The following are anniversaries of note for 2017:

  • The year of Matthew, year A in the three-year lectionary, is an opportunity for fresh reflection on the Gospel of Matthew, the first of the New Testament gospel books. In the year 2017, marking the 500th anniversary of the dawn of a major reforming movement in the church, its message is particularly relevant. Invite your congregation into a small or large group study, using a learner resource that features compelling writing by Troy M. Troftgruben and evocative, full-color art. A separate leader resource guides the course facilitator through eight easy sessions.

“We had a ball last week with the first session! We are growing in our faith because of the incredible combination of scholarship, Lutheran perspective, and devotional content. . . . A thousand thanks—your work makes me a better leader, a more faithful pastor, and a more relaxed person. I remain grateful for our partnership in the gospel, which shines so brightly through this super resource you have shared.”

–Pastor Katie Baardseth, Midvale Community Lutheran Church, Madison, WI

The year of Matthew, year A in the three-year lectionary, is an opportunity for fresh reflection on the Gospel of Matthew, the first of the New Testament gospel books.

The Domestic Mission (DM) unit will provide support and build capacity for the development and growth of vital congregations. The flow of our mission and ministry is toward the grassroots—investing in and accompanying synod systems and relationships to support Word and Sacrament communities as centers for evangelical mission. Critical to this work is building up the faith and discipleships of leaders and planting and renewing ministries that reroot and orient their mission in their communities and the wider world. Supporting this partnership with the grassroots, DM is organized through the following ministry teams:
