MPCI Underwriting2018 MPCI POLICIES/PROCEDURESRMA issued Informational Memorandum PM-17-044.1 July 27, 2017, announcing that the Rainfall Index Apiculture pilot program (RI-API) will replace the Vegetation Index (VI) Apiculture program in Arizona, Colorado, Idaho, Nevada, New Mexico, Oregon, Utah and Wyoming beginning with the 2018 crop year. Therefore, any existing VI-API policies must be cancelled for the 2018 crop year. Producers can consider the RI-API plan if they are eligible. (Additional
details are in PM-17-044.1; RMA also released a news release and an Apiculture Pilot Insurance Program Fact Sheet.)
PM-17-044.1 also announced the RI-API program will expand to an additional 19 states (so it will be available in the 48 contiguous states), and the RI capping process will be removed for API.
