Senior Estimator / House Beam Flooring Solutions Co-ordinator

PURPOSE OF THE JOB:

You will be responsible for: • Managing the wider estimating team and preparing competitive tenders, framework

submissions and e-bids from first principles for construction projects in residential market sectors

• Co-ordinating the inputs from the wider team of operations, contracts and the commercial departments

• Supporting the tender management and quality submission requirements.

Commercial Manager - Operations

WORKING HOURS:

40 hrs per week – Full Time, Permanent (working Hours to be agreed)

PROBATION:

3 months

LOCATION:

Based at Weston Underwood, Bullhurst Lane, Weston Underwood, Derbyshire, DE6 4PH

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Take a lead role in successfully tendering projects over a wide range of values. This role is predominantly based on our beam and block flooring solutions

• Ensure that quotations/ order secured are in line with agreed volumes and revenues of the business

• Develop and manage on a daily basis the wider estimating team to expand our overall market share

• Prepare accurate material take offs, drawings and competitive cost estimates

• Develop a full working knowledge of estimating software systems and ensure upgrades are understood and implemented

• Take an active part in post quotation negotiations with customers and ensure successful handover to delivery teams following an award

• Influence and provide guidance and support for team members to innovate and achieve optimum solutions, and the securing of orders

• Collate targeted feedback on quotations and provide information for future reference • Identify the customer(s) and understand their needs • Build effective relationships to establish two-way dialogue with internal and external

parties, including customers and supply chain members • Seek to establish professional trust and mutual respect • Influence and support suppliers to innovate and achieve optimum solutions • Assist, oversee and develop appropriate tender strategies and continuously monitor

the outcomes • Effectively communicate tender strategy and solutions to the flooring senior

management team • Ensure compliance and adherence to company procedures for the production of

enquiries and tenders • Seek opportunities to learn about changes and innovations in the industry • Closely liaise with other business units for best practice and lessons learnt and

proactively drive a culture of innovation and improvement • Support the on-going development of F P McCann’s position in its key sectors

Person Specification – Senior Estimator - House Beam Flooring Solutions Co-Ordinator QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS, ATTRIBUTES

Essential:

• ONC/HNC/BTEC in civil engineering or construction related discipline • English & Maths equivalent to Grade C or above • Methodical approach to solving clients requirements and requests • Good overall commercial awareness • Good computer skills with a sound knowledge of Microsoft Office • Good time management skills. • Ability to work on own initiative, but understand level of responsibility within the wider

environment • Excellent communication skills • Ability to interact with a wide range of people including clients, contractors &

consultants • Ability to prioritise work and manage a number of tasks concurrently • Be highly motivated • Hold a valid driving license

Desirable:

• Previous experience of working in Precast Concrete manufacturing environment • Knowledge of Flooring Products (e.g. beam and block, hollow core and stairs) • Be fully conversant with aspects of the thermal performance, u value & SAP

requirements etc for concrete and mixed product flooring systems • Previous design experience would be an advantage • Willingness to continue personal development
