Board of Directors

Why are some haircolorists more successful than others? Why do some haircolorists breeze through the day unaffected by the challenges they face? There can only be one answer, EDUCATION. But where can you find haircolor education is a question we are faced with everyday.

Manufacturers are responsible for almost all of the education today. Which can be great but it also can be limiting to the haircolorist. This is why I created a one of a kind seminar produced completely by haircolorists. There are few educators who teach generic education and we are privileged to have the very best participating in our event.

We offer small classes so you have a chance to ask questions and interact with the educators. There are a variety of haircolor subjects to choose from so you can really focus on the areas you need help in most. You also have the opportunity to participate in hands on classes. We even have business classes that are focused on the haircolorist and how to succeed.

So the answer to where you can find haircolor education is here, at the Energizing Summit and working towards becoming a American Board Certified Haircolorist. We look forward to your participation and encourage you to work towards being the best you that you can be. Become Board Certified!

General Assembly8:00 A.M. Sunday

Andre NizetichKeynote Speaker

What is the secret to success? Is there really a secret? Over the past 20 years Dennis Gebhart has had the opportunity to work with many mentors. They taught him that success in business is mirrored by success in relationships and success in life. They are one and the same and you cannot have one without the other. There is no real secret to success, but rather guide points for our mindset, attitude, perceptions, disciplines, habits, behaviors and value to others. He is honored to share what he has learned from these great mentors and is convinced that by using this information to measure his own behaviors in his personal life as well as his business it has effectively created the success he enjoys today. His desire is that you will find it beneficial as well.

Dennis GebhartMaster of Ceremony

The Challenges We FaceHow are we as an industry influenced by social media and print ads? I read an article recently which the headline stated “Retailing the Lifeblood of the Beauty Industry.” I thought what has happened to our industry when retailing, not service, becomes a priority. Retailing is a priority for retailers not for salons and haircolorists. Retailing should not overtake service as the priority. We must remain true to our cause, service!

Join us for our 15th Anniversary Cocktail Party!

Intro to Balayage & Ombre

The first time a celebrity became fascinated with her new Balayage and Ombre haircolor it became the new craze. Balayage means to sweep in french. The color technique is achieved by sweeping bleach

onto the hair. When you witness it being executed it looks simple. Make no mistake, it requires skill and talent to make it look sensational. The Ombre is very much the same technique. You will do Ba-layage on one side of the mannequin and Ombre on the other. Both techniques in one exciting 3 hour class. Led by Monica Byrne and her team of haircolorists, you will love this class. This class has a $25.00 surcharge for the maintenance of the mannequin. You will be using a mock bleach and the mannequin will remain in the classroom at the end of the class.

Mastering undertones is having the ability to pre-dict what the outcome of the color will be, based on the natural haircolor. This class will teach you how you can confidently use the Natural Hair-color Categories to predict the outcome of a hair-color. The haircolor in the tube or bottle is a con-stant. The only thing that changes are undertones, and they are based on your client’s parentage and the colors the hair has gone through while grow-ing up. You will learn to use the client consulta-tion swatch chart and you will come away from this class with the ability to better anticipate the final color result. This is a class for the newer haircolorist and anyone seeking to become an American Board Certified Haircolorist.

The Art of The Blow Dry™While just about anyone reading this has done thousands upon thousands of blow dries, what promise is held for you in this class?Blow drying is singly the most debilitating aspect of hairdressing, for many the most boring and for everyone, the last memory a guest has be-fore they leave your salon and how they finally rate their satisfaction. In this class, you will be inspired with our processes of developing a new vision and approach to your finish. Understanding the positive effect a proper blow dry can have on color treated hair will make a huge difference in client satisfaction, retention and referrals. The cuticle of the hair is al-ways abraded from haircolor and to a much greater degree from bleaching, especially if you use a natural bristle brush. Some may choose to continue blow drying hair to a greater damage but during the Energizing Summit, you can learn how to bring back the luster and increase your pride in your finishing with these new insights presented in the “Art of the Blow Dry.”

The object of this class is to have you think-ing differently about how you place foils in the hair. A good part of what you do is prepara-tion. Foils, bleach, brushes and combs are all specialized tools used for foil work. Having different sizes of everything for each of the techniques you use will give you the ability to think more creatively about what you do. We fall into a pattern, all of us do things the same way day in and day out. This class is not only fun but it will teach you to be more productive with your foil work. “In Toronto we do things differently. We have a different outlook about how we color hair. Come to my class I think you will love it.”

Then the participants will compare results: which is faster, which is slower, which produces the most dust when mixing. It is also interesting to note the pH of each bleach and how much it changes the longer the bleach has been mixed. The price of each bleach is explored to see if the more expensive bleaches are worth the additional money. You will come away from this class with a world of knowledge about bleaches.
