Since 1967, Melbourne Youth Music has

been inspiring young people to reach their

potential through music, unleashing creativity

and empowering tomorrow’s leaders through

dedication and teamwork. We achieve these

goals by offering educational programs that

build confidence both as performers and as

future leaders in the community.

Melbourne Youth Music is recognised as one

of Australia’s leading centres for ensemble

music making and training, and a meeting

place for young musicians and their families

who travel from all over metropolitan

Melbourne and regional Victoria to participate.

To date, more than 30,000 students have

taken part in our program, a substantial

number now fulfilling vital roles in business,

arts and the music education community.

We play a leadership role in collaborating with

education and music partners to ensure that

a high quality music education is available

for all students in Victoria. Our dream is that

music is embraced and celebrated in Victoria,

since it is instrumental in building community

and developing the best in young people.

of the Victorian College of the Arts at the

University of Melbourne.

With the support of Freemasons Victoria,

we’ve put together an exciting program on

and off the stage, our best ever line-up of

conductors and music educators, exciting

repertoire, and unforgettable performance

experiences.

Also in 2014, we launch MYM Amplified,

a range of online initiatives designed to

leverage greater benefits of our program for

members, and to reach out to a wider portion

of our community.

MYM Amplified

We are integrating Information

Communication Technology into our

program, producing interactive media for

use on the Web and other forms of new

media. We see this as a way to empower

teachers and students, to transform how

learning occurs and to enrich the educational

environment in schools and the community.

Why MYM Amplified? As an acoustic art form,

we’re using the electronic assistance of

amplification to get our music out to a wider

audience!

Throughout 2014, you’ll see us exploring

creative interactions with our students that

share our story – capturing inspirational

performances for our online concert hall,

producing documentaries that profile student

progress, combining online micro-lessons

and teacher forums with our expert team, all

integrated with our social media content.

These initiatives are designed to leverage the

benefits of our Saturday program, establish a

learning environment for the future, improve

music opportunities for regional, rural and

remote Victorians and provide resources for

teachers and school leaders.

The result will be digital offerings that are

fresh and creative, increase accessibility

of our programs to a wider portion of the

community and the numbers of students, and

teachers benefiting from our program.
