Proper Pruning Practice (Contact USU Extension office for locations) Pruning is probably one of the most daunting tasks to a homeowner. This hands-on workshop will help remove the fear by simplifying the pruning process. March 8 – Pruning Fruit Trees, Grapes and Berries (Free) March 22 – Pruning Trees, Shrubs and Roses (Free) Native Plant Propagation (USU Teaching Greenhouse – 1380 North 800 East Logan) Sponsored by the Utah Native Plant Society and USU Extension Master Gardeners of Cache County. This hands-on workshop will focus on propagation tips and techniques associated with growing native plants. Participants will receive 12 varieties of seed, soil and rooting containers with 50-60 native plantlets. Thursday, March 16, 6-9 p.m. or Saturday, March 18, 9 a.m - noon ($30) $5 discount for Master Gardeners and Native Plant Society members Backyard Beekeeping 101 There is nothing sweeter than honey harvested from the backyard. This workshop is focused on the beginning beekeeper. We will focus on how to successfully set up a backyard hive and give tips on how to keep a thriving hive. April 5 – Backyard Beekeeping (Free) Fruit Tree Grafting This hands-on workshop will teach the science and art behind grafting fruit trees. Participants will be able to take home two of their own grafted apple trees. Participants will be given vegetable seeds and starts to help kick start the growing season.May 3 – Raised Bed Gardening ($10)

Flowers for All Seasons From spring to fall, color in a landscape should be fluid and ever changing. Learn how to select plants that will give season-long colors and texture to your landscape.May 17 – Flowers for All Seasons (Free)

Tree and Shrub Selection(Contact USU Extension office for meeting location)This walking tour of the USU main campus will highlight some of the “tried and true” tree and shrub species that grow well in Cache Valley’s climate. June 7 – Tree Identification and Selection (Free)

Alterniscapes Landscape Tour(Contact USU Extension office for a map and location)The 2017 Alterniscapes Garden Tours will be a walking tour of six private gardens in the Logan area. Get ideas for your own yard by strolling through butterfly, bird and bee-friendly gardens. Experience water-wise and native plantings, backyard chicken coop ideas, constructed compost bin, backyard bee hives, raised vegetable and flower beds made from recycled materials, colonnade fruit trees and even blueberries growing successfully in a peat moss bale!Saturday, June 24 – Alterniscapes Landscape Tour ($5 per map)
