Dallas Museum of Art –International Pop When: October 11 – January 17, 2016 Where: Dallas Museum of Art, Dallas Arts District. What: This groundbreaking exhibition follows the trajectories of Pop and its critical points of contact with global developments in art such as Nouveau Réalisme (France), Concretism and Neo-Concretism (Brazil), The Art of Things (Argentina), Anti-Art (Japan), Capitalist Realism (Germany), Happenings, and Neo-Dada. www.dma.org
Dallas Museum of Art – Jackson Pollock: Blind Spots When: November 15, 2015 – March 20, 2016 Where: Dallas Museum of Art, Dallas Arts District. What: Jackson Pollock: Blind Spots will illuminate this underexplored but pivotal part of the artist’s practice. The exhibition will explore the Pollock’s practice via a selection of paintings made between 1947 and 1949; these works will serve to contextualize the radical departure represented by the Black Pourings, a series of black enamel and oil paintings that Pollock created between 1951 and 1953. www.dma.org
Dallas Museum of Art – Vermeer Suite: Music in 17th-Century Dutch Paintings When: January 17 – August 21, 2016 Where: Dallas Museum of Art, Dallas Arts District. What: The great 17th-century Dutch painter Johannes Vermeer created fewer than forty paintings during his lifetime, and Young Woman Seated at a Virginal from 1670–72 is believed to be one of his last. This masterpiece is the inspiration for the DMA exhibition Vermeer Suite: Music in 17th-Century Dutch Paintings, which includes seven additional loans from the Leiden Collection of works by Vermeer’s contemporaries.
Nasher Sculpture Center - Ann Veronica Janssens When: January 23 – April 17, 2016 Where: Nasher Sculpture Garden, Dallas Arts District What: Known primarily as a light artist, Ann Veronica Janssens is interested in “situations of dazzlement… the persistence of vision, vertigo, saturation, speed, and exhaustion”— how the body responds to certain scientific phenomena and conditions. In her Nasher exhibition, the first one person museum exhibition in the United States for the Brussels-based artist, Janssens will install several sculptural works that allow viewers to encounter shifts in surface, depth, and color, challenging perception and destabilizing their sense of sight and space. www.nashersculpturecenter.org

Chinese New Year street festival in Dallas Arts District When: February 13, 2016 Where: Crow Collection of Asian Art What: A spectacular Dragon and Lion Dance, cultural performances, martial arts demos, live music, food trucks, fireworks, arts and crafts, wellness activities and Museum tours are on tap as the Crow Collection of Asian Art host its biggest-ever street festival celebrating Chinese New Year - Year of the Monkey. Free and open to the public, the 17th annual festival takes place in the Dallas Arts District Saturday (Feb. 13). Highlights include traditional Chinese New Year art-making activities such as decorating red envelopes and making sheep headbands and glowing paper lanterns, plus calligraphy demonstrations, face painting, fortune telling, photo booth and family yoga. The day also includes non-stop entertainment on the Main Stage.
