ABOUT THE SPEAKER

The Southeastern Chapter - National Safety Council (SCNSC) was organized in 1961 and began as a response to the growing concern to the number of people being killed and injured in collisions in the Charleston area. From the beginning, the Council has been a chartered Chapter of the National Safety Council. SCNSC has consistently worked on promoting safety education and public awareness and is dedicated to reducing injuries, deaths, human suffering and economic loss caused by accidents. The Council, a volunteer, non-profi t organization, seeks participation of citizens in community, industry and government in the accomplishment of our shared goal… a SAFER South Carolina.

Job Safety Analysis Training | November 13, 2018ABOUT THIS COURSE

The SCNSC Job Safety Analysis (JSA) course offers a proven process for controlling operating hazards and costs. You’ll learn how to develop and manage a JSA program and gain a better understanding of your role in making it effective.Through discussions, demonstrations and exercises, you’ll learn how to dissect processes in your operation and eliminate or reduce hazards inherent with these processes. You’ll also learn how to enlist participation from frontline employees, supervisors and upper management. The result: effi cient procedures that help reduce personal injuries and operating costs.

WHAT YOU WILL LEARN

• How to recognize and use important safety and health terminology• JSA’s relation to continuous improvement in your organization• How to identify and communicate the safety and fi nancial benefi ts of using JSA• The key requirements for a successful JSA• How to recognize hazards inherent in task performance and develop solutions and hazard controls• How to complete a JSA form

Incident Investigation Training | November 14, 2018ABOUT THIS COURSE

The SCNSC Incident Investigation course focuses on techniques for gathering complete, accurate and objective incident data, establishing root causes, reporting fi ndings and determining corrective action.Discussion, demonstrations and exercises cover investigation and interview techniques. Participants learn how to uncover the who, what, why, when and how of each incident, and how to analyze data to prevent injuries, property damage and fi nancial losses.

WHAT YOU WILL LEARN

• How to determine which incidents warrant investigation• How to use effective investigation and interviewing techniques to gather complete, objective and accurate data• How to analyze incidents to identify root causes• The human relations aspects of incident reporting• What data to include in investigation reports• Hazard control measures and follow-up
