Greetings Drifters: During this difficult time, I hope you are all well and coping with the restrictions put on all of us right now. Let us all be patient and follow the guidelines so see we can socialize sooner rather than later. The April meeting set a record with 100% membership participation. We had to bring in extra chairs and the owners and staff at Sergio’s called in an emergency supply of Coronas (minus the virus) and food. I informed the club of my executive decision that we no longer will be a democracy. I am the new King of the Drifters and will rule this club until my death or a coup. I am in the process of setting up my royal court. Gifts are welcome and will be judged for possible appointments. In addition, it is my firm belief we should increase the membership to 100. More gifts, you know. I will be actively seek-ing adding members by going to single bars in West Hollywood and perusing local dating sites. This should enable us to gain a remarkably diverse membership. If any of you have any ideas regarding membership drives, please let me know. Robert and Cathy Smith made an announcement at the meeting that they recently won 1.8 billion dollars betting on alli-gator racing in Dubai. They have graciously offered to purchase 2020 4 door jeeps for every member. Please be sure to tell them your color preference and trim packages. Norm and Karyn Gerwien will insure all new jeeps for the first year at no charge. Rick Buckley Jr. will be installing radios in them all. If you would like personalized plates, please contact Brian and Angie Shively. The upcoming PPP is still moving forward but instead of steaks I decided we will have finger sandwiches and a home-made ice cream contest. Alcohol will only be served to the royal court. I believe that incentivizes the gift giving men-tioned earlier. Everyone not on the royal court is asked not to make eye contact with the royals and to be out of sight and quiet by 8:00 pm. Our upcoming runs and meetings we will giving points to all members regardless of attendance. This is in the spirit of fairness. We do not want anyone left out. I am calling it the everyone gets a blue-ribbon initiative. We have gone far too long without a medical staff for this club. I have appointed Dr. Fauci as our chief of staff. We are not getting any younger. He looks forward to meeting you all and giving each of us a very personal and thorough exam. Next meeting. Thursday May7th. Zoom meeting at 7:30pm. I will be working with Daryl and Rick Jr to set this up. More info to come. We will likely have a trial run a few days before to work out the kinks. We have new of-ficers pending and only need to decide who the President will be. Daryl Ramona and Gary Parkin have both expressed interest in doing it. We are looking into a secure site to do the voting. With confirmation sent to the current Pres and VP. Other officers are as follows Brian Shively (VP), Sandy Dewhurst (Treasurer), Kathleen Calva (Secretary). Patrick Standing on a hill in mountain of dreams, telling myself it’s not as hard as it seems

April-October Run Borrego Springs

We hope you are all SAFE during this unprecedented time in our lives! Since I am sure you are all wondering, we want to bring everyone up to date on the run to Borrego Springs that was scheduled for April 24th. We have held off as long as possible in making a difficult decision, but due to COVID-19, we have no choice but to POSTPONE our run. Yes, you read it correctly!! We are NOT cancelling it, just simply postponing it, until the virus gets under control and they reopen the Anza-Borrego and Ocotillo Wells off road land! After much communication and brainstorming, the April and October trail-bosses have decided to join forces and reschedule the Borrego Springs Run for OCTOBER 9-11, 2020. Monday, October 12th is Columbus Day, so for some of you that might be a holiday and allow you an extra day to camp. Due to the fact that October moves us into ‘PRIME SEASON’ at The Springs at Borrego RV Resort, there will be a difference in rates. The new rate for a full hook-up RV space is $50 per night. Still a great price for this park! At this point, you have a couple of options:
Confirm that you will still be able to join us and send us the additional $23 per night. Cancel your reservation and receive an immediate refund. Add a reservation if you previously were unable to attend.
It is simple as that! You can email Karyn at: [email protected] or call her @ 909-5531166 to discuss. The additional payment can be sent to 933 Kregmont Dr., Glendora CA 91741 We are certainly missing everyone and are excited that we have something to look forward to when we can once again enjoy our social gatherings. Until then, BE WELL!
