TRANSCRIPT
Welcome! Now in our sixth season, we are excited to share with you what is happening in The Baroque Room for this 2016–17 season. The Saint Paul Classical Music Crawl is returning on October 15 with over twenty groups performing more than twenty mini-concerts throughout Lowertown. Called one of the top ten classical music events of 2015 by the Saint Paul Pioneer Press, this project, created and man-aged by The Baroque Room, allows us to show you
the remarkably diverse and vibrant classical music scene we have in the Twin Cities. We are also proud to announce the return of the third annual Twin Cities Baroque Instrumental Program, which we are also managing, to be held in August, 2017, at the University of Minnesota School of Music. Offering intensive study for advanced students and young professionals (auditors also welcome) with some of the world’s top early musicians, the workshop is one the very best programs of its kind in the United States. Our International Artist Series continues with recitals by harpsichord-ists Sungyun Cho and Byron Schenkman. The Lunchtime Concert Series (select Fridays at noon, free) previews concerts of weekend performances. And, of course, the heart of our concert offerings are presented by artists from all over the Twin Cities featuring a wide variety of performers and styles, from opera, baroque orchestra, or solo violin to contemporary works and music from the Renaissance. We are proud of our amazing classical music community here in the Twin Cities and look forward to a fantastic season. We’ll see you at The Baroque Room!
Marc Levine and Tami Morse, Cofounders
ABOUT THE BAROQUE ROOMThe Baroque Room is a performance space in the Lowertown neighborhood of down-town Saint Paul. The Baroque Room is part of an inclusive movement to provide an af-fordable performance venue for chamber musicians, and to create a diverse and stable early music scene in the Twin Cities. Designed with an especially resonant acoustic appropriate for early music, The Baroque Room houses a William Dowd double-manual Franco-Flemish harpsichord, a Flentrop Chamber Organ, a 1981 6'7" Bosendorfer grand piano (Model 200), Stein fortepiano, and a Mason & Hamlin grand piano (practice studio), generously on loan from the Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra, The Schubert Club, and Dorothy Horns, respectively. The Baroque Room offers wall space to showcase the work of local artists, houses a display featuring facsimiles of letters from The Schubert Club Museum collection, and produces various concerts and events including the Inter-national Artist Series, Twin Cities Baroque Instrumental Program, and Saint Paul Clas-sical Music Crawl. The Baroque Room was created with support from the Lowertown Future Fund, St. Paul Cultural STAR, and private donations.
All concerts are subject to change. Additional concerts may be added and others canceled. Please join our email list for updates and concert reminders or visitwww.thebaroqueroom.com for more information.
These concerts are supported, in part, by the Minnesota State Arts Board, Metropolitan Regional Arts Council, Lowertown Future Fund, and individual donors.
