Attendance at School Attendance at school counts!!!
Think of it as your job to be to school on time and attend daily
Tardy to school for unexcused reasons = lunch detention that day. The tardy bell rings at 8:15.
Students who participate in extra-curricular activities and athletics will not be allowed to
participate if they arrive later than 8:25 without a legal excuse. Excused and/or legal excuses only include documented illness, legal matters,
religious observance, or an emergency. An orange note must be on file in the building office for all tardy arrivals
(excused and unexcused), absences, and times when students are released early from school.
****As per our district attendance policy, letters are generated and sent home to parents when students reach 6, 10, 14, and 18 days absent or tardy regardless of the type of of absence (excused or unexcused). If attendance doesn’t improve, further interventions will be put in place.
Report Cards and Progress Reports
Quartly Report Cards and Progress Reports (Interims) will be sent home with students during the 2016-2017 school year.
If your child is failing a class, two report cards will be sent one. The one on colored paper needs to be signed by the parent and returned.

Social Media and Middle School
Web based social media sites accessible by computers, tablets, cell phones, and IPod's with internet access have become a major factor in the academic, social, and emotional welfare of students at Cohen Middle School.
Examples include: Facebook, Myspace, Kik Messenger, Instagram, Snapchat, Ask.FM, Vine, and Twitter. And don’t forget the texting feature on cell phones!
Issues that develop outside of school often become an in-school concern for students, whether real or perceived.
