“Students are the whole point.” Those are the words of long-time Tarleton supporter Dominique Inge, whom you will meet in this report. From our founding, student access and opportunity have been at the center of Tarleton’s mission.

Tarleton is working to become the premier student-focused university in Texas and beyond. Students tell me every day how much they love their Tarleton experience. Prospective students are applying in ever-growing numbers, because to be part of the Tarleton family is a special experience.

Opportunities to giveAnnual Giving Annual support from individuals, foundations and corporations provides the margin of excellence that distinguishes great universities from good ones. These gifts help Tarleton bridge the gap between state support and its annual operating budget; they make the difference between subsistence and excellence.

Greater Tarleton Annual Fund The Greater Tarleton Annual Fund (GTAF), a yearly campaign to raise private funds for academic programs, has a direct, immediate impact on Tarleton students and programs by providing support beyond basic public funding. Each year, thousands of alumni and friends give to Tarleton through the GTAF to support academic excellence.

Scholarships With more than 80 percent of Tarleton students receiving some form of financial aid, scholarship funds play a critically important role in changing lives through education. Without these funds, a college education might not become reality for many Tarleton students. Scholarships help students achieve their career and lifetime aspirations.

Endowed Gifts Endowments are the financial foundation of a university. Rather than being spent to meet an immediate need, endowed funds are invested for the future. Earnings on these investments provide a stable, ongoing source of funds for scholarships, professorships and areas of special need. Each year, the earnings achieve the endowment’s intended purpose, while allowing growth for the future.

Gifts in Memory Gifts to commemorate a family member, classmate, faculty member or friend can create a lasting legacy in their honor. Gifts in Memory may be designated toward any existing fund—perhaps one to which the decedent directed gifts during his or her lifetime—or be applied to support any Tarleton program or initiative important to the donor, or left to the discretion of the university.

Corporate Matching Gifts Corporate matching gifts are a great way for Tarleton alumni, parents and friends to maximize personal contributions to the university and increase the impact of their gifts. By taking advantage of a company’s gift benefit, you may be able to double or even triple the amount of your contribution for the benefit of Tarleton and its students.

Twenty years ago, Dominique and Charles Inge

learned about Tarleton when the university asked for their support of

the Langdon Cultural and Educational Center in Granbury.

The Inges agreed, creating a bond with Tarleton that continues today.

Through The Inge Foundation, they donate to educational and cultural

programs including KTRL public radio, Langdon Review of the Arts,

and the President’s Circle.

“Students are the whole point,” Dominique said. “The programs

we support provide them experience and showcase their works.

We’re always excited to see students learning and interacting with

professors.”

The Inges envision a bright future with Tarleton as it moves forward

and broadens its educational reach under the leadership of President

Dominic Dottavio.

Senior criminal justice major Troy Collum II , 43, discovered

Tarleton while on a campus tour with his high-school-aged son, Ian.

Today, he and Ian are off-campus roommates attending Tarleton together.

When he enrolled at Tarleton, Troy had 13 years experience in law-

enforcement in Bandera County. Now he’s a reserve officer and full-time

honors student who has earned several merit-based scholarships.

“With two of us attending college at the same time, scholarships have

really helped,” Troy said. “And it feels good to be recognized for your

accomplishments—that somebody out there is saying ‘good job.’”

After graduation in May, Troy plans to attend law school and become a

prosecutor. In the meantime, he recently witnessed real-life prosecution

as a student intern in the Erath County District Attorney’s office, where

lawyers prepared the Chris Kyle murder case.

With 49 years teaching at Tarleton between them, Drs. Pam and Mark Littleton consider the university community

their home.

“Donations are our way of giving back a little,” said Mark, professor

of educational leadership. “We just happen to choose Tarleton and that

speaks to our philosophy of ‘let’s give at home.’”

The Littletons give to a variety of programs, including athletics,

rodeo, study abroad, and fine arts, including KTRL, Tarleton’s public

radio. They also support special projects like the President’s Circle

and the Dean of the College of Education’s Crystal Apple Society.

Each year they give to Tarleton’s annual campaign, earmarking their

donation toward helping mathematics students.

“Scholarships let students know that what they’re doing is

appreciated,” said Pam, professor emeritus of mathematics. “Then

hopefully they stay and finish their degrees and become successful

citizens.”

Euphemia Edem is the first athlete in Tarleton

history to qualify for NCAA championships in two events.

She’s currently ranked No. 2 in the nation in triple jump

and No. 5 in long jump, and her dream is to compete in the

2016 Summer Olympics.

A Tarleton track scholarship allows Euphemia to study

toward a master’s degree in kinesiology, which she plans

to receive in December.

“Coming from Nigeria, it means a great deal to me,”

Euphemia said about her scholarship. “It really helps. I

hope Tarleton will consider doing more for international

students.”

Euphemia plans to continue her studies, receive a

doctorate, help elite track athletes and work as an athletic

director after trying to compete in the Olympics.

“I want to give a helping hand to my parents and family

at home,” Euphemia said. “My future’s not just about me;

it’s for them, too.”

Geri Kline comes from a family of Texas ranchers and Iowa farmers and

she’s determined to carry on her family’s legacy of producing food for mankind.

Geri, who is studying for her master’s degree in Agricultural and Consumer

Resources, wants to help other students thrive in farming careers, too.

To achieve that goal, Geri is assisting fellow graduate Richard Singleton and

the Agribusiness Club in their efforts to endow and perpetuate a scholarship

for Agricultural Economics students.

“I want to give back to Tarleton,” she said. “And help keep students studying

agriculture so we can guarantee increased food production for the world’s

future.”

Geri also hopes to nurture her goal of supporting farmers and ranchers

during her career. Upon completion of graduate school, she plans to serve as a

Texas AgriLife Extension Agent.
