2018 Community Volleyball League Rules (As of the 2018 League)
The league will be using FIBV rules – subject to the interpretation of the COMMITTEE and GAME
OFFICIALS with the following modifications:
Fees and Registration
Registration fee is $250/per teams. Team’s who do not submit payment before April 30, 2018 will not
be allowed to participate in the tournament.
Team Qualifications
•The team roster may consist of a minimum of 6 players and a maximum of 10 players. The team must
have a coach and team representative.
•Players must play a minimum of 5 points per game, which ever team it is. (no bench player). •All teams should have an official uniform with names and numbers to be worn in ALL games and
cannot be substituted between players or teams.
*Changes to the team will not be accepted after the roster has been submitted to the screening
committee. At this time, the team roster shall become final, permanent and official.

Player Qualifications(Volleyball) Players must have been registered in the team roster by March 31, 2018.
Filipino Players:
Must be a former/current resident of eligible cities/towns (Ponoka, Lacombe, Wetaskiwin, Red Deer).
If criteria 1 is not met, player may be eligible if he has participated in the 2017 Basketball Season.
Canadian Players:
Must be current/former student of Ponoka’s St. Augustine School.
In case of player eligibility protest:
Player eligibility protest must be taken to the committee table BEFORE the start of the game. Only the
coach of the opposing team playing the scheduled game can protest a player’s eligibility.
Documentation must be presented upon request. If the coach cannot provide the proper proof of
ineligibility of the player(s) being protested, then the player(s) will be allowed to play until proof is
provided.
The game will not be stopped to handle the protest. If the player(s) show up late to a game, player
eligibility protest will only be considered during HALF TIME. Players that cannot provide proper proof
of eligibility will not be allowed to play until proof is presented to the committee.

League Format (Volleyball) The games will be rally points games to 25. A team must hold 2 points advantage to win, NO CAP.
Elimination, knock-out and Battle for 3rd place games 3 sets only (in case of tie ,rally points to 15. A
team must hold 2 points advantage to win, NO CAP
Semifinal and Championship games 5 sets (in case of tie, rally points to 15, A team must hold 2 points
advantage to win ,NO CAP.
5 Teams, Single round elimination.
Top 4 teams will advance to the semifinals.
An undefeated team will have a twice-to-beat advantage.
In case of a tie between Rank 4 & 5, a knock-out game will determine the team advancing to the
semifinals.
Winning over other teams apply to ranking only.
Semifinals match-ups will be RANK 1 vs. RANK 4, and RANK 2 vs RANK 3 .
Third place will be determined by a single game.
Championship games are BEST OF THREE

1.All uniforms are provided by the organizer with the same design but different team colors, with personal names and numbers on the jersey.

Protest Procedure The game will not be stopped to handle the protest .If the player(s) show up late and the opposing teams coach wants to protest the players(s).That protest will take place at half time only. If the players being protested at half time cannot provide proper proof of eligibility then the players must sit until proof can be provided and the team will charged with a technical foul ,as a result, the opposing team will get two free throws and ball possession. Any Government issues ID, Billing , or any documentation that prove your residency (this will be provided if you are being protested).
PROTEST DEADLINE will apply after all teams played their 2 games. Any protest will not be accepted by the committee after all teams played their 2nd Games.

Games Schedules for Opening Day Opening first games schedule will not be based on a draw like the previous year; opening match-ups will be decided by the committee based on TEAM RANKS from the 2017 League and the number of players present on each teams. All teams and players (Basketball and Volleyball) are expected to be present during the opening day (May 5). *Basketball and Volleyball Game matchups TBA 12:00-1:00Team Presentation/Parade 1:00-2:15 Game 1 2:15-3:30 Game 2 2:15-3:30 Game 3 3:30-4:45 Game 4 6:00-7:15 Game 5 7:15-8:30 Game 6 *Any team that failing to appear within a certain period of time after the game starts will forfeit the game, and the opposing team will be given the win. Games will take place every Saturday (except for May 26 due to gym unavailability) from May 5 to June 30 at Ponoka St. Augustine School’s Main Gym. Game Schedule for the rest of the League will be posted and to be announced. CCBVL 2018

House Rules A. Every member of the tournament must maintain a conduct of good behavior
and sportsmanship. B. The referee’s decision is final and irrevocable. C. Any player, coach, or team representative presenting unsportsmanlike conduct
or is unruly may be ejected from the game, with the committee’s discretion. The person(s) may not be permitted to play, coach, or be with the team during the game for the duration of the tournament.
D. Any team player, coach, or team representative found responsible for violating player eligibility rules or other rules will be disqualified from current and subsequent games for the duration of the tournament.
