Turtle Rock Summer Camp, established in 1981, has a long history of providing some of the best

summer enrichment opportunities in Orange County. Our program thrives with a high summer

camper return rate, and we invite you to join us in continuing this tradition. With each summer,

elementary school-aged children can choose from a new variety of exciting, educational and

challenging activities led by experienced, professional educators and counselors.

We know that your child is unique, and we believe his or her summer camp experience should be

as well. We offer a customizable schedule that caters to your child’s interests and needs. At Turtle

Rock Summer Camp, you can expect that your child will experience each adventure at his or her

own pace. Our weekly themes, field trips and excursions are picked so that all age groups engage

in a fun and safe environment to explore, create, learn, imagine and make new friends.

Come join us and together, we will make 2015 the best summer yet!

Programming is the heart of any camp. We pride ourselves on offering new, creative field trips and activities that are developed to meet the changing needs of today’s campers. Each age group

program is developmentally appropriate and designed to offer variety for our returning campers. With each themed week your child will experience a new adventure every day.

Squirt campers are encouraged to explore, create and play

through endless experiences. Whether exploring the outdoors, developing new friendships or

learning new sports skills, campers are sure to have a

blast. On scheduled field trip days, campers will travel to

exciting local destinations such as Zoomars, Irvine Park,

Discovery Science Center, and Sigler Park Splash Pad.

Honus camp daily schedule provides ample time for field trips, arts and crafts, sports, cooking and special events

such as movies, mystery guests and more. On

scheduled field trip days, campers will travel to

awesome local destinations such as Creamistry,

Heritage Museum, Funtopia, Metrolink to the Mission,

and the beach.

Crushes, our oldest campers, want non-stop action! The adventures chosen for this

group encourage their independence and

choices – from creating the next artistic masterpiece to

riding the fastest roller coaster. On scheduled field trip days, campers will travel to exciting

local destinations such as ChocXO, California Pizza

Kitchen, Knott’s Soak City, and the pool.

Turtle Rock Summer Camp is a place where memories and long lasting friendships are made. During this first week, campers will get various opportunities to get to know each other by participating in team-building activities. Our bowling trip to Irvine Lanes will allow campers to work together as a team as they compete for the highest team score.

Sparks will fly while campers are jumping at Big Air Trampoline! This week is filled with adventurous trips that will satisfy any thrill-seeker in our midst. Bricks 4 Kidz will also be onsite with fun math and physics demonstrations using Lego bricks.

This week is all about furry, scaly, and slithery creatures! Campers will get an opportunity to interact with live animals during their field trips and learn how certain animals are cared for. Crushes will visit The Pet Rescue Center and go behind the scenes to see veterinarians in action. Other animal-filled trips include: Zoomars, Aquarium of the Pacific, and Trotting Pony Rides at Irvine Regional Park.

Summer heat means summer water fun! This week children will experience going out on the open ocean for a Whale Watching boat trip. Campers will experience seeing the amazing Grey Whales during their yearly migration. Other water-filled trips include Knott’s Soak City and Buccaneer’s Cove.

No summer is complete without spending ample time in nature! This week will be all about the wonderful outdoors! Our Squirts will enjoy a fun trip to the Santa Ana Zoo while exploring nature and learning about the animals that reside at the zoo. Our Honus and Crushes will enjoy the beautiful ocean scenery while paddle boarding and kayaking the Newport Beach Back Bay.

This week Honus and Crushes will visit ChocXO Chocolate Factory and Creamistry where they will have an opportunity to make their own chocolate and ice cream creations. Squirts will express their creativity and imagination while visiting Pretend City. The week will end at Dave and Busters, a cool, fun, and hip arcade!

Children will go back in time this week as we learn about the “Good Old Days”. Campers will witness an exciting pirate duel while visiting Pirates Adventure as well as a knight battle during the Medieval Times excursion, a yearly favorite! Who will be the winners in these suspenseful crusades?

Who’s ready for a challenge? Campers will go to Flightdeck, a realistic flight simulator based on the Boeing 737-800! Our older campers will conquer zip-lining through the hills of Irvine Park. Other trips include Rock Climbing and Wild Fire Gymnastics. This week is especially for our daring campers!

The fun continues at Turtle Rock Summer Camp! This week includes a trip to California Pizza Kitchen where children will make their own pizza from scratch as well as create their own ice cream sundaes. To beat the summer heat, our Squirts will enjoy going to Splash Pad, a child-friendly water park.

We’ve saved some of the best for last! We will start this short week off by taking a trip to the happiest place on earth, Disneyland! Camp culminates with a trip to a local park for a farewell BBQ and fun games.

For some of our youngest campers, this may be their first time at camp. We find that offering lots of on–site activities and easing them into select off-site age appropriate field trips helps build their confidence to experience each adventure to its fullest.

Be safeHave funBuild self-confidence

Make new friendsRespect othersPractice patience

Express creativityBe honestEnjoy every minute of camp!

A word from our Coordinator: Squirts are our smallest, but mightiest group! This age group is full of energy and often express their enthusiasm and excitement throughout the day while at camp. This year I have planned more off-site excursions for the Squirts to make their summer even more fun and memorable!

Gamez on Wheelz Campers will experience the ultimate gaming experience as they play all the latest video games in Gamez on Wheelz’s comfortable and roomy limo style theater.

Journal Writing We know the benefits of journal writing, so during our down time, the campers will be given various opportunities to write or draw their thoughts and ideas in their own journals.

Whale Watching Exploring our beautiful ocean and its amazing inhabitants is what we will be doing during our whale watching trip. Children will get an opportunity to see migrating whales, as well as dolphins who love playing along side the boat!

Week-long Projects Campers will be given art projects that require time and various steps. We know that art builds confidence and creativity, since there are infinite ways to create each project. Every camper can be proud of his or her artistic creations.

Irvine Park Giddy up! This trip offers fun trotting pony rides before we climb aboard a 1/3 scale train that will take us through the beautiful and historic Irvine Regional Park.

Wildfire Gymnastics Campers will practice their coordination and balancing skills while taking on the trampoline and tumble track. Organized games and activities are part of the fun while on this field trip.

. . . and So Much More!

As our campers get older and bigger so does their need for extreme adventure! A variety of off-campus field trips and excursions guarantees a truly fun-filled summer. Social time with friends is also very important to this age group, as well as giving them ample opportunities to just hang-out or play a group game. Whether on-site or off, their summer will be a non-stop fun experience for each one of them!

Logic and critical thinkingDevelop leadership skillsConfidence

Be a good example to othersEncourage a sense of independence Have a blast!

Camp Store At the end of each week, Crushes will be in charge of running the Camp Store. Campers will earn, save, and then spend their camp money to purchase small items. Younger campers who need assistance with handling and counting money will be helped by Crushes running the camp store that day.

ChocXO This yummy tour is sure to bring many smiles! ChocXO will educate campers about the process of how cocoa beans are transformed and made into a chocolate bar. Not only will the children learn about the cocoa bean, but they will also sample different types of chocolates throughout the tour.

Bricks 4 Kidz This onsite activity allows campers to explore with Legos while learning the fundamentals of engineering, architecture, and physics. These onsite visits are led by Bricks 4 Kids staff and will be at camp for eight weeks throughout the summer.

California Pizza Kitchen Campers will get a chance to make their own pizza from scratch! While the pizzas are in the oven, the campers will have a tour of the kitchen. A meal isn’t complete without dessert, so children will then create their own sundaes to complete a grand excursion.

Big Air This premier indoor trampoline park offers high-flying fun for campers where they can literally bounce off the walls! Campers will enjoy trampoline dodgeball courts, slam dunk courts, foam pits, launch pads, a rock climbing wall, battle beam and a massive freestyle court.

Metrolink to the Mission Crushes will hop onboard the Metrolink to get to the historic Mission San Juan Capistrano. We will explore the Mission and then have lunch and a local pizzeria. An adventurous field trip for adventurous campers!

• Your child must wear his or her Turtle Rock Summer Camp shirt every day, whether or not he or she participates in a field trip. Campers may leave campus at anytime for impromptu nearby excursions. Please label ALL personal belongings with your child’s name.

• Camp Store and Dollars: Your child will earn camp dollars for a variety of reasons: good behavior, good deeds, “Homework” and remembering key facts from field trips and visitor presentations. Every Thursday and Friday, campers will get an opportunity to go to the Camp Store and spend their money, or save it for bigger items the following week.

• Beach / Pool / Water Play days are always on Mondays! Your child must come dressed in his or her bathing suit. Towels are needed and water shoes are highly recommended! How do I know which age category my child falls into?Children are placed into groups based on their grade level, with exceptions made when appropriate.Squirts: Completed Kindergarten – Completed 1st GradeHonus: Completed 2nd Grade - Completed 3rd GradeCrushes: Completed 4th Grade - Completed 6th Grade

Are there any refunds or credits for days that my child is sick or absent? Please notify the office at (949) 854-7611 by 8:00 am if your child will be absent. Unfortunately, camp activities are booked in advance based on the registrations received, so we are unable to provide credits or refunds for days missed due to sickness or for any other reason. Scheduled days may not be switched to non-scheduled days.

What should my child wear to camp each day?Your child must wear his or her Turtle Rock Camp T-Shirt every day and should dress in cool/comfortable summer clothes with closed-toed shoes. Please put sunscreen on your child before arriving in the morning. Complete a Sunscreen Application Authorization Form, available in the office or online, and send a labeled bottle of sunscreen to school for us to re-apply sunscreen later in the day.

What should my child wear and bring to camp on water activity days?On water activity or beach/pool days (indicated on the calendar with a water drop icon ) please send your child to school with a towel, wearing his or her bathing suit, and with sunscreen already applied. Rash guards with the Turtle Rock logo are required for any off-site water activity and may be purchased for $18. For better sun pro-tection, we suggest baseball caps or other hats with brims. Your child is required to bring a backpack on these days containing a change of clothes, a towel, and sandals or water shoes. All items must be clearly marked with your child’s name.

What lunch options are available for my camper?A freshly prepared hot lunch is normally available for purchase when campers are on-site. Excursions and field trips occasionally include lunch, or we may ask you to send a sack lunch, or have your child bring cash to purchase lunch. Specific options and instructions are described under each excursion on our registration portal and parents will be reminded via our website and Remind app. If bringing a lunch from home, it must be brought each day in a disposable Ziploc or paper bag (not a lunch box) with your child’s name and the date clearly marked. Snacks are provided by Camp.

What are optional excursions?On-site visitors and certain standard field trips are included in weekly tuition rates. We also offer certain Premium Optional Excursions for an additional fee that are available on a limited first-come, first-served basis for age-appropriate children. These excursions range in price depending upon the activity. Those not participating will still have a fun-filled day on campus.

How many weeks must I sign-up for?You may enroll for as little as one week, or any number of weeks you choose, depending upon availability. Select the program that’s right for your family and schedule.

How do I sign-up?Registration is available on a first-come, first-served basis via our online registration portal (turtlerocksummercamp.com) only. Online registration begins at 10 AM on Thursday, April 16. Spaces are limited, and camp does sell out every year. Early registration is encouraged to avoid any disappointment.
