Formation:

Ourbaseformationforallthreeteamswillbea4-2-3-1(fourdefenders,twoholdingmidfielders,threeattackingmidfieldersandalonestriker).Weusethe4-2-3-1asabaseformationbecauseitisveryflexibletactically.Ingivengamecircumstances,oragainstcertainopponents,wemightshiftintoashapethatlooksmorelikeatraditional4-3-3orevena4-4-2.Butourplayersneedtounderstandeachroleinourbaseformationinorderforourteamstobesuccessful.4---2---3---1(4---3---3)

Positionalresponsibilities:Thenumberscorrespondtobasepositionsinourformation,anddon’thaveanythingtodowiththeactualnumberonthebackofaplayer’sjersey.Forinstance,aplayermighthave#17onherjersey,butbeaskedtoplayinthe#7role.Thedefensetooffensepercentagesareguidelinestohelpplayersunderstandtheirprimaryresponsibilityforeachrole,butweexpecttodefendwithall11players,andattackwithall11players.It’simportanttomethattheplayerskeeptheirteamshape,andespeciallycomingoutofanyrestartbyouropponent(goalkicks,throw-ins,kick-offs,etc.).Knowyourroleandresponsibilities.#1.Goalkeeper(95%defense/5%offense)–Preventgoalswithshotstoppingandgoodanticipation.Organizeourdefensewithcommandingcommunication.Alwaysbeavailableforabackpass.Beginouroffensewiththoughtfulandprecisedistribution.#4&#5.CenterBacks.(80%defense/20%offense).Preventopponentgoalswiththoughtfulpositionalplay,goodmarking,strongtackling,aerialdominanceandcoverdefending.Mustbestrongcommunicatorsandorganizethedefenseinfrontofyou.Providepossessionsupportbyalwayscreatinggoodpassinganglesbehindtheball.Manageriskeffectively.Keeppossessionbyswitchingplay,butalwaysreadyforaprecisionlongballtoourstrikersorwingersrunningintospace.#2&#3.LeftandRightFullbacks.(65%defense/35%offense).Providecoverdefensetothecentraldefenders,andwidthoncewegainpossession,especiallywhenGKhastheball.Tuckinsideandcentralwhentheballisontheoppositesidelinetoprovidecover.Fillthewidespacescreatedby#7&#11wingerswhentheycomeinsideinattack.Bepreparedtorun,andrunoften.Theentirewidechannelisthedomainofour#3&#2.Mustbeproficientinoverlappinginattackandprovidingintelligentcrossesintotheopponentsbox.#6&#8.HoldingMidfielders.(55%defense/45%offense).Patrolthespacesjustinfrontofour#4&#5centraldefenders.Toughtacklingandgoodsenseofproperbalanceandspacedefensively(mustcoverforalmosteveryoneifthingsgowrong).Whenonejoinstheattack,theothermustholdanddominatethecentralspace.Mostofourattackwillbeginwithour#6&#8sotheymustbeverygoodatkeepingpossessionanddistributingtheballthroughoutthefieldbothlaterallyinaswitch,andalwayslookingforthemostadvantageousforwardpass.Ourpaceofplayisheavilyinfluencedbythetonesetbyour#6&#8:soplayquicklyandconfidently.

• Passing&trapping.Comfortablypassandreceivetheballincontrolunderpressure.
