2016-17 Back to School Packet
August 17, 2016 On behalf of the Cherry Chase Parent Teacher Association (PTA) and Cherry Chase School, we welcome all of our new and returning families. We look forward to a fantastic year! Our Cherry Chase PTA is an involved group that plays a positive role in shaping your child’s experience at Cherry Chase. Working together as parents, teachers, and staff, we bring many exciting programs to our children, including Noontime Physical Education Coaches, Fine Arts Mini Experience (FAME), Science Assemblies, Outdoor Garden, Music Programs, and more. We also run over 20 After School Programs, Family Fun events, and help upgrade and maintain technology for the classrooms and computer lab. We are a large, active, smart, diverse, caring and creative group -- and we want you to join in the fun! Attached is our 2016-17 PTA Membership Form so you can do just that. You will also find our Direct Appeal Campaign information, School Calendar for your refrigerator, and several fliers. Our Annual Volunteer Faire & Orientation is on Friday, August 19, from 7:45-9:00 am. Please join us! Come early to get on the list for your favorite event or program team. Then stay after the Flag Salute for more signing up plus our Volunteer Orientation for new parents. We’ll end by 9:30 am. Look for our weekly Charger E-Blast e-newsletter coming to your computer’s inbox on Thursday mornings with the latest PTA and school info. Also, visit www.cherrychasepta.org for details on all things PTA. We welcome all parents with open arms to the PTA. We have a place for everyone, and we need your ACTIVE participation in our school community. Time spent volunteering and being PTA members helps families forge strong connections with others in our community, so we encourage you to get involved. With your participation, it is going to be a fabulous year! We are both honored to be part of your child’s year and thank you for making the connection with other parents, kids, teachers and staff. Looking forward to a wonderful 2016-2017! April Durrett

If you have any questions, please contact Sherry Ger, PTA Admin VP, at [email protected].
Cherry Chase Student/Parent Directory Phone App
The PTA has purchased an easytouse directory phone app this year in lieu of the online
directory. It will be easier than ever to find contact information for parents or students you wish
to reach. The DirectorySpot App only lists phone numbers and emails – no addresses are included. Information will be sortable by classroom, grade level, or name.
Why is this mobile school directory so helpful?
FAST Unlike a mobile website, you don’t need an internet connection or to wait for data to load.
ACCESS ANYTIME Once the app is downloaded on your iPhone or Android device, it doesn’t “load” whenever you
open it. It sits on your device and you can readily access it anytime, even if you are offline.
EASY SEARCHES The app's search feature makes searching by teacher, grade, or name easy and fast.
TOUCHTOCONTACT Dial and email by clicking on fields within the app.
NO MORE PAPER AND SECURE Good for the environment, good for you! All data is encrypted + personal password protected,
so your information is kept private.
UPTODATE Updated anytime by the PTA administrator through our secure website.
If you don't have an iPhone or Android phone, you can access the Directory data via the web
and we can also provide a PDF of the family data, if needed. Look for more information about
DirectorySpot in the Charger eBlast email newsletter in the coming weeks. We will let you know
when our directory is ready to be accessed!
If you'd like to opt out of the directory and take your family's contact information out, contact [email protected] .
Shop-n-Support Cherry Chase Elementary!
Welcome to 2016-17 school year! Every time you shop locally or online at stores such as Amazon.com, Target & Macys, Cherry Chase Elementary can earn between 1% and 5% of your spend. Take the following 5 steps to make your spend count and support your school.
Use Cherry Chase amazon.com link every time you shop there. For every $100 you spend the school gets $4 dollars from that spend. This can add up quickly as an average amazon.com customer spends $1000 every year. Bookmark the Cherry Chase amazon.com link and re-member to use it every time you shop there.
For Target, if you have the the Target REDcard (credit and debit card), enroll your card with their ‘Take Charge of Education’ program at the REDcard website and select Cherry Chase as your school (http://www.target.com/redcard/benefits-target-rewards)
Enroll your child in the drawing class at Draw2Art in Los Altos and 50% of your first month tuition is donated to our school. Please bring a copy of this flyer to your free trial class. Do let them know your child goes to Cherry Chase Elementary. This applies to new students on-ly.
For all your sports needs head down to Sports Basement in Sunnyvale. Mention ‘Cherry Chase Elementary School’ and receive 10% off your purchases, with 10% of the profits going to Cherry Chase.
Join eScrip with your Macy’s card. Go to escrip.com, click on ’New? Sign Up’ link, select Cherry Chase PTA as the school and submit your application. Current members remember to renew your membership for this school year at escrip.com..
