LEWISBURG, PA. - The Seton Hall women’s golf team shot a team-record low 293 in the final round of the Bucknell Invitational to win the tournament by six strokes over second place Rutgers on Sunday. The tournament victory is the fifth in the short history of the program, but the first in five tries at the Bucknell Invitational. The Pirates had come close in recent years, finishing third in 2011 and tying for second in both 2012 and 2013. Seton Hall all-time record low team score for a single round is 290, shot in the second round of last year’s Yale Invitational. That was on a par-71 course. Today’s 293 is the team record on a par-70 course. Leading the charge on Sunday was junior Karlie Zabrosky (Erie, Pa.), who shot a personal best 1-over-par, 71, in the final round. Zabrosky finished in a tie for fourth place, with a 15-over-par, 76-78-71-225.

WILLIAMSBURG, VA. - The Seton Hall women’s golf team shot a program-record, 291, in the final round of the 2014 William & Mary Invitational to finish third among 13 teams in Williamsburg. After a pedestrian 314 in round one, the Pirates continued to improve as the tournament progressed. Seton Hall shaved 14 strokes off its score in round two, settling with an impressive 300, to move from a seventh place tie to fourth place. In round three, the Pirates shaved nine more strokes off to finish one stroke behind More-head State for second place. Their 291 was the best score of the day, besting UNC Wilm-ington’s second-best 297 by six strokes. Seton Hall’s 291 is a program-record for a par-72 course. Last season, the Pirates fired a 290 at Yale, but that was on a par-71 course. For the three-round event, the Pirates finished at 41-over-par with a 314-300-291-905.

NEW HAVEN, CONN. - Senior Ali Kruse (Overland Park, Kan.) and junior Karlie Zabrosky (Erie, Pa.) each shot a 2-over-par, 73, in Sunday’s final round to help lift the Seton Hall women’s golf team to a fourth place finish at the Yale Intercollegiate.

Kruse shaved five strokes off her second round score to also shoot a 73 in round three. The Pirates’ senior finished with a 15-over-par, 77-78-73-228, to tie for 21st place over-all. SETON HALL FINISHES SIXTHBEDMINSTER, N.J. -- Senior Erin McClure (Tucson, Ariz.) shot a 3-over-par, 75, in Friday’s final round as the Seton Hall women’s golf team finished sixth at their own Pirate Invitational at Trump National.

Whereas yesterday the field had to contend with blustery winds, to-day the 70 golfers had to deal with sporadic rain showers throughout their round. Despite this, scores came down across the board. McClure shaved four strokes off her first round score to finish tied for 15th with a 10-over-par, 79-75-154.

McClure finished 12 strokes behind the 2015 individual champion, which for a second straight year went to a golfer from Columbia Uni-versity. Camilla Vik was the lone player in the field to shoot under par for the tournament. She finished with a 2-under-par, 69-73-142.

Collectively, the Pirates shot nine strokes better in round two than they did on Thursday, but the rest of the field played much better as well, and thus, The Hall actually fell two spots to a sixth place finish. They end the two-day event at 51-over-par with a 318-309-627. Two other BIG EAST schools were in the field. Georgetown finished one stroke better than the Pirates, while St. John’s finished four strokes worse.

Ali Kruse (Overland Park, Kan.) shot a 5-over-par, 77, in round two. For the event, she tied for 19th place with an 11-over-par, 78-77-155.

Hills used a superb natural set-ting to create a masterpiece in playability and variety. It features natural wetlands, narrow pine corridors, small greens and strategically placed water hazards. The Hills Course calls for the player to use mind over muscles. Good strategic planning rewards the player with good results and an enjoyable round. Each hole is unique and memorable. The Hills Course, played from the proper tees, poses an appropriate challenge to more accomplished play-ers and fairness to high handicappers, seniors, women and junior golfers.

2015 BIG EAST CHAMPIONSHIP

PIRATES GO BACK-TO-BACKMcClure, Pirates Edge G’Town

DAYTONA BEACH, FL. -- Senior Erin McClure (Tucson, Ariz.) shot a 2-under-par, 70, in Saturday’s final round to lift the Seton Hall women’s golf team to a one-stroke victory in the 2015 BIG EAST Conference Championship and successful title defense.

The title gives the team back-to-back championships, the first for the Seton hall program since softball won titles in 2004 and 2005.

McClure was simply masterful, playing her best golf when the team needed it the most. After going 36 holes without a sin-gle birdie, the senior recorded five birdies during round three. McClure’s big finish put her at 8-over-par for the tournament with a 77-77-70-224, good for tournament runner-up. She finished just one stroke behind Georgetown’s Jacquelyn Eleey, who took home the individual title at 7-over-par.

Seton Hall looked like it was going to cruise to its second straight title early in the round, but the Pirates had to hold off a furious charge by Georgetown in the final holes of the day. The Pirates led the field by as many as 13 strokes at the turn and were 2-under-par through nine holes. But when The Hall shot a collective 8-over-par through holes 10, 11 and 12, Georgetown made its move.

With the final three golfers approaching the 18th hole, Seton Hall had a one-stroke lead. Megan Tenhundfeld (Loveland, Ohio) chipped her third shot to within three feet of the hole, and calmly made the putt to match Georgetown’s Eleey and preserve the slim margin of victory.

For the tournament, Seton Hall shot a 50-over-par, 311-299-304-914. Georgetown was 51-over-par and Xavier finished at 57-over-par. All three teams had been separated by just one stroke following both rounds one and two.

Tenhundfeld had a sparkling second round, which kept Se-ton Hall tied for the team lead through 36 holes. The junior slipped in round three, but came through when needed most on the 18th hole. For the tournament, Tenhundfeld tied for seventh place overall with a 14-over-par, 78-70-82-230.

Senior Ali Kruse (Overland Park, Kan.) has been towards the top of the individual leader board all tournament long. On Saturday, she was 2-under par through the front nine, fueled by an eagle on the par-4 ninth hole. Kruse used a pitching wedge to hole her second shot from 105 yards. The senior ran into trouble late in the round, but still carded a 6-over-par, 78. For the tournament, Kruse tied for fourth with a 12-over-par, 76-74-78-228.

Cassie Pantelas (Canton, Ohio) improved each day during her first BIG EAST Championship. The freshman started her final

round with 10 straight pars. A birdie on hole #13 cancelled out a bogey on hole #11, and she finished at 2-over-par after finishing her round with bogeys on holes #17 and #18. For the tournament, Pantelas finished 11th with a 17-over-par, 81-78-74-233.

Karlie Zabrosky (Erie, Pa.) rounded out the Pirates scoring on Saturday with an 11-over-par, 83. For the tourna-ment, she was 29-over-par with an 80-82-83-245. She had a large role in the Pirates strong performances early in rounds. Zabrosky was only 8-over-par for the tournament on the front nine, but struggled mightily on the back.

SETON HALL WOMEN’S GOLFAT THE NCAA’S

RALEIGH, N.C. -- Seniors Ali Kruse (Overland Park, Kan.) and Erin McClure (Tucson, Ariz.) each shot a 7-over-par, 79, in an emotionally-charged final round as the Seton Hall women’s golf team finished 17th at the 2015 NCAA Raleigh Regional on Saturday.

The round brings to an end to two remarkable careers that spanned the program rough moments in its infancy to back-to-back BIG EAST titles. Kruse and McClure are arguably the two greatest golfers in the short history of the program and finished their careers on the high stage, the NCAA Regionals.

Kruse finishes her second and final regional at 17-over-par with a 75-79-79-233. Consistent as ever, she was 4-over through her first nine holes and 3-over on her back nine. McClure finishes up with a 21-over-par, 78-79-80-237. After shooting 6-over-par through the first five holes in round two, McClure was a perfect 5-for-5 in pars beginning today’s round. After a solid first nine, bogeys started to mount on the back as the end began to near.

Collectively, Seton Hall shot seven strokes better in Saturday’s final round than it did in round two. The Pirates complete their second NCAA Regionals appearance with a 74-over-par, 309-318-311-938 to finish 17th in the field of 18 conference champions and national leaders. The Hall bested fellow New Jersey school Fairleigh Dickinson by 48 strokes and finished eight strokes behind Wichita State for 16th place.

Top-seeded South Carolina won the Regional at 13-over-par, eight strokes ahead of Northwestern.

Kruse was the top Pirate individual finisher. She finished 25 strokes behind LSU’s Madelene Sagstrom, who won the event by six strokes at a remarkable 8-under-par.

Seton Hall’s top golfer on Saturday was junior Megan Tenhundfeld (Loveland, Ohio), who fired a 3-over-par, 75. Tenhundfeld was just 1-over-par through the first nine holes, including a birdie on hole #18. She was nearly as impressive on the back, and added a second birdie on the fourth hole. For the 54-hole tournament, Tenhundfeld tied McClure with a 21-over-par, 82-80-75-237.

Karlie Zabrosky (Erie, Pa.) rebounded with a nice tournament for Seton Hall this week. The junior turned in the Pirates’ second-best team score with a 20-over-par, 77-80-79-236. Her solid final round would have been even more impressive had she not carded a “7” on the par-4, ninth hole to end her day.

Rounding out Seton Hall’s scoring this week was Cassie Pantelas (Canton, Ohio). The freshman had a very consistent round, shooting 3-over on both the front and back to settle with a 6-over-par, 78, on Saturday. Pantelas was just 1-over through eight holes, but double-bogeyed hole #18. For the tournament, she finished with a 23-over-par, 79-82-78-239.
