To Whom It May Concern: The Association of Environmental Professionals (AEP) is a non-profit organization of professionals whose goal is working to improve the skills of environmental practitioners and natural resource managers. The San Francisco Bay Area Chapter is dedicated to supporting students who are planning to engage in a career in the environmental field. As part of our support endeavors, we are offering one (1) $1,000 scholarship to undergraduate and one (1) $1,000 to graduate students and one (1) $1,000 to a student in either level of school who is attending any accredited four-year college or university located within the counties served by the San Francisco Bay Area Chapter (San Francisco, San Mateo, Santa Clara, Alameda, Contra Costa, Solano, Napa, Sonoma, Marin, Lake, Mendocino, Trinity, Humboldt, and Del Norte). Additionally, scholarship recipients will receive a complementary one-year student membership to AEP, which includes all benefits of professional membership, including notification of social events and programs and reduced rates for the annual State AEP Conference and CEQA workshops.

Full-time graduate and undergraduate students (12 units minimum)
who are actively engaged in the pursuit of a career with an
environmental emphasis
Minimum GPA of 3.0
Must be planning to return to school for Fall 2014
How Can the Money Be Used?
The award can be used for any aspect of education, including tuition,
books, housing, research, etc. The recipient(s) will receive a check in their
name from the SF Bay Area Chapter of AEP.

An unofficial copy of your current transcripts
Signed statement that you intend to enroll in the Fall 2013 quarter or semester (as easy as
writing/typing a letter of intent to enroll and take full time units and then sign and scan)
One (1) letter of reference from an environmental professional or environmental professor (not
related to you) written for this specific application
A two-page double-spaced essay with no smaller than 12-point font and 1 inch margins on all sides
Your essay must include a description of ALL of the following three topics:
Your background as it pertains to environmental issues, including education, training,
internships, volunteer, and work experience
Your career goals as they pertain to environmental issues, including education, training,
internships, volunteer, and work experience
Environmental Issues you feel are more important and/or of greater interest than others,
including an explanation as to why
