SUSTAINABILITYSUSTAINABILITY

Husky Stadium is the most beautiful setting in the country to watch a football game, and the University of washington Department of Athletics is committed to preserving the natural beauty of this environment.

Throughout the renovation of Husky Stadium, the sustainability of the project was thoughtfully considered. The project received LEED certification for design, construction and sustainable operating practices. During construction, over 95% of construction waste was reused or recycled. Salmon-Safe best management practices were employed, locally sourced natural materials were used, and water and energy-efficient fixtures were installed.

Additionally, concession food containers are either compostable or recyclable; as a result, fans will find compost and recycle stations throughout the stadium and are asked to take out any garbage they bring in or leave it under their seats for stadium staff to handle after the game.

With a waste diversion rate of 75%, the University of Washington is the winner of the inaugural USG NACDA Sustainability Award. The award recognizes top environmentally conscious facilities in college athletics.

Help us continue our commitment to the most beautiful football setting in the nation.
