Tabor-Powell Sewer Project Proposed Night Work AUGUST 17, 2015 CONTACT: Rhetta Drennan, 503-823-6006 [email protected] Environmental Services will begin construction of a project to replace and repair approximately 37,000 feet of aging public sewer pipe at 61 locations in northeast and southeast Portland. The public sewer pipes in this project range in age from 60 to 104 years old, with the majority being over 90 years old. Projects that repair and replace aging sewer pipes are important for protecting water quality, public health and the environment. NOISE VARIANCE Environmental Services is applying for a noise variance to allow open trench work at night at the locations indicated on the map (see reverse side of this page). Night work is needed because of the high daytime traffic volumes along these streets. Normal construction hours are 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Monday through Saturday. Work after 6:00 p.m. and before 7:00 a.m. and all hours on Sundays requires a noise variance. The project is estimated to start this winter.
