1. All bids must be PER PIECE as listed in the catalogue, unless otherwise

designated. Highest bidder to be buyer. Decision of Auctioneer is

final.

2. Buyers must identify themselves if not known to the cataloguers. Mail

bidders not having an established credit should send a deposit equal to

25% of their bids.

3. No Commissions will be charged for purchases made for you at these

sales.

4. Lots will be on exhibition at the Numismatic Gallery, 42 East 50th

Street, N. Y. C., from September 6 to 9th from 10 A. M. to 5 P. M. andon the days of the sale until noon.

5. Terms are cash. Remittances should be made when bills are rendered.

The silver plate of Martha Washington was supposedly used forthis coinage. There is evidence to support the contention that thehalf disme was an actual coin, not a pattern,

THE EXCESSIVELY RARE 1802 HALF DIME167 1802. Draped bust of liberty to right, LIBERTY above, date below.

Six stars to right and seven to left. Reverse; heraldic eagle, clouds

extending from wing to wing. Thirteen stars. UNITED STATESOF AMERICA. Some of Reverse stars and clouds not struck up as

bold as the others. This seems to be characteristic of the coin. The1 in date does not touch the curl; the 2 touches the bust; the 8 is

larger than that of the 1800 or 1801. Excessively Rare; always

regarded as one of the rarest of all United States Silver coins. In

the sale of the Wilson Collection it was stated that there were but

sixteen specimens known and that one sold for $715.00. In our

sale of the Rabenort Collection at the 1942 A. N. A. Convention sale,

an 1802 sold for ,$307.50 but the reverse of that coin was well worn.

This specimen equal to the Dunham specimen which sold in 1941

for $472.50; should bring well over $500.00 today for one of the

rarest of American coins. So rare, no price quoted; plate.
