a 69-58 win for Valpo. This is Valpo’s first trip to Bowling Green since falling 81-56 in the 2007-08 season opener. The two teams also faced off in 1990 and 1992, with Bowling Green winning both including a 127-99 game in 1992.

Valpo in The Valley: Valparaiso University is competing in its first season as a member institution in the Missouri Valley Conference after a 10-year run in the Horizon League. The Valley is celebrating 25 years of women’s athletics in the conference over the course of the 2017-18 academic and athletic year. Valpo head coach Tracey Dorow played at Illinois State during the first season of women’s athletics in The Valley and is back for Year 25 and her first season as a head coach in the conference. Worth Noting- Valpo has shot above 40 percent as a team in three straight games to start a season for the first time since 2007-08. It’s the first time Valpo has shot above 43 percent in three straight to start a year since 2005-06. If the Crusaders can shoot above 40 percent on Tuesday night, it will be the first time in over 20 years Valpo has started the season with four straight games shooting 40 percent or better.- Valpo made only 10 turnovers against Grand Canyon on Saturday – the team’s lowest turnover total against a Division I opponent since Dec. 2, 2015 against Miami (Ohio), when the Crusaders turned it over just six times. - Valpo made 26 free throws against Grand Canyon, the team’s highest single-game total since Dec. 1, 2013, a 96-85 overtime loss to Montana State (28 made FTs). The 26 successful attempts at the charity stripe on Saturday marked Valpo’s most in a regulation game since Dec. 10, 2008, a 71-60 win over No. 23/21 Purdue. Valpo made 30 free throws in that game. - Dani Franklin’s game-high 23 points boosted her career total to 1,294 and lifted her past Amber Schober (1998-2002) and Betsy Rietema (2003-2007) and into fourth-place on Valpo’s all-time scoring list. Franklin became the first player to crack the program’s Top 5 in the last decade. - The Crusaders did something else they haven’t done in a decade’s time on Saturday – notched their fourth straight home win. After closing the home slate with back-to-back ARC victories a year ago, they’ve opened 2-0 at home for the second straight year. - A win over Bowling Green would put Valpo at 3-1 through four games for the second time in the last eight years – joining the 2014-15 season when the Crusaders captured three of four with wins over Butler, Northern Illinois and Tennessee Tech. - Grace Hales has scored double figures in three straight games to start the season – the first time in the sophomore’s collegiate career that she’s strung together three straight double-figure scoring outputs. It’s four in a row if you count the exhibition game, when Hales posted a double-double against St. Francis (Ill.).

- Caitlin Morrison blew past her previous career high in blocked shots by turning away five Grand Canyon attempts on Saturday. Before that game, Morrison hadn’t recorded more than two blocks in a single game in her career. - The Crusaders made eight of their 12 3-point attempts last week at Miami (Ohio), shooting 66.7 percent from beyond the arc. That marked the sixth-best 3-point percentage in a single game (minimum 10 attempts) in program history. It was Valpo’s highest 3-point percentage in a single game since shooting a program-record 75 percent (9-of-12) from 3-point range on Dec. 19, 2012.

Milestone/Record Book Watch - Dani Franklin enters this game with 1,294 career points, which ranks fourth in Valpo history. She needs 167 more points to pass Jeanette Gray and move into third in program history. - Franklin holds a career scoring average of 13.9 points per game, which ranks second in program history. The program record is 18.4 points per game, set by Debbie Bolen (1989-93). - Franklin ranks sixth in Valpo history with 482 career made field goals. She needs 11 more to move past Marlous Nieuwveen (1998-2002) for fifth and 12 more to pass Stephanie Greer (1987-1991) for fourth. - Franklin ranks ninth in program history in 3-point field goals made with 143, needing three more to pass Megan Newcomer (1996-2000) for eighth and four to pass Betsy Adams (2008-2012) for seventh.- Franklin owns a career 3-point field goal percentage of .397, which currently sits third all-time. - Franklin is 17th in program history in rebounding with 515. She’s eight boards away from passing Gina Lange (2009-13) for 16th.

Inside the Falcons- Coming off winning the FAU Thanksgiving Tournament Title, beating Norfolk State 59-50 before topping host FAU 66-55. - Lone loss came 71-57 to Canisius on Nov. 19. - Resume also includes a 65-62 overtime win at Robert Morris and an 85-81 road victory over Detroit Mercy. - Have sprinted out to a 5-1 start after finishing 8-23 and 4-14 in the MAC a year ago. - Under the direction of sixth-year head coach Jennifer Roos, who spent 11 years as an assistant with the program before taking the helm. - Four players are averaging in double figures, led by Carly Santoro, who is scoring 15.0 points per game while hauling in a team-high 11.7 rebounds per contest. Santoro was a preseason all-MAC selection after starting all 31 games and leading the team with 12.0 points per game in 2016-17. - Santoro has five double-doubles in six games so far this season and was named the FAU Thanksgiving Tournament MVP after scoring 16 points and collecting 17 rebounds on Saturday against

No other team was better than plus-two. - The Crusaders have now captured league tournament wins in five of the last six seasons. - Valpo went 4-4 over its final eight games of the regular season, its best eight-game finish to a season of the Tracey Dorow era. - Dani Franklin was named to the all-league second-team, becoming the first Valpo player to make the Horizon League first or second team since Tabitha Gerardot in 2012-13. - The Crusaders had an all-league representative and an all-defensive team member in the same season for the first time since joining the Horizon League. - Franklin finished the season with 559 points, which ranks second in program history for points in a single year. Prior to 2016-17, the Crusaders hadn’t featured five true freshmen since 2010-11. Head Coach6th Season

277-275 overall, 45-112 at ValpoWestern Michigan, 1996

Tracey Dorow was named head coach of the Valparaiso women’s basketball program in April of 2012. The 2017-18 season will be her sixth in charge of Valpo’s program. In her career as a head coach, Dorow has amassed 275 victories.

Dorow has led the Crusaders to a Horizon League tournament victory in four of her first five seasons at the helm. During the 2014-15, 2015-16 and 2016-17 seasons, Valpo boasted three all-freshman team members, a Freshman of the Year, a Sixth Player of the Year, an all-league second-team honoree and an all-defensive team member. The Crusaders have enjoyed a significant uptick in all-league recognition under Dorow’s watch, as they had three total league honors in the five seasons before that three-year span.

Dorow arrived at Valpo after spending 14 seasons as the head coach at Ferris State University, guiding the Bull-dogs to four NCAA Division II Tournament appearances, two Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) North Division championships, and four 20-win seasons.

In her 14 seasons at Ferris State, Dorow compiled a 232-163 (.587) record, including a 23-7 mark in 2011-2012 while guiding the Bulldogs to the second round of the NCAA Tournament. The all-time winningest coach in FSU history, she led her squad to the Sweet Sixteen in 2007.

The GLIAC Coach of the Year in 2003-2004, Dorow had five players earn a total of seven All-American honors and had seven players tally 10 total All-Region Team accolades. Her student-athletes earned All-GLIAC honors 22 times and 10 times she had players represented on the GLIAC All-Defensive Team. Under Dorow’s guidance, Ferris State produced the GLIAC Player of the Year in 2000-2001, and she twice coached the GLIAC Freshman of the Year.

Dorow’s student-athletes also excelled in the classroom, as three times she has led a First Team Academic All-American and 14 times her players have earned Academic All-District honors. A total of 45 different players earned GLIAC All-Academic recognition during her time at Ferris State. Ferris State posted the No. 1 grade point average in the country in Division II for the 1999-2000 women’s basketball season, and her team ranked second in the nation in 2002-2003.

Dorow began her coaching career as an assistant coach at Lake Michigan Community College in Benton Harbor, Mich., where she helped lead the Indians to a 69-22 record in three seasons, winning two Western Collegiate Conference titles. Lake Michigan finished fourth in the 1997 NJCAA national tournament and held a No. 1 na-tional ranking in February of that same season. She also spent one season as a graduate assistant at the University of Indianapolis.

A collegiate player at Illinois State from 1990-1993, she led the Redbirds in assists as a sophomore while fin-ishing seventh in the Gateway Conference that same season. After transferring to Northern Michigan University for the 1993-1994 season, she earned Newcomer of the Year and Best Defensive Player honors for the Wildcats. Dorow had 131 assists and made 54 threes at NMU in her one season there. As a prep player, she finished third in the state of Michigan for Miss Basketball in 1990 and was named to the Detroit Free Press All-Decade Team.

Dorow earned her Bachelor of Science degree in education from Western Michigan University in 1996 and her Master of Arts degree from the University of Indianapolis in 2003 in curriculum and instruction. She has two children: Lainie and Baxter.
