Prof (Ms) Araddhana A Deshmukh , AMIE has taken over as Hon. Secretary of The Institution of Engineers(India), Pune local Centre on 2nd Feb 2018 for the remaining session as Er Avinash K Nighojkar resigned from the post of Hon. Secretary due to personal reason. Prof Deshmukh is a member of Computer Engg Division.

Prof K K, Ghosh, has been co-opted as

Council Member in Aerospace Engg Division

at IEI HQ Kolkata for the session 2017-2018.

He is at present Committee Member of IEI,

Pune Local Centre in Aerospace Engg

Division for session 2016-2018.

Curtain Raiser Ceremony of Diamond Jubilee Year of Pune Local Centre

The Pune Local Centre of IE (I) has stepped in its

Diamond Jubilee year on 29th November 2017. To mark

this achievement a special “Curtain Raiser Ceremony”

was organized on 24th January 2018. Padmashree Arun

Firodia, FIE graced the function as Chief Guest and Dr.

Rajendra Jagtap, IDES, CEO- Pune Smart City

Development Corporation Ltd as Key note Speaker. At the outset, Dr. G S Mundada, Chairman, PLC,

welcomed the dignitaries, invitees & the audience and

briefed about the activities of IE (I) and elaborated the

functioning of Pune Local centre. Er. V N Shinde introduced Shri Firodiya and Er D B

Dhone gave the introduction of Dr Jagtap. Dr. Mundada

felicitated both the guests. The Theme for the event was 'Smart City Pune

Projects-Status & Challenges' on which Dr. Rajendra

Jagtap delivered an excellent presentation .Various

aspects of the Smart City Projects were vividly shown &

explained by the Speaker. In conjunction with theme, Dr Surekha Deshmukh,

Member of IEI &IEEE and Dean, Industry Institute

Interaction, PVGCOET, Pune gave a presentation to

explain the role of IEEE in framing the 'standards for

the Smart City Projects'. Dr. Deshmukh said that for

achieving excellence and global acceptance, Standards

must be strictly followed. Dr. Deshmukh further

claimed that IEEE standards are useful for all projects

wherein scientific and engineering tools are used such as

in the field of health, surveillance, transportation,

mobility, e-governance, safety and security, automation,

smart metering, SCADA, smart grid etc. Padmashree Arun Firodia in his address emphasized the

need of decongestion of Pune in view of increase in

population .The Ring road project along with the metro

connectivity can be instrumental in decongesting the

city. Shri Firodia further stressed the need to make the

Pune city clean by implementation of solid waste

management as successfully done by the Indore and

Surat Municipal Corporations.. The programme was compeered by Er. Shubhangi

Chiplonkar. Er. A K Nighojkar proposed the vote of

thanks.

Workshop on Employability Skills

A workshop on “Employability Skills” was

organized by IEI Student Chapter of Deptt of Mechanical Engg, D Y Patil College of Engineering, Akurdi on 16

D Khare Committee Member of Pune local Centre was Guest of Honour. This Workshop was organized to give an idea about the employability skills required for Mechanical Engineers. Shri Naik discussed about

goals.About 200 students of Second yr, Third yr

and Final yr alongwith Faculty members of the

deptt attended the workshop.

Opening of IEI Student Chapters

Student Chapter of The Institution of Engineers (India) was inaugurated at Deptt of Civil Engineering, Bhivarabai Sawant College of Engineering and Research , Narhe, Pune on 25th January 2018. Er V N Shinde, Imm Past Hon Secretary and Committee member of IEI, Pune Local Centre was present as Chief Guest for the inaugural function. The function started with

In his address, Dr Hinge highlighted the importance of Student chapter for the students. Dr D S Bilgi elaborated the need of student chapter in all round development of students in the present scenario of competitive world. Er V N Shinde gave away the membership cards to student members. Prof Pallavi S Parade proposed the Vote of thanks.

Prof Deshmukh briefed about the technical activities of IEI Pune Local Centre and benefits available to students through student chapter. Prof S B Chougule proposed the Vote of thanks.
