Ministry is about life in Christ which affects everything we do. Church Life
Providence Day School to Rent Parking Spots
Our neighbor, Providence Day School, will begin construction on a new parking deck this summer. Sardis
Presbyterian Church will be renting 130 of our parking spaces during school hours to PDS during the construction
phase, which will last for roughly 16 months. The spaces to be rented are behind the cemetery and along the
Francis property. Of course, in the event of a large funeral, they would vacate the spaces to allow for Sardis
parking.
The dollars we are receiving from the agreement will be used for capital property projects with 10% of the
proceeds going toward missions. As those projects are completed, we will let you know what wonderful things are
being done at Sardis through these dollars. We are thankful for this opportunity to partner with Providence Day
School.
Sardis Care Connection Needs You
The Sardis Care Connection Ministry is seeking people who would reach out to
church members who have experienced the death of an immediate family
member or a birth. The Sardis Care Connection reaches out through phone calls,
visits, or a written note. It is another way in which we attempt to “share one
another’s burdens” and joys. If you are interested, contact Rev. Alice Johnson at
704.366.1854 or [email protected].
Come Sing in the Summer Choir!
This summer, we will be continuing our worship
schedule offering two different styles of worship. At 9 a.m.,
come and worship in the Fellowship Hall with our praise
band. At 11 a.m., come and worship in the Sanctuary, and
sing with the organ and piano. (July 3 will be a combined
worship at 10 a.m. in the Sanctuary.)
Beginning June 19, the singing in our 11 a.m. worship service
will be led by a “summer choir.” Those who would like to
sing on a given Sunday are invited to come and rehearse at 10
a.m. The music will be easy and fun to sing, with songs such
as “On Eagles Wings”, “Fairest Lord Jesus”, and “His Eye is
on the Sparrow”. There is no commitment necessary; just
come when you would like.
Please contact Jared if you have any questions at

Let’s Talk About Religion and Politics!
While it has been said that you shouldn’t discuss religion and politics in polite company, there is much in the Bible
and the legacy of the Church that suggests otherwise. As a Christian people, flavored with the Reformed Tradition
of the Presbyterian Church, we have affirmed the sovereignty of God, and we have declared that there is no arena
within human life that is outside the Lordship of Jesus Christ.
In this political season, if you are seeking a time for thoughtful reflection on the intersection of religion and
politics, plan to be part of four evening discussions this June titled, “Let’s Talk About Religion and Politics!” We
will meet in room 211/212 from 6:30 – 8:00 p.m.
The proposed schedule will be:
June 8: How Does the Bible Talk About Religion and Politics?
June 15: How Has the Church Talked About Religion and Politics?
June 22: How Do We Talk to Each Other About Religion and Politics?
June 29: How Does Talk About Religion Transform Politics?
No time to eat before class? We will order sandwich boxes (sandwich, chips and cookie) or salads from Panera
Bread. The menu will be listed in the bulletin on the Sunday before and on the Sardis website. Reservations for a
boxed meal must be made by noon on the Monday before the class on Wednesday on the Sardis website or by
emailing Rev. Dr. Jane Fobel, [email protected]. The cost for the meal is $8.50 and may be paid online or on
Wednesday evening. Questions? Contact Jane Fobel at [email protected] or 704.366.1854.
Adult Summer Sunday School
Sunday School will continue to be offered for
children, youth and adults during the summer.
There will be one adult class offered at 10 a.m. in room 211
‐212. This 45‐minute class will be refreshing! The
leadership will include the Sardis pastors, Sheri Joseph,
Director of Transformative Operations at CMC, Linda
McKechnie, and Rev. Dr. Leighton Ford, President of
Leighton Ford Ministries. Topics will vary.
Please plan to join us as we learn about different topics
that affect us in our world today as Christians.
The summer Sunday School schedule begins June 12.
Elementary Summer Sunday School will meet in Room 205/206. We will be exploring the parable of
Jesus using the Holy Moly curriculum, which includes videos and exciting activities.

“We make a living by what we get; we make a life by what we give.”
– Sir Winston Churchill
Summer is upon us! School has dismissed for the year. We are
actively planning summer vacations and are looking forward to time
spent with friends and family. The memories that will be created from
the time spent with others and the new and exciting experiences that
we will encounter over the summer will be countless.
Just as countless are the opportunities that exist at Sardis to touch and
enrich the lives of others this summer. Whether it be through your
personal experience in receiving special messages and inspiration
through worship and music at our Sunday services, during youth
mission trips, Sardis Weekday School camps, childrenʹs music camps,
Vacation Bible School, Camp Holiday, and other summer programs,
Sardis will continue to impact the lives of many people this summer.
All of these programs and activities could not be accomplished
without our talented staff and the many volunteers that continue to
tirelessly give of their time and talents. Another very important
aspect of the success and breadth of the programs that we are able to
offer is your continued financial support throughout the summer
months. We ask that you keep your financial commitment to Sardis
current during summer.
It is because of your continued financial support that we can continue
to make a difference in the lives of others in our community and the
world!
