Any archer at any age is eligible for the Fellowship of Robinhood Award by doing exactly what Joe did. If you happen to get a Robinhood during an ISAA event, simply have a witness verify this to any ISAA Board member at the shoot.

President Ken Sharp called the meeting to order at approximately 9:05 am.

Past Meeting Minutes: A motion was made to approve minutes from the 2014 Fall meeting by Tommy Thompson. Seconded by Barb Sharp. Motion carried with a majority vote.

Treasurer: Bob S. devised and distributed the final ending financial report. We showed a loss of about $2800 not including the ProAm. A major

contributing factor includes an $800 loss from the Arrowhound for postage and handling. A motion was made to accept last years financial report by Gary Kostka and seconded by Warren Rush. The motion carried with a majority vote.

The new year report, 10-1-14 to 9-30-15, showed that with donations to charity the account was almost balanced out what was received from the DNR Tag. Scholarship of $1000 was paid. We currently have 270 members. The projected profit for this year is $3300.

20 Pin/ Historian and Hall of Fame: Pat B. reports no changes

Arrowhound Editor: Barb S, requested that all information from the Arrowhound be placed on the ISAA website to eliminate future costs. All past

issues could be archived and each club and charter could be linked from the website. This would also allow pictures from ISAA shoots to be placed on the website immediately. No further discussion was made at this time.

Trail Shoot: It was discussed that originally the Trail Shoot was to model the shoot in Redding. However, with Hitaga dismantling we purchased $1152 in vitals and have no animals to put them in.

Gary K. reported that the 2014 Trail Shoot had 122 shooters, taking in $2740. Pay out was $1764.50 leaving a $993.50 profit. We broke even after

repairs were made. The checking account balance is $3486.92 including $8.48 bad check from the Iowa ProAm. It was determined that the Trail

Shoot checkbook is the parent checkbook for the Iowa ProAm account.

Gary K. reported that we have enough Trail Shoot Pins and scorecards to refrain from purchasing more this year.

There were two bids received for the 2015 Trail Shoot from Waverly Archers and Border Brigade and a presentation made by Warren R.

Waverly Archers bid $5/ Adults, $3 Youth/Cubs, $3 NASP, and $12.50 Families. All targets would be furnished by the ISAA and ISAA woukld do all registrations. Primitive Camping was offered.

Border Brigade offered primitive and modern camping, information to local hotels, 40 target 3D range with unlimited parking, permanent restrooms,

cabins available to rent, restaurants, shelter at the range with food service. They would do their own registration. $6/Adults, $4 Youth/Cubs, $11/ Family. Targets would be provided by the ISAA and there would be a shootback fee of $10.

15

Page 16: 2015 - Iowa State Archery Associationiowastatearchery.com/.../09/JulyAugSept2015-optimized.pdf · 2017-07-27 · Helpful Archery Articles 25 & 26 Mid-Iowa Archers 28 Mohawk Archers

Warren proposed that the ISAA would retain the Trail Shoot and hold it at the Hickory Ridge Outdoor Range at Red Rock. The State would like us to

use it and they would like to add a Field Shoot. Warren proposed that in order to make this a profitable shoot we could charge $20/ adults, $10 Youth/Cubs and $50/ Family and raise the cost to $60 for money open and BHFS classes.

There was a discussion over the legalities of the ISAA retaining the shoot and Gary K. feels we would be undercutting the clubs by bidding on our own shoot. John C. stated that the Trail Shoot has never been a bid shoot as it was given to Hitaga and they have now dismantled.

We currently have 43 targets of which 8 do not need rebuilt. Warren R. is storing the targets.

Both clubs agreed to take over the Trail Shoot and use their own targets with the 8 we have now.

Gary K. made a motion to table the discussion to allow both clubs to redo their bids and turn into Ken within one week. Jan K. seconded the motion. Motion dies.

A motion was made to table the Trail Shoot discussion for 1 year was made by Tommy T. seconded by Warren R. 8 ayes, 7 opposed. Motion carried.

Gary K. made a motion that the ISAA has a right to bid on any shoot. Seconded by Warren R. Vote was carried out by secret ballot. 7 Ayes 8 Opposed. Motion Fails

Tommy T. made a motion to allow the State to bid on the Trail Shoot only. Motion revised by Tommy T. to allow the clubs to bid or the ISAA to run the Trail Shoot. Motion was rescinded by Tommy T.

Barb S. made a motion to allow the ISAA to bid on the Trail Shoot only, along with the clubs. The motion was seconded by John C. Motion passed with 10 Ayes and 6 Opposed.

ProAm

It was discussed that the webpage and registration needs to be rewritten to allow the usage of smart phones and tablets. As the webpage is being

rewritten, more space will be given to the title sponsor. The current system only allows a single person to use data entry and we need three people to

have data entry access. To help with sorting, money shooters will be given color coded cards. Don P. stated coding will begin in May and changes will be noticed by July.

Recessed for lunch at 12:00

Meeting called into order at 12:30 by Ken S.

Ken S. stated we have a contract for HyVee Hall C for January 6-8th 2017 but we only have a first right of refusal for 2016 until caucuses set a date.

Warren R. made a motion to purchase ten new Morrell Targets. 2nded by Tommy T. Motion passed

Non-Judgmental Aiming

Written by Jim Hunt

As one progresses through his or her archery career, they must come to terms with what I call Judgmental Aiming. This process needs to be corrected before one is to achieve any real proficiency in archery. The difficulty is that you may aim day to day, or even shot to shot, but the consistent performance even under stress is what we are looking for. Often an archer is drawn to reference their pin as it moves around the target, noting its movement, but fails to lock on to 100% focus on their pin and aim. In aiming there are two schools of thought on how to properly aim. The first schools state that you concentrate on the middle and let your pin float in, OR you concentrate on your pin, think center, and come through your arrow. Some of these problems arise more pronounced in certain targets, say a Vegas face as opposed to a five ✁✂✄ ☎✆✝✞✟ ✠✞✝✆✡✞ ✂☛✞ ☞✆ ✆ ✝✞☛✄✞✌ ✌✞☎✞✌✞☛✝✞✟ ✄☞✞ ✍✟ ✄☞✞ ✂✄☞✞✌ ✎✂✞ ☛✂✄✏ ✑✂✡✒✓✞ ☞✞✆✌✎ ✔✡✕ ✆✕ ✖ ✝✆☛✒✄ ☞✂✂✄ ✆

Vegas face to save my life or I just wander around in the yellow or shoot at a hole in the yellow. You can also see this in a shot/tournament as your scoring plummets as the emphasis is increased. The last would be you know exactly where your pin is in reference to the target when the shot breaks, reinforcing the focus on the target and a ✔✞☛✞✌✆✗ ✘✎✞✆ ✂☎ ✙☞✞✌✞ ✕✂✡✌ ✁✘☛ ✘ ✘☛ ✌✞✗✆✄✘✂☛ ✄✂ ✄☞✞ ✝✞☛✄✞✌✟ ✠✡✄ ✗✂✘☛✔ ✄☞✞ ✁✘☛✒ ✞✚✆✝✄ ✗✂✝✆✄✘✂☛✏ ✛✄ ✄✘✜✞ ✄☞✘ ✝✆☛
