TOURISM & HOSPITALITY CAREER GUIDE
The Queensland Tourism Awards are hosted and presented by the Queensland Tourism Industry Council (QTIC), the state’s peak industry body for tourism.
For 32 years, the Queensland Tourism Awards have recognised the outstanding achievements of the state’s tourism industry, including individuals, businesses (industry operators) and events.
The Awards are a submission and inspection based program and provide the opportunity to publicly acknowledge and showcase Queensland’s finest tourism operators.
The Awards cover 30 categories ranging from attractions, events, tour and transport, accommodation, restaurants, culture, ecotourism, marketing, recognition of individuals plus the inaugural RACQ People’s Choice Awards in 2017.
“Queensland Airports Limited has enjoyed a decade-long association with the
Queensland Tourism Awards as its presenting partner. We see the awards as the premier annual forum for showcasing and celebrating an industry which makes such an important
contribution to our state’s economy and identity. With four airports covering the
coastal cities of Gold Coast and Townsville, and Longreach and Mt Isa in outback
Queensland, QAL appreciates that the awards provide exposure to a broad range
of tourism operators across the state.”
~ Chris Mills, CEO
Queensland Airports Limited

the Queensland tourism industry

analysis for tourism businesses
• Promote a benchmark for industry best practice
• Reinforce the value and contribution of Queensland’s
$23 billion tourism industry
• Emphasise consumer confidence and industry pride
for Queensland’s tourism products and regions
• Encourage the continual raising of standards among
Queensland tourism operators through accreditation
and certification
• Provide an annual platform of celebration for the
industry through networking opportunities for industry,
supporters and sponsors
• Offer an opportunity for successful entrants to
progress to the Australian Tourism Awards and
compete against other states at a national level.
“Completing the submission process for the Queensland Tourism Awards is an important annual key
business activity for BIG4 Adventure Whitsunday Resort. We won our first Queensland Tourism Award in 2006 and have won gold another
five times since then, most recently in 2016. Collating information for the
awards ties in with our annual business planning, covering all aspects of sales and marketing, operations, customer
service, responsible tourism, innovation and much more. We share the process with our team which makes our staff incredibly proud when we win on a Queensland level. To us, as much as we enjoy winning and the amazing
sense of achievement we feel, it is an important overview of our business and a thorough analysis of the past
year, which we are able to share with our team, while learning about our
business operations, developing each area as identified and implementing
future business planning. We proudly promote our award wins and will continue to enter the Queensland
Tourism Awards for years to come!”~ Greg and Naomi McKinnon, Owners,
BIG4 Adventure Whitsunday Resort
