The Golf Academy offers lessons, leagues and camps for children of all ages and abilities. Take advantage of the numerous opportunities to have fun and learn the game of golf.
The First Tee of Three Rivers Park District
is the umbrella under which many different
programs are supported, including lesson
leagues, Hooked on Golf, LPGA-USGA Girls Golf,
Baker Golf and Sports Camp, and numerous
junior leagues and lesson programs. All four
golf facilities host a program of The First Tee
of Three Rivers Park District. The overall goal
of these programs is to grow the game of
golf by providing affordable and accessible
opportunities for youth.

These mini-lessons are designed as an introduction for very young golfers.
Points of emphasis: Fun and games that introduce putting, chipping and the full swing. A putter, 7 iron and 9 iron are needed; limited clubs available for use.

HOOKED ON GOLF – PAR LEVEL LESSONSAges 8-12Four 3-hour lessons – $179
A comprehensive program of The First Tee of Three Rivers Park District, the goal is to encourage kids to have fun playing golf. Each participant receives a new starter set of golf clubs and a hat. Know your child’s height and whether right- or left-handed before registration.
Points of emphasis: Basic fundamentals of golf and an introduction to Par Level life skills and certification. Each day also includes a special 30-minute presentation covering golf etiquette, golf course maintenance, and the environment.

The second part of the Hooked on Golf series, the goal is to encourage kids to have fun playing golf. In addition to golf fundamentals, the program consists of games to reinforce golf skills learned. Participants play a few holes on the course one day.
Points of emphasis: Basic fundamentals of golf and an introduction to Par Level life skills and certification. Each day also includes a special presentation covering golf etiquette, golf course maintenance, and the environment. Participants can use their clubs from Hooked on Golf I, as no clubs are given for Hooked on Golf II.

GET GOLF READY - TEENAges 13-17Five 1-hour lessons – $99
Combine fun, friends and fitness while learning everything needed to play golf. Test your new skills on the course in a casual, friendly setting. Designed for teenagers entering the game of golf with little or no experience.
What to bring: Yourself and a desire to have fun. Bring clubs if you have them, otherwise golf clubs, balls and other equipment are provided for use during class.

All girls ages 7-17 in leagues or lessons can sign
up for the LPGA-USGA Girls Golf Program for free.
Participants receive a membership kit that includes
a Girls Golf hat, magnetic ball marker and other
items. Program sites are Eagle Lake Youth Golf
Center, Glen Lake Golf & Practice Center, and Cleary Lake Golf Course. Girls
must fill out the LPGA Girls Golf application. Once the application has been
received, participants can sign up for special events held throughout the
summer, including Parent/Daughter tournaments, Girls Scramble, Putting
Course/Pizza Party at Eagle Lake and other special events. Application links

Break 100 includes bunker in shots, reading greens and speed control, keeping the ball in play, chipping/pitching, solid contact and why/when double bogey is a good score. For golfers who play 18 holes regularly looking to shoot in the 90s.
Break 90 includes bad lies, drivers vs. 3 woods from the tee, get it up and down more often, and when/why bogey is a good score.
Break 80 includes which ball flight to play, advanced short game (flop shot, bump and run), and why/when bogey is a good score.

SKILLS AND DRILLS COACHING PROGRAM Six 1.5-hour lessons – $199
Break through your personal scoring barrier. Learn the short game and full swing fundamentals while exploring methods and practicing techniques. This program mirrors the six instruction classes of the Breaking Barriers Coaching Program but does not include an on-course portion. Intermediate is for players looking to break 100, advanced is for players who have already broken 100. No class July 3 or 5.

SHORT GAME SCHOOLOne 4-hour lesson – $149Focus on: putting, chipping, pitching, and bunker play. Learn techniques and strategies for scoring from different positions around the green – including hitting from various lengths of grass and adjusting for uneven lies. This is a must for those looking to lower their score!

ADULT LESSON LEAGUES8 sessions – $129
Transition new skills to the golf course in a friendly and fun environment. Get an introduction to the league, basic rules, etiquette, and golf skills during the first two sessions. Instructors are on the course offering playing tips for the third session, then play the Evergreen course on your own the remaining sessions. Tee times are the same each week, although you can switch with other players in advance.

SUPERVISED PRACTICE SESSION$20/day
Receive unlimited range balls and golf tips from an instructor. The tips are designed to jumpstart improvement for new attendees and complement private lessons for current students. Check in at the golf shop any time between 5-6:30 PM and stay as long as you’d like; instruction continues until 7 PM. Open to the public. No advanced registration required. Space may be limited due to high demand.

Refunds/CancellationsThree Rivers reserves the right to cancel a class or reduce the number of sessions if a minimum of four students is not met. A full refund is given if student cancels seven days prior to the start of the first class. A 50 percent refund is given if student cancels less than seven days prior to the start of the first class. A 24-hour call-ahead is required to cancel or reschedule a private lesson. Call the clubhouse to reschedule a private lesson impacted by poor weather.
