USA I Team

Allison BrockBorn: December 7, 1979 Residence: Loxahatchee, Fla.Rosevelt – 2002 Hanoverian stallion owned by Claudine and Fritz Kundrun

Allison Brock grew up riding in the state of Hawaii and moved to the mainland to pursue a career in dressage at age 17. After working under the direction of U.S. Olympic medalist Sue Blinks for several years, Brock now serves as head trainer for Fritz and Claudine Kundrun at their Deer Meadow Farms.

With the stallion Rosevelt, Brock has developed a solid partnership. The pair moved up to the Grand Prix Level in 2013. They found success the following year, beginning with a win in the Grand Prix at the Gold Coast Dressage Finale I. Brock and Rosevelt then won both the Grand Prix and Grand Prix Special at the CDI-W Dressage at Devon.

Brock is off to strong start in 2015, finishing first and sec-ond in the Grand Prix and Grand Prix Special, respectively,

with Rosevelt during week one of the Adequan Global Dressage Festival (AGDF). They scored another win in the Grand Prix during week seven of the AGDF.

Laura GravesBorn: July 22, 1987 Residence: Plymouth, Fla.Verdades – 2002 Dutch Warmblood gelding owned by the rider

Laura Graves is an accomplished international FEI competi-tor and USDF Gold Medalist. She has been studying the art of dressage for over 20 years. Her mount, Verdades, was chosen from a video by her mother as a foal. Laura advanced him up the levels herself with the guidance of trainers.

In 2012, Graves and Verdades led Team USA II to a third-place finish in the WEF Wellington Dressage Nations Cup CDIO3* presented by Stillpoint Farm. Individually, the pair was third in the Prix St. Georges and fourth in the Intermediaire Freestyle. At the 2012 USEF Dressage Festival of Champi-ons, Graves and Verdades were eighth overall in the USEF National Intermediaire I Championship.

In 2013, Graves competed Verdades at the Intermediaire II level. At the Great American Insurance Group/USDF Region

3 Dressage Championships, the pair was second in the Intermediaire II Championship. They then traveled to the US Dressage Finals presented by Adequan and claimed top honors in the Intermediate II Open Championship.

Graves had her biggest year to date in 2014. Begin-ning the year at the Adequan Global Dressage Festival (AGDF), she moved Verdades up to the Grand Prix level and won the Grand Prix during week three. The pair had another great performance during week seven, coming in second in the Grand Prix Special. Graves and Verdades then scored two more second-place finishes during the final week of the AGDF in the CDI3* Grand Prix and Grand Prix Freestyle. They then traveled to the KDA 28th Annual Dressage Show, where they were second in the CDI3* Grand Prix Freestyle.

On a roll, Graves competed Verdades in the U.S. Dres-sage Festival of Championship presented by The Dutta Corp. They were second in the Grand Prix Special and Grand Prix Freestlye, tied for fourth in the Grand Prix, and finished second overall in The Dutta Corp./USEF Grand Prix Dressage National Championship. Their performance earned them a spot on the Short List for the 2014 Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games U.S. Dressage Team, enabling them to compete in Europe for the first time.

At CDI4* Fritzens-Schindlhof, Graves and Verdades scored two second-place finishes in the Grand Prix and Grand Prix Special. Two weeks later at CDIO5* Aachen, they were eighth in the Grand Prix Special and tied for 10th in the Grand Prix Freestyle.

Graves made her World Championship debut at the 2014 Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games, having a phe-nomenal showing with Verdades. Together they were 10th in the Grand Prix, eighth in the Grand Prix Special, and fifth in the Grand Prix Freestyle with a score of 82.036%, in addition to helping the U.S. Team to a fourth-place finish.

Graves and Verdades began 2015 with a win in the CDI-W Grand Prix Freestyle and a second-place finish in the Grand Prix during week nine of the AGDF.

Kim HerslowBorn: June 25, 1971 Residence: Stockton, N.J.Rosmarin – 2005 Hanoverian gelding owned by Kiroli Enterprises LLC

Kim Herslow, a USDF Gold medalist, has been riding since she was nine years old and competed extensively in the hunter/jumper arenas before dressage became her main focus. A graduate from Delaware Valley College with a degree in Equine Science, Herslow continued her education by train-ing with noted professionals, such as Lars Petersen, Robert Dover, Guenter Seidel, Debbie McDonald, Scott Hassler, and Anne Gribbons. Her ability to spot raw talent is clearly evident with her mount Rosmarin, aka “Reno” (Rosentanz/Weltmeyer), whom she imported from Germany in 2008 as a three-year-old. This partnership has earned many blue rib-bons from Regional Championships and CDI3* competitions to Team Gold at the 2013 Wellington CDIO3* Nations Cup. Herslow and Rosmarin swept the Small Tour classes at Dres-

sage at Devon before claiming the 2013 The Dutta Corp./USEF Intermediaire I Dressage National Championship.

In 2014, Herslow returned to the U.S. Dressage Fes-tival of Champions presented by The Dutta Corp. with Rosmarin and finished fourth in The Dutta Corp./USEF Intermediaire I Dressage National Championship.

Herslow has begun her 2015 season with top perfor-mances on the Florida circuit, sweeping the Small Tour classes during week seven of the Adequan Global Dres-sage Festival.

During the off season, Herslow maintains a busy sched-ule with her clients at her Upper Creek Farm training facility in New Jersey.

Olivia LaGoy-WeltzBorn: November 12, 1983 Residence: Reston, Va.Rassing’s Lonoir – 2004 Danish Warmblood gelding owned by the rider

Olivia LaGoy-Weltz grew up in the San Francisco Bay area where she rode and competed in dressage and eventing through age 18. In 2002, LaGoy-Weltz moved to Europe and spent five years working in Holland and Germany at several top sales and competition barns. She returned to the United States in 2007 and started her own dressage training busi-ness, becoming head trainer at a large facility in Northern California. In 2009, she moved to Versailles, Kentucky to ride sales horses on behalf of her former employer in Holland, Egbert Kraak. LaGoy-Weltz began competing on the Florida CDI circuit in late 2009. LaGoy-Weltz won the 2012 GAIG/USDF Region 2 Grand Champion title with Rifallino.

LaGoy-Weltz had strong performances in 2013 with Rifallino. At the Palm Beach Dressage Derby, she and Rifal-lino won the Grand Prix Special and then won the Grand Prix Freestyle at the Wellington Classic Dressage Chal-lenge II.

In 2014 LaGoy-Weltz began the season with numerous top placings on the Florida circuit with Rassing’s Lonoir. The pair then finished third in The Dutta Corp./USEF Intermediaire I Dressage National Championship at the U.S. Dressage Festival of Champions presented by The Dutta Corp. In the fall LaGoy-Weltz and Rassing’s Lonoir swept the Small Tour classes at Dressage at Devon.

LaGoy-Weltz and Rassing’s Lonoir have started off 2015 on the Florida circuit, finishing second in the Prix St. Georges and Intermediaire I Freestyle classes during week five of the Adequan Global Dressage Festival.

LaGoy-Weltz runs a selective training program dedi-cated to top-quality horse and rider development, based seasonally in Middleburg, Va. and Wellington, Fla.

Robert DoverChef d’Equipe

Born: June 7, 1956 Residence: Wellington, Fla.

Robert Dover has earned more honors than any other U.S. Dressage rider, competing in six consecutive Olympic Games for the United States, as well as on four FEI World Equestrian Games teams and at seven FEI World Cup Finals.

Dover began riding when he was 13 years old, graduated as an “A” pony-clubber, and specialized in dressage when he was 19. After attending the University of Georgia, he saw his equestrian career take off in the 1980s. After his first Olympic appearance in 1984, Dover helped the U.S. capture the North American championship the following year. In 1987, Dover defeated six-time Olympic Gold medalist Dr. Reiner Klimke to win the Aachen Grand Prix in Germany in front of a crowd of 65,000. This victory was the first time an American had won in Aachen since 1960, and Dover considers it the high point of

his distinguished career. He made his international team debut at the 1984 Los

Angeles Olympic Games, finishing in 17th place in the individual competition on Romantico, while the U.S. placed sixth in the team competition. Dover returned to the Olympic Games in 1988 in Seoul, where he finished in 13th place. At the 1992 Barcelona Olympic Games, Dover won his first medal, helping to lead the U.S. to a Team Bronze medal.

In 1994, Dover was named “Male Equestrian of the Year” by the U.S. Olympic Committee after winning the Team Bronze medal at the FEI World Equestrian Games in The Hague and finishing fifth individually. At the 1996 Atlanta Olympic Games, he won his second Olympic medal when the U.S. finished in third place to win the Team Bronze medal for the second straight time.

At the 2000 Sydney Olympic Games, Dover captained the U.S. team and helped lead the Americans to another Bronze medal, finishing behind Germany and The Nether-lands.

Dover clinched his sixth Olympic Games berth in 2004. In Athens, the veteran rode FBW Kennedy, winning the Team Bronze medal and finishing sixth individually. To fin-ish out his career in 2005, Dover placed fourth in the 2005 FEI World Cup Final in Las Vegas.

He has also taught clinics all over the world, sat on many USEF committees, and is one of the founders of the Equestrian Aid Foundation, which helps people in the horse world suffering from any life-threatening illness or injury.

Shelly FrancisBorn: December 16, 1958 Residence: Loxahatchee, Fla.Danilo – 2004 Hanoverian gelding owned by Patricia Stempel

Shelly Francis grew up in Bar Harbor, Maine, where her family still owns a 30-acre farm. Over the last twenty years, she has quietly been achieving strong results in Prix St. Georges and Grand Prix competition.

In 1996, with Pikant, Francis was second alternate for the U.S. Olympic team. In 1997, the pair won the USDF Grand Prix Champion Horse of the Year, and went on to compete at the 1998 FEI World Equestrian Games in Rome.

Francis began 2009 by winning the Grand Prix Special with Dominion at the Gold Coast Opener. The pair then won the Grand Prix and finished second in the Grand Prix Special in the CDI3* at the Wellington Classic Spring Chal-lenge. At the 2009 Collecting Gaits Farm/USEF Dressage Festival of Champions, Francis finished sixth in the USEF

National Intermediaire I Championship with Wig Wam and ninth in the USEF National Grand Prix Dressage Champi-onship with Dominion.

In 2012, Francis began the year with a second-place finish in the Prix St. Georges and a third-place finish in the Intermediaire I in the CDI1* with Doktor at the Wel-lington Classic Dressage Challenge II. The pair competed in another CDI1* at the International Horse Sport Cham-pions Cup, finishing second in the Prix St. Georges and Intermediaire I. Francis and Doktor were on the winning U.S. Nations Cup team at the WEF Wellington Dressage Nations Cup CDIO3* presented by Stillpoint Farm in April. The pair then finished in 11th place in the USEF National Intermediaire I Championship at the 2012 USEF Dressage Festival of Champions.

Francis kicked off 2013 with first-place finishes in the Grand Prix Special with Doktor and the Prix St. Georges and Intermediaire I with Firleflanz. At the Wellington Classic Dressage Challenge II, she and Danilo won the Prix St. Georges and Intermediaire I. The pair won the same two classes in the CDI1* at the International Horse Sport Champions Cup, where Francis also finished second in the Grand Prix and Grand Prix Freestyle with Doktor. She partnered with Danilo again to win the Prix St. Georges and Intermediaire I at the Wellington 5*, presented by Diamante Farms. Francis and Doktor were on the winning Nations Cup team at the Wellington Nations Cup CDIO3* presented by Stillpoint Farm, where they finished second in the Grand Prix and Grand Prix Freestyle, and were third in the Grand Prix Special.

Over the summer, Francis traveled to Europe. At CDIO5* Aachen, she and Doktor helped the U.S. team to a third-place finish in the Nations Cup. The pair then went to CDI4* Lingen and were second in the Grand Prix. At CDIO3* Hickstead, Francis and Doktor again helped the U.S. team to a solid Nations Cup finish, with the team earning second-place honors. At the competition, she rode Danilo to third place in the Intermediaire I and Doktor to fifth place in the Grand Prix Freestyle.

Returning to the U.S., Francis ended the 2013 season at the U.S. Dressage Festival of Champions presented by The Dutta Corp. She was fourth at both The Dutta Corp/USEF

Big TourGrand Prix Dressage National Championship and The Dutta Corp/USEF Intermediaire I Dressage National Championship with Doktor and Danilo, respectively.

Francis started 2014 at the Adequan Global Dressage Festi-val (AGDF). With Doktor, Francis headed to the U.S. Dressage Fes-tival of Champions presented by The Dutta Corp, where the pair finished seventh in The Dutta Corp/USEF Grand Prix Dressage National Championship. Catherine Haddad StallerBorn: March 26, 1964 Residence: Wellington, Fla.Mane Stream Hotmail – 2002 Oldenburg gelding owned by Rowan O’Riley

Catherine Haddad Staller returned to the U.S. in October of 2012 after 20 years in Germany. After training for two years with Willi Schultheis, she established a successful training and showing stable in Vechta. With Maximus JSS, Cadillac, and Winyamaro, she earned over 100 top ten plac-ings in international competitions between 2006 and 2011.

In 2006, Haddad Staller was named as a reserve to the U.S. Dressage Team for the FEI World Equestrian Games in Aachen, Germany with Maximus JSS. In 2007, she became the first American dressage rider to qualify for the World Cup by competing in the Western European League. With Maximus JSS, she finished seventh at the 2007 FEI World

Cup Finals in Las Vegas.In 2009, Haddad Staller won eight Grand Prix with her

top horse, the Danish Warmblood Cadillac. Winyamaro, also established himself in the Grand Prix arena the same year winning one national Grand Prix and placing third in the Freestyle at the heavily visited Berlin Tempelhof CDN3* last October.

In 2010, Haddad Staller and Winyamaro had a banner year. After winning one national Grand Prix Special in April, Winyamaro began his international career at the Hamburg CDI3* where he placed second in the Freestyle. At the Lipica CDI-W he was seventh in the Grand Prix and fourth in the Freestyle. Other highlights include a fifth-place finish in the Grand Prix at the Fritzens-Schindlhof CDI4* and a fourth-place finish in the Grand Prix Special at the Falsterbo CDI5*.

In August, Haddad Staller and Winyamaro traveled to Gladstone, N.J. to contest the Collecting Gaits Farm/USEF Festival of Champions. The pair placed fourth in the Grand Prix Special during the first weekend and during the sec-ond weekend they were fourth in the Grand Prix and fifth in the Freestyle. These strong places helped them to finish fourth in the National Grand Prix Championship. Haddad Staller was again the reserve rider for the U.S. Dressage Team for the 2010 Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games in Kentucky with Winyamaro.

In 2011, Haddad Staller competed at the Reem Acra FEI World Cup Finals with Winyamaro. Once again she quali-fied for the Finals in the Western European League, which is widely known as the toughest World Cup Qualifying League.

Back in the U.S., Haddad Staller and Winyamaro were second in the Grand Prix and Grand Prix Freestyle at Dres-sage at Devon CDI-W.

In October of 2011, Haddad Staller was nominated to the Executive Board of the International Dressage Riders Club as Communications Chair.

Haddad Staller kicked off 2013 with a Grand Prix win aboard Mane Stream Hotmail at the Wellington Classic Dressage Challenge I. The pair then earned a second-place finish in the Grand Prix Special CDI-W at Dressage at Devon.

Big TourHaddad Staller began 2014 by winning the Grand Prix

during weeks one and five of the Adequan Global Dressage Festival. The pair then traveled to Europe for the spring and summer, highlighted by second-place finishes in the Grand Prix Special at CDI5* Falsterbo and Grand Prix and Grand Prix Special at CDI4* Cappeln. Returning to the states in the fall, Haddad Staller and Mane Stream Hotmail were third in the Grand Prix and Grand Prix Freestyle at Dressage at Devon.

Haddad Staller received a B.A. from James Madison Col-lege at Michigan State University in 1987 and graduated with Honors. She is a recipient of the BHSAI certificate of teaching from the British Horse Society and has been awarded with the German Gold Medal for Competitive Success in Dressage.

In January of 2010, she married American vet Greg Staller.

Chris HickeyBorn: August 14, 1968 Residence: Colora, Md.Ronaldo – 2006 Danish Warmblood gelding owned by Cecelia Stewart

Chris Hickey has found much success throughout his career. He rode in the 1988 and 1989 North American Young Rider Championships (NAYRC), and qualified for the 1994 Olym-pic Festival and 1995 Pan American Selection Trials. Hickey has shown several horses successfully at FEI levels, as well as coached students to many USDF Bronze, Silver, and Gold medals. He has studied with some of the best in the field including Lendon Gray, Robert Dover, Sue Blinks, and Lilo Fore. Hickey has also ridden in Germany with Conrad Schum-acher and Ulla Salzgeber and currently trains with Morten Thomsen of Denmark.

In 2007, he captured the USEF Intermediaire I Dressage National Championship and the Pan American Games Dres-sage Team and Individual Gold medals with Regent. With

Cabana Boy, Hickey earned a trip to the World Breeders’ Championship for Young Horses in Verden, Germany, that same summer. The pair went on to win three consecutive National Championships.

In 2010, Hickey started off the year by winning the Grand Prix Special with Douglas Hilltop at the Wellington Clas-sic Dressage Challenge I. The pair went on to win two Grand Prix tests at EEMI Summer Fling. With Cabana Boy, Hickey won the Intermediaire I and finished second in the Intermediaire Freestyle at the Gold Coast Opener. The pair then won both the Prix St. Georges and the Intermediaire Freestyle and finished second in the Intermediaire I at the WEF Dressage Classic. At the Collecting Gaits Farm/USEF Dressage Festival of Champions, Hickey and Cabana Boy finished second in the Intermediaire Freestyle and third in the Prix St. Georges test, respectively.

Hickey and Douglas Hilltop kicked off 2011 with a win in the Grand Prix Special at the Wellington Classic Dres-sage Challenge I. At the Palm Beach Dressage Derby, the pair finished third in the Grand Prix and Grand Prix Spe-cial. With Witness Hilltop, Hickey won two Intermediaire I classes at CDCTA Dressage at Morven Park. The pair went on to finish third in the Prix St. Georges and Intermediaire I at CDI3* Raleigh and Capital Dressage Classic. At Dres-sage at Devon, Hickey and Witness Hilltop finished second in the Prix St. Georges, Intermediaire I, and Intermediaire Freestyle.

To close out the year, Hickey and Witness Hilltop won the Prix St. Georges and the Interme-

Hickey and Witness Hilltop made their second appearance at the Wellington Nations Cup CDIO3* presented by Stillpoint Farm, helping the USA Team II to a second-place finish.

In 2014, Hickey teamed up with Ronaldo to garner multiple top finishes in Small Tour competition, starting the year at the Adequan Global Dressage Festival before earning a ninth-place finish in The Dutta Corp/USEF Intermediaire I Dressage National Championship.

They have begun their 2015 campaign once again compet-ing at the Adequan Global Dressage Festival, cruising to a fourth-place finish in the Intermediaire 1 Freestyle presented by Mission Control during week five.

Kasey PerryBorn: October 12, 1987 Residence: Orangevale, Calif.Goerklintgaards Dublet – 2003 Danish Warmblood gelding owned by Diane Perry

Kasey Perry has been riding since she was a little girl. At the age of five, her sisters taught her to ride western. Perry joined the United States Pony Club at eight-years-old and she competed in eventing while at Oak Creek Training Stables in Granite Bay, California, until she was 17. While attending California University of Sacramento, Perry switched her focus to dressage. She continued training and competing through-out college. During her senior year, Perry began training with Christophe Theallet. Eventually Christophe and his wife, Marie, moved to Spokane, Washington, to further their busi-ness. After college graduation, Perry moved to Spokane to focus solely on training with Christophe.

Perry had a successful year in 2013, beginning with Interme-diaire I wins aboard Goerklintgaards Dublet at The Dressage

Affaire and Festival of the Horse. The pair then won the CDI Prix St. Georges and Intermediaire I at the Golden State Dressage Festival.

In 2014, Perry started the season off by earning a Prix St. Georges win with Camina’s MacCoy at the Palm Beach Dressage Derby. With Goerklintgaards Dublet, Perry was sixth in The Dutta Corp./USEF Intermediaire I Dressage National Championship at the U.S. Dressage Festival of Champions presented by The Dutta Corp.

Perry began her 2015 season on the Florida circuit, starting with a win in the CDI1* Intermediaire I on Goerk-lintgaards Dublet at the Gold Coast Opener. During week three of the Adequan Global Dressage Festival (AGDF), the pair won the Intermediaire I Freestyle. Three weeks later, they moved up to the Grand Prix level and earned another win. During week seven of AGDF, Perry earned third-place finishes with Trostruplund’s Scarlet in the CDI4* Grand Prix Freestyle and with Goerklintgaards Dublet in the Prix St. Georges.

Debbie McDonald consistently represented U.S. dressage on the international stage throughout her prolific career. Together with superstar mare, Brentina, she won the 1999 Pan American Games Individual and Team Gold medals, 2002 FEI World Equestrian Games Team Silver medal, 2003 FEI World Cup Final, 2004 Olympic Games Team Bronze medal, and the 2006 FEI World Equestrian Games Team Bronze medal. McDonald was named 1999 USOC Female Equestrian Athlete of the Year and 1999 AHSA Equestrian of the Year.

McDonald has switched her focus to coaching in recent years, guiding her students to great success. She has been the U.S. Dressage Developing Coach since the fall of 2006, help-ing athletes and horses transition to the high performance level.
