
