innovative, cancer survivorship and rehabilitative healthcare delivery models.

• Gain and apply an understanding of the most recent evidence-based, interprofessional cancer rehabilitation interventions and treatment techniques for symptom management of:° cancer-related fatigue;° pelvic floor and abdominal wall dysfunction;° spinal cord tumors;° cancer survivors’ sexuality concerns;° psychosocial distress, including financial concerns;° nutritional considerations to promote well-being;° cancer and/or cancer treatment-related pain vs. non-cancer pain

issues• Identify and discuss clinically significant cancer survivorship and

rehabilitative care outcomes measures (i.e., patient-reported, clinician-rated, and systems’ outcomes)

Overview Cancer survivors are likely to experience a variety side effects and symptoms related to their cancer and/or specific cancer-related treatments. This year’s symposium will bring together nationally-renowned, expert interprofessional faculty presenting important, evidence-based information about the state of cancer survivorship care; cancer survivorship health care delivery models; cancer rehabilitation outcomes measures; and innovative, cancer rehabilitative care for symptom management of cancer treatment-related side effects.

2017 Cancer Speaker BiosAmy Bragagnini, MS, RD, CSO, CDN graduated from Tri-State University in Angola, IN in 1998 with a Bachelor of Science in Biology. She then attended Western Michigan University and earned enough credits to apply and obtain a dietetic internship through Central Michigan University. Amy went on to complete a Master’s Degree of Science in Nutrition and Dietetics in 2005. She is also a Certified Specialist in Oncology.

Michele Fife is the WOTV4 wellness expert focusing on natural health and yoga. She has been teaching Yoga for over 20 years. Her primary focus is Therapeutic and Ayurveda Yoga. She has teaching certifications from Karma Yoga Bloomfield, Dharma Mittra, Purna College of Yoga and Kripalu.

Shannon Sadoski, BS earned her degree in Health Fitness in Preventative & Rehabilitative Programs from CMU in 2007. She attended Bauman College in Boulder, Colorado to certify as a Natural Food Chef in 2012. She is also a fitness and yoga instructor, as well as the founder of Live Unprocessed, LLC.

Patricia A. Ganz, M.D. is a medical oncologist and has been a member of the faculty of the UCLA School of Medicine since 1978 and the UCLA School of Public Health since 1992. Since 1993 she has been the Director of Cancer Prevention and Control Research at the Jonsson Comprehensive Cancer Center. In 1999 she was awarded an American Cancer Society Clinical Research Professorship for “Enhancing Patient Outcomes across the Cancer Control Continuum.” At the Jonsson Comprehensive Cancer Center, she leads the scientific program focused on Patients and Survivors.

Karen Hanson, PhD is a graduate of Wayne State University. She has STAR certification in oncology rehabilitation and has specialized training in Graded Motor Imagery (GMI). She serves as an adjunct faculty at Grand Rapids Community College. Karen has over 19 years of experience in rehabilitation psychology and has been on staff at the Mary Free Bed Pain Center since 2010.

Charles L. Loprinzi, MD is a medical oncologist whose primary research interest for more than 25 years has related to symptom control clinical trials — trials devoted to the treatment, prevention or better understanding of untoward symptoms that are related to cancer, cancer treatment or both. Dr. Loprinzi has led a group that has conducted well over 100 symptom control trials, most of them placebo-controlled trials.

Dan Sherman, MA, LPC has been in the field of financial navigation services for oncology patients since 2008. Since this time, he has provided navigation services to over 1300 oncology patients. In the past 3 years, his financial navigation program has increased the financial reimbursement by over $10,000,000. He has a degree in accounting, a bachelor’s degree in Psychology and a master’s degree in Counseling. Dan is founder and president of “The NaVectis group”, a consulting company that assists oncology providers in implementation of financial navigation programs.

Sean Smith, MD currently serves as the Director of Cancer Rehabilitation in the UM Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. He completed his medical degree at the Wayne State University School of Medicine in 2009 and his medical residency with the UM Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation in 2013. He also does work in the area of rehabilitation outcomes and methods for patients with chronic graft versus host disease, sarcoma, breast cancer, and other primary and metastatic malignancies.

Keri Spangenberg, PT received her Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy from Grand Valley State University. She has been working for Mary Free Bed in various outpatient settings for 27 years and has over 18 years of experience treating the women’s health population. Her clinical interests include incontinence, cancer rehabilitation, pelvic floor dysfunction, pelvic pain, pregnancy and postpartum-related pain, and osteoporosis. She is a STAR Certified Oncology Rehabilitation Clinician.

Colleen Sullivan, MD works with Mary Free Bed’s Spine and Pelvic and Abdominal Rehabilitation programs and in the outpatient clinic. She specializes in women’s health, musculoskeletal conditions, sports-related injuries and chronic pain. She is a graduate of Wayne State University School of Medicine and completed her residency in PM&R at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago, where she served as Chief Resident. Dr. Sullivan is a registered yoga teacher.

Christian VandenBerg, MD is medical director of the Betty Bloomer Ford Cancer Rehabilitation Program at Mary Free Bed. He has been a staff member since 1989. Dr. VandenBerg is a graduate of Michigan State College of Human Medicine and completed his physical medicine and rehabilitation residency through Northwestern University at the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago.

Daniela Wittmann, PhD, LMSW is a Clinical Assistant Professor in the University of Michigan, Department of Urology and the Research Lead in the Department of Social Work in the University of Michigan Health System. She received her BA Hons. in Russian Studies and Psychology at the University of Keele, Staffs., UK, her MSW at Simmons College School of Social Work and her PhD in Social Work at Michigan State University. She has been a certified sex therapist since 2008.

Michael Wheaton, MD works in both inpatient programs and the outpatient clinic with medically complex and spinal cord injury patients. He is a graduate of Northeast Ohio Medical University and completed his residency in PM&R at the University of Michigan Health System, where he served as Chief Resident. Dr. Wheaton also completed a Spinal Cord Injury Fellowship in 2014 from the University of Michigan Health System.

Tod Wyn, MD graduated from the MSU Medical School in 1992. He completed his residency in Emergency Medicine at Butterworth in 1995 and practiced emergency medicine for 17 years in Muskegon. Dr. Wyn completed a Fellowship in Hospice and Palliative Medicine in 2012 and has been working as medical director of Hospice of Holland since then. He provides services in multiple inpatient environments as well as providing outpatient visits in homes and facilities.
